About a week after the event, I camed down with an upper respiratory infection and was prescribed a Z Pak. I was to take the first 2 pill the first night, a total of 500 mg and 250 mg for the following four days. My question is... do you think that is effective against eliminating Gonnorhea if I were to have it? And what other STD's could this take care of?

Agree with the above suggestion that taking a random antibiotic will not help with any infection. The commonest pathogen (agent) causing throat infections is a group A Streptococcus bacteria. Besides this Group B Streptococcus, mycoplasma, neisseria and cornybacterium are known to cause throat infections. Other known pathogens causing infections of the throat are viral and yeast (candida).
I had something like that, an upper respitory infection and was completely miserable with congestion, coughing, extremely painful sore throat, and head pressure :( I got prescribed a z-pak (antibiotics) and they helped but I stayed sick for like 11 days.
Over a week ago I had a bad sinus infection I was given a Z Pak and Prednisone ( this might have nothing to do with this but i am wondering if I am having a reaction to either one) I have been off of both meds for about 3 days now after completing them and yesterday rash started on my neck and upper chest. What should I do?
well,where do i start,i was put on azithrymicin,z pak, got bacteria vaginosis,was given a round of flagyl after 10 days after being on the z pak,developed thrush and only took 2 flagyl so i never cleared the bv. took nyastin for a week did not work,then fluconzole for a week ,1 pill 100 mg for 7 days,worked ut i think i got lichen planus in my mouth. tongue hurts and burning,now i still have o take flagyl to clear up the bv.
Based on posts on here, it seems that the risk of contracting an STD in this manner is very small, and the risk of having contracted something but being asymptomatic is also very small. Also, about two months after that, I had strep throat and my doctor gave me a Z-pak regimen of antibiotics, which I understand from other posts would be expected to clear up something like gonorrhea or chlamydia.
whitish discharge could also indicate a yeast infection would could delay your period. However, it could also be an early sign of pregnancy. If I were in your position I wuold wait one more week and take another test with first morning urine. If it is still negative and your period has not shown, contact your ob.
Yes, it scars your lungs. I've had it 5 times in my life now (first was around 15 yrs old)... and I've had anti-biotic resistant strain before resulting in hospitalization while pregnant with twins. I took 4 days of the Z-pak and the pneumonia got worse. I ended up hospitalized for a week and lost the babies in 2005. I have it again right now. Just make sure you listen to your body. My current doc told me I had Bronchitis.
When I went to the Doctor she said it was “a three-week thing that is going around”. She gave me the ubiquitous Z-pak “just in case”. I felt somewhat better, but it may have just run its course after those three weeks.
In Nov. I had a sinus infection. Went to the same doc in Dec., got the Z-Pak. Got a little better. Had another one in Jan, but mild. Had a bad one in Feb. This time, I said that the Z-pak was not doing anything. Took Levaquin for a week (750mg\day). Felt much better.
I began a round of the z-pack early this week for a bacterial infection (I have been sick for a month now; the dr. thinks it started as a cold and then I picked up a secondary infection), and just finished it up yesterday. I had started to feel better on the 3rd day of taking the antibiotics, but then yesterday on the day of the last dosage and even more so today (the 1st day off) I feel terrible again, with a lot of mucous, coughing, sinus issues. Can I go to the dr.
Put some lotrimin on it since it looked like a yeast infection. that seemed to clear up the itchy red rash, but I started having a lot of burning pain around my vulva and it felt swollen. then I got a sore on my labia, just one that looked like an ingrown hair (I had shaved a few days before and had some ingrown hairs) so I popped it - which was weird because it didn't pop like an ingrown hair and there was no hair and it just bled and bled and bled.
Will the Z-pak/ steroids help with any infection I might have- if it is UTI or kidney infection? Could I have gotten a UTI because I waited so long to go to the doctor with my chest/sinus infection?
I guess I will be calling my doctor when he gets in on Monday, but I would appreciate any help that might alleviate my high stress level over this!

I've had a fever between 100.5-101.8 over the last two days, burning urination, blood in urine, slight fatigue at night, and no other symptoms. I just began taking an unused Z-pak I've had. I know this could be chlamydia, gonorrhea, and or UTI.
1) Will Z-pak help? 2) What other drug/dosage is commonly prescribed for UTIs?
I also asked about a yeast/fungus infection - after the z-pack I almost immediately came down with case of jock itch which I treated successfully with OTC cream. He did a swab culture of the inside of my urethra and I'm awaiting results. I plan to go to a clinic this week to take more STD tests. Am I worrying too much here? What other possibilities are there? From what I hear herpes can show up without sores but it shouldn't be itching/burning like this for a month+. Yeast?
Wondering if I should take the z pak because I have been on 7 different courses of antibotics in 7 months or less and thy were amoxicillin , (September ) , clyidmcin ( October ) . Cedfur ( November ) had a uti in late November or early December antibotics for that too penicillin ( late December) went to dentist he prescribed that! Early January ( clyidmcin ) again went bc tooth was hurting really bad all the way to ear .
