Common Questions and Answers about Yeast infections and urinary frequency

yeast-infection

Avatar n tn I had 2 yeast infections. A few weeks ago had the frequency so bad along with a sore stomach and felt terrible. Went to urologist and he said it was a yeast infection. Sent it for a culture and it was negative. Went to gyn and she tested my urine and said it was a uti. Sent it for a culture and this came back negative. She also removed the pessiary. About 3 years ago the Dr did a test to rule out cancer and said I had cystitis.
Avatar n tn Then Im fne for a month and the frequency returns. Went to my gyn and she said my bladder has dropped(but not bad) and did a urethal stretch. My problem seems worse now. Don't think I am emptying fully as in the morning I have to go every 5 minutes. Im really at a loss as what to do. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn I started getting odd urinary tract infections a year or so back which seemed to puzzle my doctors, they had no explanation for it,the urinary infections were triggered once I consumed too much sugar and my urine would smell bad. the doctors i've seen haven't been much help for me in diagnosing any of my allergy problems,i'm guessing this is very difficult to test for .
Avatar n tn The infection could be bacterial, yeast, or a combination. Usually urinary tract infections are accompanied by the symptoms of increased frequency of urination, and/or drinking, dribbling, or inappropriate urination. However, occasionally the only symptom is licking the vulvar area. It would be best to have your dog examined by a vet of course, but at least bring a fresh urine sample to your vet for urinalysis to help differentiate between a urinary tract infection and vaginal infection.

Avatar m tn Urethritis may present with burning pain in urination and a discharge. Prostatitis may present with straining in urination, increased urinary frequency , urinary discomfort and tenderness in the area between the scrotum and anus. A fungal infection may cause prostatitis but rarely so. Usually , bacterial infections are still the more common cause.
Avatar f tn I'm 67 years old. I've been having urinary frequency and I had a post void retention test done and it was 50ml. My urologist told me I'm not emptying my bladder completely but isn't she wrong. Is a 50ml a normal value?
Avatar f tn Hello, In your case, one important possibility to be ruled out is of interstitial cystitis which can be found in males and can cause pain associated with urination (dysuria), urinary frequency (as often as every 10 minutes), urgency, and/or pressure in the bladder and/or pelvis. You should discuss this possibility with your urologist. Apart from that, another cause which needs to be excluded is diabetes.
Avatar m tn m flying solo Anyways, so after ruling everything out and about to go insane my wife and I looked into yeast infections and I wanted to suggest this to any MALE sufferers out there that are experiencing itching inside the penis, around the head or tip and around their genitals accompanied by burning or pain when urinating and you have no clue what it is while at the same time you've exhausted all your options and have been checked for everything it seems.
Avatar f tn How do you tell the difference between a urinary tract infection and yeast infectiy?
Avatar n tn Hi, I can understand your situation. Urinary tract infections are common in children. The usual approach is to treat the child first and obtain imaging studies of the urinary tract. Following birth, heavy colonisation with aerobic bacteria normally becomes established in both sexes. Because of the shorter length of the urethra in females there is a greater chance of getting urinary tract infection due to contamination from the anus.
Avatar n tn ( If this irritation/urinary frequency persists and no one can find the cause, what do I do next?
Avatar m tn 32 year old healthy male. Have had on and off urinary frequency for about 7 or 8 years now. Been to 3 different urologists, none wanted to get invasive bc no infection, DRE showed OK, no blood...basically no signs of anything wrong. But I made these appointments for a reason. The urge frequency was sometimes unbearable!! Anyhow started on Flomax, and in just one day noticed the frequency (6-8x day to 4x) and urgency diminished. If no BPH...how is the Flomax working??? Thanks!
Avatar n tn As for the urinary frequency and vaginal soreness, there are many potential causes with STDs, non-STD genital infections, and urinary tract infections leading the list. You say you were tested for STDs and the tests were negative. What tests were performed? - gonorrhea and chlamydia I suspect but what about trichomoniasis? Bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections (even without discharge) can cause the sorts of symptoms you describe, as can urinary tract infections.
Avatar f tn Burning with wiping sounds like yeast, but frequency of urination sounds like a urinary tract infection. You could try Pyridium (also called Azo-Standard). It is OTC at a drug store. That will anesthetize your urinary tract (and also turn your urine fluorescent orange, so use a pantiliner). You can take cranberry pills to acidify your urine if anesthetizing your bladder fixes the pain. That could help you overcome a urinary tract infection.
Avatar f tn So I've been having issues with urinary frequency for a few years now and I wasn't able to go to a doctor often due to lack of insurance and the couple times I did their tests came up with nothing. I have insurance now so I've been going to the doctor every couple weeks, I've been diagnosed and treated for bacterial vaginosis, an e. coli infection and a yeast infection and I feel like a lot of the irritation has gone away but one symptom is really bothering me.
Avatar n tn The symptoms are itching, watery and malodorous discharge, urinary frequency. The vagina may appear red with small red raised papules. A microscopic exam of a saline wet moutn of a sample will show flagellated cells. If its a bacterial vaginosis the cells will look like typical 'clue cells.' This produces a fouly fishy rotten odor. Yeast infections produce a thick and white discharge. Either way, a physical exam is required to collect a sample for analysis.
Avatar n tn Tingling, quick shooting pains and light discharge with minor backache. also urinary frequency..it will not stop even though I am taking valtrex. I initially thought I had a uti but took 2 diff antibiotics and no relief from symptoms. I know what prodrome symptoms are and always the same in 4 years. Please tell me why these symptoms wont stop! What do I do, I am miserable for a month. Am I contagious even though no ob, just symptoms?
Avatar n tn however, I also have urinary urgency/frequency and then I noticed something strange. Whenever I have a drink (say, a glass of wine), immediately I get this horrible feeling in my vaginal area and sort of a burning urgency. Very hard to describe but I do get it anytime I drink something alcoholic. I wondered if anyone else has had this and what it could signify? I forgot to mention it to the doctor. Thank you!
Avatar n tn I am having very frequent urinations with pelvic pain, bloating and traces of blood in my urine. Culture and Urinary tests were negative for bacteria and xray show no sign of kidney stones. What could be wrong?
Avatar n tn It is a primarily female syndrome in which women suffer from irritative bladder symptoms (urinary frequency, urgency, burning , and a hesitant or slowed urinary stream) in the absence of any objective urologic findings. In this the diagnosis can be made only by the proper collections of urine specimens from both the urethra and the bladder. These specimens will reveal the presence of white blood cells in the urethral washings, while the midstream (bladder) specimen will be free of cells.

Avatar f tn Although vaginal itching is the hallmark of yeast infections and other vaginal infections (including sexually transmitted diseases, STDs), itching in the vagina and vulvar areas has multiple causes. Vaginal itching can also arise due to chemical irritants that may be found in detergents or soaps, douches and vaginal creams, toilet paper, bath products, feminine hygiene products, and vaginal contraceptive products.
Avatar n tn You can get a bacterial infection from having sex with someone who has one or just from having poor hygiene in general. What type of bacterial infection do you mean?
