Adding the good yeast helps get rid of the bad yeast. Secondly I use Gentian Violet a natural herb you get from the pharmacy and swab the area 2 times a day for 4 days. I plan to take a lot of yogurt and avoid yeast feeding diet to control it. What else can I do? Is kefir milk OK to take during pregnancy? This is my first and everything freaks me out...pl advise.

Boric acid doesn't even sound safe to take internally or externally. Boric Acid is a toxin used to kill rodents. I have heard of one home remedy for boric acid, and that is for ear aches...and that doesn't even sound safe to me. Only your OB can tell you what is safe to treat your yeast infection. I know Monistat is safe to use. Please don't ever try to self diagnose or treat yourself during pregnancy, it's not worth the consequences to your baby.

They sell over the counter medication for this -- little eggs that you follow directions and place in the vagina at night when you go to bed and this releases the medicine. Takes a few days. But since you've never been diagnosed with a yeast infection, doctors recommend seeing them for diagnosis (they swab it) the first time and treatment. They make a pill you take for it too.
Did he do a culture on any of the spots?

I have had a reoccurring infection after a root canal over the past two years. Now my hands & feet are swelling up and showing arthritis like symptoms. Very painful. I am having mouth surgery very soon to "clean out" the cavity that has formed from the infection eating away the bone tissue in the area near where the root canal was done.
m more likely to have yeast infection than fungal infection. I read in a few sites that some over the counter remedy for yeast infection for woman will work on men. I will try some of those and see if it works and hopefully it does. if not then ill have to see a doctor about it. In a way, I guess its better than having fungal infection.

I have a yeast infection. I bought Monistat 1 OVULE and inserted it on Monday night. It is Thursday now. I just have slight itching, but the discharge coming out of my vagina is not the cream anymore, it's more like a white, small-lumpy, not-liquid texture. I pulled some out with a q-tip. It almost looks like it has a slightly yellowish tint to it. Is this a yeast-cream mix or what? Should I be worried?...Should I follow up with Monistat 7, or is this just the healing process?
