Avatar f tn A week later I got a call and they had said the infection was caused by the bacteria Group B Strep and gave me Amoxicillin to take for 7 days. I had sex on the last day of taking the antibiotics and the next day I noticed cuts near the opening of my vagina and discharge and itching. I had thought I had gotten a yeast infection since I normally get yeast infections after taking antibiotics.
7922758 tn?1396296070 Bacterial vaginosis is caused by bacteria, yeast infections are caused by yeast (fungus). They are not one in the same. I am a nurse myself and they can tell by examining you at the Dr exactly what you're dealing with.
Avatar n tn Yeast infection is caused by Candida albicans, it is a fungal organism that is present in everyone’s intestinal tract. It is normally kept under control by the immune system and by beneficial intestinal bacteria. This balance is upset when these bacteria are destroyed (typically by antibiotics), when our immune function is impaired (typically due to stress or illness), or when we develop environmental or food sensitivities.
Avatar n tn m not sure what doxy is but I do know that many medicines and especially antibiotics can cause yeast infections. The biggest cause is changes in hormones which are caused by taking these. They are also caused by pregnancy. Pardon me by saying this but you also might not have been the cleanest down there one time before you had intercourse with her or if you had gone from anal to the vagina. Sorry If I'm so blunt, but I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Yeast infections caused from antibiotics are very common, I'd definitely talk to your doctor about it but a yeast infection is nothing to worry about!

1605050 tn?1297822804 Just recently my well lady parts (lol) have been itchy and just painful because of a yeast infection. Usually I take one dose of the monistat and it goes away by the next day or two days. My mom had some in the cabinet and I used about half a dose of that and rubbed some on the outside and it was very uncomfortable but the box warned it would cause more irritation and etc. Anyways, today at work I went to pee and I noticed some bright red blood on my panty liner.
Avatar f tn I was having servere pain in my middle back in the right side so at 1 am on the 5th I went to the er at that point was 22 weeks and 4 days they admitted me into labor and delivery where they found out the pain was due to a kidney infection they kept me on an IV with antibiotics until I was discharged this morning they sent me home with more antibiotics to take to finish fighting the infection but since I got home this morning my vagina has been kinda itchy when I itch it it hurts could that be a
Avatar f tn If its thrush in the vagina that is just basically a yeast infection... caused by a certain type of bacteria. (I think). I don't think it affects the baby. Good luck and I hope you get it taken care of quickly!
Avatar f tn That symptom was replaced by itching of my clitoris and external surrounding areas, there was no abnormal discharge , i researched it on the internet and i figure that i have a yeast infection. Now i have a thickish whitish yellow discharge but it isn't cottage cheesy like others have described. Right now the itching is still there but it isn't anything like it was its quite a bit better and mostly itchy around the clit area.
Avatar m tn It sounds like a yeast infection caused by antibiotics that she was probably taking for PID. When you kill the good bacteria with antibiotics, you can get a yeast infection from the imbalance. There are over the counter medications you can try for yeast infection. If it doesn't work, then she should visit the gyn.
Avatar m tn Thanks Grace, I think it been a fungal infection is very possible. Basically a few years ago i took antibiotics for acne, i still suffer from acne now but my skin is very flaky too. This makes me pretty certain i suffer from candida, the last week or so i have had bad cravings for bread and ive eaten alot, to get rid of candida you are supposed to avoid foods with yeast in so this could have caused a problem. I'll see how things go in the next couple of days.
Avatar f tn It can be all from the yeast- even the UTI (most commonly a UTI isn't caused by yeast, but rather bacteria- some UTI's can be caused by yeast). Being on that many antibiotics also increases your chances of yeast issues. Make sure you keep everything clean- only use a towel once, wash all clothing, wash your hands alot and use paper towels to dry them. Stay away from sugar and carbs (even sugar in fruit) and that should help, along with treating the yeast.
Avatar f tn I had three infections which caused me to have my baby at 30 weeks. I had my 7th kidney infection, a horrible yeast infection from the kidney infection antibiotics, and after my water ruptured I got the infection in my water. I was on 4 different antibiotics while in the hospital till the day I left. My baby got put on antibiotics for 4 days for the yeast infection and for the infection in my waters.
Avatar n tn it's not necessarily yeast, it could be Erythrasma (bacteria) Antibiotics do foster yeast infections, it's called Antibiotic candidiasis (also known as "Iatrogenic candidiasis") is a Candidal infection caused by antibiotic use.[1]:311 Antibiotic candidiasis can result from overuse or over-prescription of broad-spectrum antibiotics[2] (such as oxytetracycline commonly used for the control of acne).
5485096 tn?1375574235 Those are pseudo-exacerbations - a flare of our MS symptoms caused by infection or increase in our body temperature. The good news is those also go away once you clear up the infection. Sorry but I had to chuckle quietly as I read your message because I have done the same thing - oblivious to the possibility until it finally dawns on me that I am in the bathroom for the twentieth time or so before noon.
Avatar n tn Hello, If you mean to say that you have urinary tract infection (with burning urination or increased frequency of urination as main symptoms) then it is mainly due to bacteria and not fungal and antibiotics is the main treatment. But if you mean by yeast infection of the vagina (cottage cheese like discharge from vagina as main symptom) then you should use antifungal pessaries. But a diagnosis needs to be made first.
1434838 tn?1285404132 It is more likely a vaginal infection caused by having unprotected sex with a partner that has an infection as well...You don't need to worry. You DO have to go see your DR b/c only antibiotics can get rid of it. Now be careful because antibiotics do cause yeast infections. make sure you tell your dr that you would like a prescription for antibiotics to treat a yeast infection as well just in case you do get one. Good luck!
Avatar n tn yeast infection? I've never heard of males getting yeast in that area. To see worms you would have to spread the cheeks very very far apart, to the point where the worms actually come out because you are exposing the inner anus, if you know what i mean. Does it feel like tickling and movement. Or more of an itchy-burny feeling. Could also be hemmroids that are on the inside. You would not be able to see them. Good idea to see a Doc. Let us know what he says, now I'm curious.
Avatar f tn i read it could be a yeast infection if accompanied by disharge. I do have discharge but no odd smell. I really would hate to have to go through another set of antibiotics while im pregnant. My next doctor appointment is not until Feb. 28th. Could it really be another infection or just the Ph balance? No brown or pink color.. just irritating itchiness.. also, my symptomes have decreased. A normal sign? Or should i be concerned. Last appointment was @ 10 weeks.
Avatar f tn I would almost be 100% willing to bet that this is thrush (Oral Candida Infection). This would be caused by antibiotics, and is quite common (as are yeast infections in women caused by antibiotics). I've never read of HPV causing a tongue coating. In other words, I wouldn't worry. I would suggest having your doctor prescribe some Diflucan. This should clear up the yeast infection and the thrush.
Avatar f tn So I think I have a yeast infection is it okay to take over the counter meds for it? Not the pill but the cream? I know it's tmi sorry :/ 13 weeks and 3 days btw.
