I have had tingling and painful sensations on my scalp for a couple of weeks and shortly thereafter broke out with these pustules. Could this be shingles?
) which may also have been secondarily infected with yeast. Prescribed Ketoconozole for the probable/possible yeast infection, as well as mometasone furoate for the psoriasis. Have been dealing with dry cracked skin on anal region forever it seems, but once I got these dry scaly areas on penis I finally put it all together (or the doc did), now I have the answer I believe. It does not itch, and is in separate distinct red patches, which my doctor thinks points to psoriasis, not fungal/yeast.
From reading and research, i'm prone to yeast infection, and i believe it could be on my scalp, but have been to different DR's, and even a dermatologist, and none will ev en listen to me when i mention yeast overgrowth on my scalp. It's frustrating! All they want to do is keep prescribing antibiotics and steroids. Even the local lab (GAmma labs) here in my town won't perform lab tests without a DR's order.
Mine is a prolonded allergic reaction to lice (which I do not have now, but had about 6 weeks ago) and the medicines I slathered on my head (mostly ovide) I am going to the derm again on Wed. In the mean time, I have started on Diflucan (for a yeast infection) and I am hoping that may offer some relief since some evidence has been found to link yeast with seborrheic dermatitis. Although Diflucan is not normally prescribed for that.
I had real flowers in my hair for my wedding and two days later had this terrible scalp infection. Took over a month to get rid of, but eventually went away.
There is a sandy-grainy like build up on my scalp This is also accompanied by an itch. Even after I wash my hair, the grainy like build up is still there. It is NOT flaky what so ever. My hair has also started to fall out and at the end of my hair, a white little grain is at the end. Hair will not stop falling out. I have gotten blood tests at a dermatology office and everything was normal. I also have tried about very type of zinc pyrithione shampoo, at the highest concentrations.
The exact cause of seborrheic dermatitis is not well established however it has been associated with a yeast infection. I would suggest that you have scalp scrapings microscopically evaluated to ascertain if a fungal infection is present. Washing the scalp with medicated shampoo like selenium sulfide twice a week may be able to help. In between , frequent and vigorous washing with regular shampoo may also be able to help.

Discuss this further with your physician so you may be guided accordingly. I understand that you are highly anxious about this. However, if the underlying scalp infection has been present for years ,I believe these recurring scalp infections may be contributing to the hair loss.
In late December, I had a yeast infection on my genitals. At the same time/slightly before this I notice dry flaky skin at the corners of my mouth. I treated the penile infection with a 2% (I think) miconazole nitrate cream; Applying for the most part, twice a day. Fast forward several months, I have what looks like sebhorreic dermatitis on my forehead (starting from above/in between my eyebrows), sides of my nose spreading downward around my mouth. and a patch on the back of my neck.
the interal area where I TRULY feel my skin condition is manifesting. Meaning... I don't just have fungus on my skin... I have a yeast infection INSIDE of my body that manifests on the skin. FML.
I've had a constant yeast infection for years that won't go away. I was diagnosed with a yeast infection when I was young and it has never cured. Recently I tried Monistat 1 day treatment which didn't help and a few weeks later I tried Monistat 3 day ovule pack and that still didn't help. I have a white discharge, noticable yeast, and occasional itching. Sex is uncomfortable and afterwards I feel raw. I don't know what else to do to get rid of it. Any suggestions?
Hello.. I've had this exact issue. However I have a few questions before I can rule anything out. Do you wear any hairnets for work? Does anything come into contact with your head for more than four hours? Do you, or had athletes foot in the past year? "Personal question" .. have you been in contact with a sexual partner with a yeast infection?? Just ruling out several environmental possibilities.
Hi. These red spots on the scalp may be due to a seborrheic dermatitis and yeast infection. Other differentials are psoriasis and lupus. I do not want to alarm you. These are just differentials which means they need to be excluded and shall only be used as a guide for your physician in assessing your condition. I placed them here as a point of discussion. Seborrheic dermatitis may present with whitish to yellowish greasy scales that flake off. They may present in other parts of the body.

Over time it's gotten worse, itchy and is also on the left side of my scalp/head. On my thigh it is tender, pink to red colored, Very itchy, and gets puffy when scratched. It has multiple pea sized nodules and most are clustered together. The ones on my head are more spread out, also itchy but seem to be more flesh colored. The thigh rash has no head or anything but my hubby looked at my scalp and said it looked like one busted and had like a hole in the middle.
