Yeast infections and iud

Common Questions and Answers about Yeast infections and iud

Once it is in place it is a uterus thing and I never heard of yeast infections starting from the uterus. Mind you, my iud memories are about 15 years old, I don`t know if there is still a string on them nowadays...I got pregnant despite one and never used that method again.
I have decided to come off the oral contraceptive pill Microgynon as I was getting constant yeast infections and I was always feeling irritated and sore. I have also tried Depo but I bled like crazy and also caused yeast to flare up. My doctor suggested the copper iud as it has no hormones but I read that this also causes problems with yeast - is this true?
I have previously taken OC's and had recurrent yeast infections. My Doc suggested an iud and that's what we did. Two years later, I am still spotting almost daily and have periods that last about 10 days. Consequently, I have become anemic due to a lack of iron. Other than condoms, nuva ring and the patch, what are my options? Please help!
men CAN have yeast infections (their doctors may call it "jock itch" which can make it tough for a guy to even know he has a yeast infection), and women who are sexual partners can also transmit them between each other. Other health conditions or diseases: a common way women find out they have adult-onset Diabetes, for instance, is often due to getting chronic yeast infections.
I have had a couple uti's and a couple yeast infections in the past. Not currently sexually active. I have had a Paraguard iud for about a year with pretty minimal problems. I am also a medical professional who used to assist a female wellness Dr. A couple weeks ago I had very mild pain that lead me to suspect a UTI so I drink more water and took Canberry supplements. I had also been noticing the same abnormal discharge I experienced with a yeast infections in the past, so used monistat.
I have a serious problem with reoccuring yeast infections and uti's. I don't have hiv or aids. I have been tested because that is known to cause this. I try to get medication as soon as possible but still get them monthly. Any suggestions on how to prevent these that I haven't heard before? (no tight pants, cotton underwear, urinating after sex) Also is affecting my fertility?
I don't think iud mirena give you fish odor. I think it's more yeast infection. I have iud for 4 1/2 years and never experience any fishy odor. I have only 1 day period, but as far as i known, there are no infection. Do you think you could get from STD?
i know this isnt the child health forum, but everyone is always so helpful, i was perscribed antibiotics(post iud removal, to avoid infection), ive been taking them for 3 days and my daughters vaginal area became a red, i know that antibiotics can cause yeast infections, but can it travel through breastmilk and cause her to get one?
I HATE those kinds of yeast infections! Have you also tried probiotics, acidophilus, boric acid capsules, and dietary modification? To answer your question, there should be no reason why an iud would be contraindicated--you are correct that yeast rarely spreads into the upper reproductive tract. If you are switching from oral contraceptives, that may help with the yeast problem. OCs seem to make people more prone to yeast infection. Good luck!
What exactly can you do if you have been seen and been treated for yeast infections and no antibiotics oral or suppository has worked to get rid of it? I have had this issues close to two years and doctors seem to be blowing me off about it when I know there has to be a underlining cause for this please help this is literally killing me.
Mirena iud was the worst birth control i ever tried. I gave it 5 months before i finally had it taken out. I had constant yeast infections which i'd never had before the iud. Dr would never admit iud was the cause but since it has been taken out i've never had another one again. It's been 2 yrs!
I had mine removed after having recurrent BV infections. Just be careful and aware. Hopefully, it works for you. I liked mine until the problems began. Still not sure if the iud had anything to do with the BV issues, but I never had issues until after the iud was in place. Makes you stop to say, hmmmm!
(I have read that baths can aggravate yeast infections, so I assume swimming can be just as bad.) and while I'm not very versed on iud's I do know that some infections can lead to infertility if untreated, so sooner you see a dr. the better.
Hi, I've been having this gooey clear yellowish substance coming out of my vagina its like a baby yellowish color it has no odor but it has been coming out threw out the whole day everyday I've also had a iud put inside me and had it for about 6 months now and since I've had it I have been experiencing some cramping pain everyday threw out the day and I've had open sexual contact with another mate can any one help me with this please email me any answers.
My PCP did blood work, stress test and nothing else going on so I am getting rid of the iud and GYN too. Not the panacea they make it out to be.
While being prego with my son I had a yeast infection(YI) every month and he is a year old no and I am now plagued with chronic yeast infections. I will get one then take either the pills for it or the cream insurted stuff or both and that means no intercourse with my husband till it clears up which is like 7-10 then after we have sex bam 2-3 days later infection and yes he has taken the proper pills to make sure he was not getting a male yeast infection.
Tell him you will not give him anything until he goes to the doctors cause that is what happened to me and my husband I kept getting yeast off and on and I made my husband go and we were giving it back and fourth.......He might not have it but you never know...
I went to my GYN to have the iud removed and she agreed that it was just a yeast infection. I got the one day pill but after 2 days it didn't seem to go away. I then did a one day over the counter monistat gel. The gel for some reason came back out on the tip of the applicator. I tried to put it back up there but ended up just making a mess. Here I am 3 days later and I'm still a little itchy. The other problem I'm having is a very itchy anus.
My original question was whether the mirena iud could be causing increased yeast infections & labial "bumps", but after reading some of the entries, I think I may be right on target. I also have been noticing an increase in mental & mood changes & forgetfulness, as I have read in some of these entries. I have been blaming alot of it on getting older (close to 40).
The various causes for vaginal bleeding after sex are STDs like Chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis, cervical polyps, yeast infections, non specific vaginitis, endometriosis, cervical dysplasia which is a precancerous condition, uterine polyps, uterine fibroids and cervicitis. None of them are conditions that should be ignored.

Pain is horrible (feels like contractions) my husband was bleesed so it hurts like hell during sex and afterwards. I get yeast infections often. Because kids are expensive I'm keeping it.
29th because time was up for me to have it in and I was very ready to have it removed due to very persistent, recurring yeast and bacterial infections over the course of the 3 years I had it in. I have since noticed that I no longer have that problem, along with no more pain with sex and my husband mentioned how much better it feels in there, LOL. Has anyone had this happen to them? Did you have problems and then notice them resolved after the removal of an iud?
