Avatar m tn I read somewhere that the yellowish coloring has to do with yeast overgrowth on the scalp. Maybe try some Nizoral shampoo which is an antifungal shampoo. Use it at least 3-4 times a week, leave on your scalp for approx. 5 minutes each use to allow the medicine to do its work. It usually takes several weeks to help clear the scalp. Another dietary trick that works for my family (which we found out accidentally) is to eat a gluten free diet (look up on the internet). Go figure.

890634 tn?1241186679 Mine is a prolonded allergic reaction to lice (which I do not have now, but had about 6 weeks ago) and the medicines I slathered on my head (mostly ovide) I am going to the derm again on Wed. In the mean time, I have started on Diflucan (for a yeast infection) and I am hoping that may offer some relief since some evidence has been found to link yeast with seborrheic dermatitis. Although Diflucan is not normally prescribed for that.
Avatar n tn In late December, I had a yeast infection on my genitals. At the same time/slightly before this I notice dry flaky skin at the corners of my mouth. I treated the penile infection with a 2% (I think) miconazole nitrate cream; Applying for the most part, twice a day. Fast forward several months, I have what looks like sebhorreic dermatitis on my forehead (starting from above/in between my eyebrows), sides of my nose spreading downward around my mouth. and a patch on the back of my neck.
Avatar f tn If you have oily skin, the green one is great too. You can try aloe vera on your scalp for cooling comfort. It is also a gentle antifungal. Has the hair texture changed? Just curious. You are very fortunate your hair is still thick. Eat in a way that reduces inflammation and yeast growth. That is, little sugar and refined floury foods. Consume healthy fats and lots of fruits and vegetables.
Avatar f tn It sounds like classic Candida Yeast infection. Ask for the test, I bet it will show positive. It is a yeast that lives in the gut and can cause all kinds of problems, a lot of which you have. Google it, you will be amazed. To help until you see a doctor, take a good, pro-biotic supplement, this will help but friendly bacteria back in your gut and system.
Avatar m tn Can someone help me connect the dots? Do I have an std or a simple yeast infection? How do I get tested for a yeast infection? It seems that treatment for yeast is a long, impossible, diet of zero sugar. Is there an easier way? Please help.
Avatar f tn Hi, My vulve started to itch 6 months ago after I had an intercourse with my boyfriend. His genital was itchy too. He bought a yeast infection cream and it was gone. Mine wasn’t. I’ve seen doctors and tried a lot of traitements for yeast infection, nothing worked. I did bacterial test, std test, they didn’t find anything. I tried cortisone cream, I tried natural remedies (coconut oil, Aloe Vera, tea tree oil, lavender oil, baking soda in my bath.
Avatar n tn It is characterised by small, very itchy pustules within the scalp, often most troublesome on the frontal hairline. The scalp should be washed with a mild normal shampoo as often as desired. Antidandruff shampoos containing antifungal agents such as ketoconazole or ciclopirox are sometimes helpful. Apart from that you need topical and oral antibiotics, antihistamines, oral steroids and topical tretinoin. My sincere advice is to get it examined from a dermatologist.
1423392 tn?1286590390 My LLMD said he had never seen anyone with such high levels of fungal/yeast infection on a blood test, so he was (in his calm way) kinda flipped out too, I think. I think I've mentioned before that at the same time, I stripped all carbs out of my diet and stuck to greens and proteins. No fruit, no starchy veg, no grains except quinoa, which is actually a seed. I lost a lot of my hair while on Diflucan (mainly on top) so my scalp was visible somewhat ...
Avatar m tn I have a stubborn penile fungal infection for over 2.5 years and now several months ago it has spread onto my face and scalp. I have consulted several doctors who have prescribed me anti-fungal creams and oral medications which has helped me very little, but not able to cure it permanently. Once I stop applying the anti-fungal cream within 2 days I notice red bumps on my penis head & within 4 or 5 days I see a thick yellow cheese like mold on my penis head.
Avatar f tn an inflammatory rash of uncertain cause that is commonly seen on the scalp, behind the ears and in the skin folds. -thrush (candida): this infection is probably the most common. -contact allergy: constituents of skincare products. Penile yeast infections can present as red dots on the glans. This can be treated with anti-fungal medications like Monistat applied on the affected areas.
Avatar n tn Fungal infections of the human body are very common, and are often quite bothersome. One such example is a condition known as tinea versicolor, a superficial yeast infection that produces white spots on the skin that are difficult to remove. You should talk to your doctor and rule out the above causes. Let us know if you need any other information. Regards.