One determined that due to the itching and scratching following the initial infection, I developed a yeast infection. The other dermatologist now believes that I have dermatitis, which she said will probably be a permanent problem for me. I have never before in my life had any problems with my scalp, not even dandruff. While I am very thankful that....thus far I have had no hair loss.
In feeling around, I have noticed that there are a few other pimple-like bumps on or around my scalp. Currently, the lymph node remains swollen but there is zero pain. The pimples are still there and my bump seems to leak once a month. I recently noticed my scalp is a little itchier than before (though I admit I am thinking about this a lot so it could be in my head) and I discovered one more spot that had drained.
My fulliculatis is only happening on my scalp, I don't have it on my beard or anywhere on my body. I don't even have acne. So far all swabs have came back sterile, so there is no staph infection that is causing this. I had some alopecia problems on my beard, so I m guessing this is an immune problem. Beside that I am very fit 6,3 ft and healthy, no HIV , Herpes or Diabities. If anyone else have ideas on this condition or like to share your experiences I would be happy to know.
I bought Head and Shoulders Citrus Breeze shampoo, applied it to my scalp only, before I shampooed, on a dry head. I left it on my scalp for ten minutes, wet my hair and washed it with the shampoo already on my scalp, rinsed, and washed my hair two more times, scrubbing thoroughly. For the first time in forever, my scalp smelled so fresh when I dried my hair and on the second day after washing, NO SMELLY SCALP.
I started in 6th grade, I am a 26 year old female. I have 5-9 scalp I pick at a time on my scalp. I have long black hair and cant wear certain styles because my problem will be seen and people would laugh or judge me. I started med school last year, and the people around me everyday are medically smart and are starting to pick up that my fingers are in my hair pulling out scabs.
I had a shooting pain in the back left portion of my head. It was on and off for several years. I also noticed that I would get bumps on my scalp that would bleed if I picked them off. I thought these were unrelated issues, but I tried a new shampoo. I went and got a bottle of Denorex shampoo (with Salicylic Acid as the active ingredient). I used that everyday for about 3 months and then scaled back to 3-4 times a week.
I have this same exact problem. My doctor put me on acutane too because right around when i got the stickiness of the scalp i started getting bad acne too. My sticky hair went away while i was taking acutane but came back a couple months after I stopped taking acutane. It is an extremley frustrating problem. I found the thing that helps for a couple to few weeks is dying my hair and/or getting a scalp treatment at the hair salon. Let me know if you find a remedy that works on a daily basis!
Jock itch is the same thing as a yeast infection luckily us guys don't have an embarassing description such as the term yeast infection. Athelets foot is also considered the same thing, just on a different body part. I have been through the unbelievable embarasment with filling prescriptions, because unfournutley for men there is no prescription yeast infection medicine specificly for me.
I was diagnosed with a staph infection and yeast infection and treated for that, but the problems didn't seem to go away. Before all of these problems happened I started taking this natural dietary supplement called zenmed internal cleansing supplements. The pills are supposed to regulate hormone levels, cleanse endocrine system, detoxify and cleanse liver system, and relaxing the nervous system.
I've had a smelly scalp for as long as I can remember (30 years?) and had given up on finding a solution. Thought I'd try researching it again and found this discussion. Many people have mentioned oil as a contributor. I rarely have oily hair from my scalp. My hair is very dense, thick, and dry. (I thought maybe I have this condition because my scalp can't breath with all this hair...
I feel like patm is caused by a fungus or infection somewhere in the body like my scalp infection. It makes perfect sense. With my scalp problem, microbial bacteria feeds of the excess oil and extracts the smell which could be causing the people to sneeze and cough. Sort of like pollen flying with the wind and tickling your nose which causes the sneeze reaction. I noticed cheap shampoos caused people to sneeze more than good natural shampoos(in my case).
I regretfully purchased the Dry scalp shampoo and Dipronex drops. Shame on Me! However, first impressions can last a lifetime, and I will never return to Moore Unique Dermatology and Spa in Houston, Texas to see Dr. Milton Moore. Customer Service and Customer Care should ALWAYS outweigh GREED. A smart business owner understands that showing your customers/clients that you are willing to put their needs before yours, will create loyal and referral clients forever...
I also have a rash on my neck and scalp. It started out as a very itchy scalp, particularly behind the ears. My whole family inspected each other for lice - nothing. No one else has the scalp itch. A few days of scratching and wondering, it started spreading down onto my neck with very itchy bumps appearing. My husband has re-inspected me for lice several times.
