Yasmin weight gain

Common Questions and Answers about Yasmin weight gain

Avatar f tn I gain weight very easily usually and struggle to maintain it off, but Yasmin never caused any problems in this respect, I'd say on the contrary. Spironolactone which is used to treat hirsutism or hair loss is a diuretic, and therefore it will actually help you not to retain water (I have this problem). These are the most common approaches and none of these will lead to weight gain.
534649 tn?1213315454 I take Yasmin, haven't gained anything since starting it last year. It works well with me.
5121963 tn?1363905257 Hello! I had endometriosis, cysts, tumor and blood thickening on my right ovary and and it was removed during laparoscopy 8 years ago. I had smaller problems with my left ovary, so after the lap and in the next 5 years I was on YASMIN pills for stopping the endo from growing. After these 5 years I had a punctuation done, because one of the cysts became bigger and after that I was on ZOLADEX shots for six months (in a condition of menopause - awful side effects!!!).
704655 tn?1228685706 ll be able to see the fuzziness of the hair around your face. If the PCOS has made you gain weight already, a low carb diet can help you lose weight and control the other symptoms that come with PCOS. It's hard, but it helps. Good luck.
Avatar n tn got way longer on it- I used to only bleed for 4 days on Aleese, then gradually this increased and due to weight gain and water retention switched to Yasmin...well after a year on that I was bleeding for 8 to 9 days (still bleeding even while taking the 'active' pills) also I started getting cramps and what not and my dr kept saying that should not be happening since you only have a withdrawal bleed...
706214 tn?1244523049 You should see the doctor and ask him what kind of medication he can put you on that would help with the symptoms and weight gain. For me, what has worked in the past is a low carbohydrate diet and exercise. Having PCOS does make you gain weight, but at the same time, if you lose the weight (I know it's hard) it helps you start ovulating again and control the other symptoms.
869854 tn?1239978206 Mood swings, irritability, low sex drive, trouble sleeping, weight gain, confusion, hard to focus etc etc. I feel like I have all the syptoms of peri-menopause but my she claims there is no way to accurately check my hormones as they change daily and hourly. I feel hopeless so she mentioned that studies have shown the pill and also anxiety and depression meds can help the hormonal changes and regulate my moods and newly changing menstural cycle.
Avatar f tn Before this I was on the depo shot. But it was causing me to gain weight. So my doctor switched me. And so i dont know the side effects very well for this pill. But i did hear that this pill was supposed to "regulate" your period. Thats why Im asking(: Any answers are very much appreciated!

1019152 tn?1336074292 Just wondering if anybody has taken syeda for birth control, and if you experienced any unwanted side effects.Nausea, weight loss/gain?My daughter is now taking this, and wanted to know about any side effects that anybody has experienced .
Avatar f tn The only time I gained weight was when I was pregnant with my daughter six years ago, after which my weight stabilised to around 44kg. I started taking Yasmin as contraceptive after her birth. Two years ago, I started having fevers daily, always when I wake up in the morning and in the evening around 7pm. When I have fever, my temperature (I am keeping a log) ranges from 38.8°C to 39.4°C. I also have itchy bumps on my legs which would fester and not heal.
Avatar f tn I have had a weight problem all my life, and had gastric bypass in 2005 and lost over 130 pounds, so have not noticed weight as an issue for me, because I ahve other issues weight-wise and it would be hard to know if Yasmin was affecting my weight. I know when I have a period I can gain up to 10 pounds of water weight when that happens. My doc says there is no discernible reason for me to stop taking them way up until and into menopause.
Avatar f tn I just need suggestions for birth control pills that are good for people who are extremely sensitive to hormones. I've had the Mirena IUD, which didn't cause me to gain weight, but caused my skin to look awful and other issues. I know every person reacts differently to birth controls, but I'm really starting to feel like there is nothing out there for me. I just don't want to gain weight or get acne.
1447404 tn?1284604228 Birth control can sometimes cause weight gain...but not every woman is the same. I never had weight gain with Yasmin. Sleepiness is not a side affect of metformin. And also, not every woman who has PCOS has diabetes. As far has the birth control, it did lighten my period and made it shorter as well. I never had breakthrough bleeding with it. My body reacts to medications very well...I've never had any bad side affects from anything I took.
Avatar n tn Hun, Get a different doc, you know, they are just ppl, and, as ppl, some are *sses, and some are not, Please have them do thyroid check!! Thyroid problems will cause depression, weight gain (or loss) as well as HAIR LOSS, i had a circular patch oh top of my head, and doc decided to check my thyroid, now i on synthroid, and hair grew back, emotions under control..

Avatar n tn i took yasmin for nearly one year then stopped(my periods were regular while taking yasmin), got pregnant after 2months of stopping yasmin, but unfortunately it was ectopic and so i lost it. i would advice you to be careful once you stop yasmin. Also i was taking caltrate(vitaminD+calcium) tablets once a day.
Avatar n tn I too am on Yasmin, but never had any problems while taking them. I was told that Yasmin bc is the best choice given to those with acne problems and pcos. It's a mild dose of bc. Try to give yourself 3 months to regulate it in your body. Consult your doctor if you have serious side affects. Are you taking any other meds for your pcos? I'm also on Metformin for weight issues. I started my journey in September 2008 at 333lbs and I am now at 272lbs.
Avatar f tn As i always have spotting for 1 whole month. And i even gain weight, and double my size. After that injection,i took diane35 pills..But im encountering vomiting, headache and nausea.I had my period last Oct.26,Can someone give me an advise on what is the possible pills i should take, the one who have lesser side-effects?
Avatar m tn Then I got back on it a year later, and started having major signs of depression, weight gain, and just a change in my hormones. I use to be the bubbliest happiest person in the world before I started taking this pill. Now I find myself majorly depressed, and have been gaining weight. I am also, tired all the time. Before I started taking the pill, I use to have so much energy. I know that I am not the same person as I was before I started taking this pill.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am 29 years old and I have suspect that I have PCOS. I was overweight/obese as a child and teenager until my early 20s. Aged 21 I started getting excess facial/bodily hair and my weight increased to its highest (can't remember what but I was a UK size 18/US size 22). Then aged 22 my periods went from being 5 days long, 3 days heavy 2 light to lasting just 3 days, none particularly heavy.
682098 tn?1236908245 Anyway, she started me on Seasonique which is a bc and you get your period every 3 months. I was so nervous about starting it. It has made me gain weight, my boobs are a lot bigger, though I am not happy considering I have a poochy belly. I get very emotional and then very irritable. When I use to get my period I knew my body well, I was use to the pms. Now, I feel like I don't even know who I am sometimes.