Avatar n tn The white wetty substance on you scalp is most likely excess scalp buildup from a fungus or yeast infection. A great natural shampoo to use is Tea Tree shampoo. Tea Tree is a natural anti fungal and antibacterial herb. This shampoo is sold online and also in health stores. There is no harm in trying this, you will probably notice you scalp returning to a normal balance.
Avatar f tn I do not think there is a connection between the skin bumps, scalp itchiness and the fungal infection on the toenails. Unless you are frequently picking on the affected nails, then this fungal infection could not really be transmitted to the scalp and cause the scalp itchiness. I suggest that you wash hands frequently. Keep your body clean and dry. You may use a Vitamin E cream to moisturize to avoid extreme dryness which may lead to the itchiness.

Avatar f tn Hi everyone. I had surgery in January for kidney stones (that was unsuccessful) and right after surgery I started having numerous symptoms affecting my whole body. My most recent started 2 or 3 weeks ago with a rash on my inner thigh that at first I thought was just from friction. Over time it's gotten worse, itchy and is also on the left side of my scalp/head. On my thigh it is tender, pink to red colored, Very itchy, and gets puffy when scratched.
Avatar f tn I have developed eczema, and itchy skin, I occasionally have a low grade fever for days for no reason, I have had a few random swollen lymphnodes, yeast was found on my wet prep when I have never had a yeast infection before, and I just noticed a scalp on my scalp which is a skin condition associated with HIV. I also saw him this past weekend and he had some sort of rash on his back that appeared to be from yeast.
Avatar f tn You may have a systemic yeast infection. Do you eat a lot of sugar or carbs? The yeast thrive on the sugar. Two family members also seem to be struggling with this yeast, mold on their scalp. This is a very old post, so hopefully you have found some solutions for yourself. Try googling stinky scalp syndrome. Read about the link between diet, gut health, and killing the yeast, mold and bacteria that create the odor. We are just now trying to get a hold on this.
1269698 tn?1295896211 being on your period and now being on antibiotics can also increase your odds for a yeast infection in a few weeks. follow up with more testing as needed.
Avatar f tn Try and experiment with reducing sugar and carbs in the diet to start. Yeast thrives off of the sugars and proliferate and the bacteria that exists on your scalp increase and create the odor. I have been reading up on this as my daughter and husband both struggle with scalp issues... We recently tried an apple cider, lemon and cool water rinse that we made, which you leave on your scalp and hair for 30 mins (be careful not to get it in your eyes!). We are also trying T-gel shampoo.
Avatar n tn I suggest you go back to your doctor and let him know that what you have been using has not helped. It may be that you should use it more frequently. There are other shampoos like Nizorel, or your doctor could prescribe you with something different. For the dandruff flakes you could try rubbing some baby oil into your scalp and leave it on for a while before washing it off with a gentle shampoo. It may be that whatever you were using before may have irritated your scalp. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn There is hair loss with visible scalp disease and there is hair loss without scalp disease. In your case, the hair loss may be associated with both the fungal infection and another underlying condition of seborrheic dermatitis. At this point, there is really no effective medical therapy for hair loss. If your hair loss is associated with tinea and seborrheic dermatitis then the underlying disorders need to be addressed first. Hair loss also has a genetic basis.
Avatar n tn i was given pills but nothing seems to work,my boyfriend has a very bad dandruff problem,do you think i caught it from the brush i used or the pillow?
Avatar m tn ) which may also have been secondarily infected with yeast. Prescribed Ketoconozole for the probable/possible yeast infection, as well as mometasone furoate for the psoriasis. Have been dealing with dry cracked skin on anal region forever it seems, but once I got these dry scaly areas on penis I finally put it all together (or the doc did), now I have the answer I believe. It does not itch, and is in separate distinct red patches, which my doctor thinks points to psoriasis, not fungal/yeast.
Avatar n tn t have sexual activity with a yeast infection. You are passing it back and forth between you and your friend. Get some Rescue Remedy to calm your nerves and see a female gynecologist. What happens is that you go into the room and they give you a drape to put on. So you have the drape between you and the MD and it is very impersonal and easy. You pretend you are someplace else basically. That was how it was explained to me and I just thought of it like that and it was fine.
Avatar m tn Thanks you so much for your help on this. At her next examination I will ask for a culture and let you know the results.
