Xyzal or zyrtec

Common Questions and Answers about Xyzal or zyrtec

xyzal

Avatar n tn I checked my favorite drug site and they are the same. OTC Zyrtec is essentially the same medication. Some people say that Xyzal is a more 'purified" form of the chemical. You can try Zyrtec to see if it works as well. Take care.
Avatar n tn Minor side effects include constipation, diarrhea, fatigue, gas, heartburn, and headache. Major side effects include abdominal pain or cramps, blurred vision, dizziness, easy bruising or bleeding, itching, muscle pain or cramps, rash, and yellowing of the skin or eyes. ref:http://www.medicinenet.com/simvastatin/article.htm This could be an allergic reaction to the drug. It will stop if the drug is withdrawn. You need to inform your doctor about this development.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with hives since 2000. All i have to do is be in the sun and i break out. I have tried Zyrtec, Allegra, Singular and now i'm on Xyzal. The Xyzal i only tried one time and woke up the next morning feeling like i was drunk and hit by a train. It left a horrible taste in my mouth. I am so sick of these hives. I'm getting married in August and have a terrible farmers tan and i am asking for any advice on what to do.
Avatar n tn Nor is it a problem to quit them suddenly EXCEPT (apparently) with Xyzal and Zyrtec (both are Cetirizine-based). I, for one, will NOT be taking this medicine ever again. Xyzal worked super well for me while I was on it, but I do not like the idea of being physically dependent on something that is only marginally necessary.
Avatar m tn ve tried em all, Loratadine, Claritin, XYZal, Benedryl, Zyrtec, etc..... I see an allergist on the 28th, but was wondering if anyone has ever experienced tingling/shaking due to allergy/sneezing.
Avatar m tn She can get some steroid cream if the rashes last for a while (it makes them go away faster) and if she gets itchy, something like Xyzal, Zyrtec or Benadryl works well. The steroid cream and Xyzal are by prescripion...Zyrtec and Benadryl are OTC If she finds she's having a problem with most of the commerical soaps, making her own plant-based, oil soap might be a good option. If she wants more info about that, leave a note on my page and I'll be happy to tell her more. Lots of luck!

Developed chronic rhinitis in the process. I've also developed montly infections, non stop since Mar 2018. Was on antibiotics for 4 months straight, last year. This year Feb/March been on antibiotics Amox/Clav. Each time, I complete course of antibiotics, I begin sneezing up a storm !!

