Avatar f tn [quote="anonymous"] When I was a senior in high school I went on Yasmin because I had heard so much about it and my gyno gave me a few samples to try. Well I did try it and LOVED it and stayed on it for about 2 years until my gyno's nurse suggested I try Yaz. She said it was about the same thing and I get shorter periods.
Avatar f tn Any birth control pill, well any birth control that has hormones in it can cause blood clots. But they are normally only risk for those who have a family history of clots, or who have suffered from clots before. I've never been on Yaz and the only birth control pills I have ever taken was/is Yasmin. No they are not the same. Yasmin or Ocella is a lower dose of birth conrtol, while Yaz is prescribed more often to those who suffer from PMDD (Premenstrual dysphoric disorder).
Avatar f tn hi, is it safe to take birth control pills for over a year?? And what medications do you recommend, considering that i have migraine? Yasmin or Diane???
Avatar n tn I do take Yasmin and have for more years than I can remember. I am still on it. I had no idea and no knowledge that Yasmin Birth Control might could cause a pheo. If possible, can you please let me know where you found this information? It scares me quite a bit that I could develop another tumor b/c they said that pheos can be bilateral and I should watch out for that in the future. You can contact me at *****.****AT*****.***. Maybe we could exchange info. I'd appreciate any help!
Avatar n tn I'm at the age when I should not even have this problem, in fact I never did before, but lately I've been experiencing acne on my face. Anyone knows about good birth control pill as far as skin is concerned? I have tried many already, but they don't seem to work... thanks for any suggestions. I did went to dermatologist and don't want to be taking antibiotics for the reas of my life..
Avatar n tn I have PCOS and have been on Yasmin BCP for like 6 years to control my PCOS symptoms. The reproductive endocrinologist told me Yasmin is the gold standard for PCOS patients because the drospirenone works best in mitigating the symptoms of high testosterone like acne and hair growth. Well my gyn nurse practitioner called and I guess there is new evidence out that Yasmin is causing causes more blood clots than other BCPs, and this is a risk that increases as you get older.
Avatar n tn m new to the community, see you posted last month. I was on Yasmin, I think its related to Yaz but not the same for about two years. I had some really odd symptoms with Yasmin and begged my dr to take me off of it, since then I was on Apri, which is just generic desogen.
Avatar f tn I’m 17 years old and I’m thinking about getting birth control pills. I actually want to get the 28 day Pill Pack, but where I live, they only sell “Yaz” and “Yasmin” ( 28 day pill pack)and I only heard bad things about those two pills, so my only option is to get the 21 day pill pack. If I start taking it, I have to take it everyday at the same time for 21 days and then have a 7 day break. What if I get my period during the 7 day break and it stops before the 7 day break finishes.
1313343 tn?1274833215 and its YASMIN im talken about YAZ and YASMIN are 2 different birth control pills!
473222 tn?1214439873 Please consider the long term effects of taking any birth control pill, not just yasmin or yaz. They primarily work by putting your ovaries to sleep. The pill shuts down your own natural production of hormones and replaces them with lab manufactured hormones. Yasmin caused me to develop B12 deficiency, extreme anxiety, food intolerances, low libido and many more problems. All along I just persevered with the pill because I thought it was just my body trying to adjust.
Avatar f tn NOOO dont listen to that lady tryingfor6years on the yasmin birth control im in the process of sueing yasmin to see if i can get any kind of money from it!! after i stoped taken yasmin my stomach issues have gone away! i was in the hospital with ivs in me and cat scans etc... dont get yasmin there are reports of it on the internet etc. that product is going to be no longer sold as a birth control product.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had any bad effects from using Yasmin birth control? I had my iud removed and the dr. put me on yasmin but before i start taking them i just wanted sme feedback... thank you...
Avatar f tn ve been on birth control pills for 6 years, trionetta, yasminelle and yasmin, and since i stopped taking them I feel a lot better, but I still want some sort of birth control, just not too much hormones, have anyone of you tried or know about copper iud and ms?
1927233 tn?1326670387 In my case, it strictly occurs when I take certain birth control pills (Yaz, Diane35) but not with others (Alesse). Also, it appears within 24 hours of taking the first pill, persisting until 24 hours after the last birthcontrol pill and disappears as soon as I am not taking the birth control pills. Obviously, it is a side effect of the hormones in certain birth control pills. Also, Fibrocystic disease is usually found in women over 30.
Avatar f tn Your symptoms sound very much like what I went through on Yaz. Both Yasmin and Yaz have a different kind of progestin than other bcps. I was on Yaz for six months, and started having anxiety attacks about once a month. Then after I quit I felt better for a while, but it seems like at 3 months off and six months off things would get worse for a period of time. Like Ginger said above, you may need to try to take extra care of yourself: taking vitamins, eating healthy, exercise and rest.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I am new to this forum. I was diagnosed with hypothyrioidism about 4 years ago. I started with Synthroid dosage of .025mcg and then had it raised to .05mcg about a year later. My TSH levels have always remained in the normal range. (0.5-3.0). About a year and half ago i started taking Yasmin Birth Control and since then my TSH levels have flucated tremendously and they can't seem to regulate my thyriod.... I'm either taking too much Synthroid or not enough.
Avatar n tn I am on Yazmin birth control pills and have been for over a year now, 3 months ago I switched to the 21 day pack and was fine the first two months. I was always regular as a teenager but now I'm almost 22 and am seeming to get more irregular. Back in February my time of the month was a week late. Since then it hasn't been late by that much but now I am 12 days late. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative.
Avatar n tn I have just been prescribed with YAZ the birth control pill. My period came, so i took the first tablet, but then it stopped within hours. My periods normally last for 7 days. I don't think im pregnant, is this normal?
Avatar n tn I am on Yaz, and have been for 4 months. I think it is the best birth control ever! My periods are 1 day a month. You know your own body, but personally i would wait a little longer...My PMS has decreased, lighter periods. The only down fall is that it has made me break out with acne, even though it is said that Yaz clears the skin. Its kind of a positive and negitive.
Avatar m tn I recently saw a commercial on TV about Yaz birth control causing some serious health problems. You should talk to your doctor asap just to make sure this birth control hasn't affected you negatively. I wish you the best of luck!
Avatar n tn I agree with stella5349 regarding the use of birth control pills. Birth control pills are powerful drugs. Do a web search using he terms "Yaz and lawsuits" - scary! Same for Fosamax and other so-called bone-building drugs Boniva, Actonel etc...once used for agricultural purposes and now in human bodies. Doctors will often say that side the effects you experience after starting a drug are not related to the drug. MIne did.
1447404 tn?1284604228 After the first 2 weeks were over, things went into place and I never had any issues again with it. Birth control can sometimes cause weight gain...but not every woman is the same. I never had weight gain with Yasmin. Sleepiness is not a side affect of metformin. And also, not every woman who has PCOS has diabetes. As far has the birth control, it did lighten my period and made it shorter as well. I never had breakthrough bleeding with it. My body reacts to medications very well...