Avatar f tn for 7 months i was on 40 - 50 mg of ultralan DAILY (it seemed to work better than Prednisone), 2 atarax tablets, 3-4 Xyzal (or zyrtec) daily. if i even tried to lessen the dose then my lips, tongue, eyes and throat would swell. the hives lessened but never fully went away. my weight ballooned and i was in a constant stupor and NOT HAPPY. oh noooo. eventually i started bi-weekly sessions of acupuncture which really really helped and finally i was off the medication.
Avatar n tn I have also been having vertigo issues for the past nine months or so. Have tried several medications such as Zyrtec D, Flonase, Nasonex, Xyzal....also nasal rinses, and some vitamins and herbs...nothing works for long. Today the doc decided to start testing me for allergies to try to get to the root of the fluid and swelling in my ears. Your results sound interesting. I have in the past from time to time has what I think are fever blisters around the corners of my mouth.
454221 tn?1259445739 s and did a urine test again and that came out fine, but no sugar test. Should I be concerned that it could be diabetes or something much worse? The only other person in our family that I know has diabetes is his great uncle. No one that close just yet.
Avatar n tn I have had a problem with hives all over my body for a month or more now. My hands start to itch first, then the bottom of my feet, then my scalp even the inside of my mouth itches sometimes. I'm a hairdresser and suspect it could be the chemicals and shampoos and products. Or could this be a food allergy? I take a wonderful antihistamine called xyzal. It works really well but when it wears off I'm in trouble.
Avatar n tn It occurs when the sweat gland ducts get plugged due to dead skin cells or bacteria. The trapped sweat leads to irritation or prickling, itching and to a rash of very small blisters, usually in a localized area of the skin. Symptoms of miliaria include small red rashes, called papules, which may itch or more often cause an intense 'pins-and-needles' prickling sensation.
Avatar f tn Non-sedating antihistamines such as Cetirizine(zyrtec) or Loratadine(Claritin) may be needed to get symptom relief. Sedating antihistamines such as Chlorphenamine(benadryl) or Hydroxyzine are used at night to get urticaria control. Short courses of oral cortisone or steroids are taken for short periods (one to three days) to settle more severe symptoms. You may take Vitamin C along with the prescribed treatment. Vitamin C is a general anti-allergy supplement.
Avatar f tn Hi, Yes xyzal, clarinix and Zyrtec all are useful in treating allergic reactions like hives and provide immediate symptomatic relief and not letting them progress further. Cause for occurrence of hives is not found in many cases and is thought to be idiopathic, in such cases only measures for minimizing an attack are useful in tackling the situation as cause is not found. I would recommend to use Zyrtec which is available OTC for treating hives. Best.
Avatar f tn t remember the name, Zyrtec, Xyzal and Ranitidine. I have changed my shampoo to Neutrogena, stopped using hairspray and use Neutrogena lotion. Nothing is working. Do you have any ideas what this could be it is driving me crazy.
Avatar f tn ll tell you whether she wants you to take 10mg/day of Xyzal or do something else and whether you need to make an appointment ;)
Avatar m tn In the past I have taken Zyrtec, Claritin, and Xyzal....Zyrtec seems to work best for me. You can get both Zyrtec and Claritin over the counter, and both come in a generic form (I take the generic form of Zyrtec). This helped my allergies tremendously, I would recommend taking one daily while your symptoms are in full-force, and then backing off to just whenever it's needed when your symptoms settle down.
Avatar f tn I could not believe I found some one else with the exactly the same problem as me! the burning itching with hands & feet & then spreads all over, All from not taking Zyrtec(or the generic version Cetirizine Hydrochloride) after using it for over six months. I have a doctor & I will be just paying the $25 co-payment for him to tell me stop taking it. well duh! Its a catch 22 situation for me...
1528897 tn?1291833568 Hi, welcome to the forum, it typically suggests allergic rhinitis which is exaggerated or precipitated during cold season or timing. This condition is sometimes associated with asthma. The triggering factors like dust, fog, pollens etc. can cause the precipitation of these symptoms.
738462 tn?1232154170 Hi. I'm brand new to this site, so please excuse me if I seem like I don't know what I'm doing or how exactly this whole thing works in advance... But, I have had huge hives or welts, since August. I've seen specialists and been in hospitals and have had every test (as far as I know) run on me, with no real etched in stone answers..
Avatar n tn which progressively got worse. To the point it was waking me up and/or preventing me from falling asleep. By August I start getting some small red bumps in the places I am most itchy. Primarily thighs, waist, stomach, back, and arms. We start off treating for basic itchy symptoms, like mites, scabies, etc. Going a few rounds with those, we notice no difference and my spots are only getting worse. As it starts getting colder, and I wear longer shirts/jeans..
Avatar n tn What is better for allergies allegra or claritin? Whats stronger Loratadine or Fexofenadine?
Avatar f tn I have been allergy tested and take a shot a week because I was allergic to everything. I take xyzal, singular, and Concerta daily. None of these were started when fever appeared. I have recently developed a cough and a catch in my breathing when I try to speak. My vision is increasingly becoming more blurry, so bad that my son is complaining about it. TB skin test negative. Multiple UA's negative. ANY SUGGESTIONS?
Avatar f tn I finally figured it out its was only happening the nightd he would have the xyzal....The xyzal made the outside of his lobes and his ears feel like they were on fire!!!
Avatar n tn For the past year, I have been suffering from Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria. At first, the hives were quite sporadic, occurring once or twice a month, but since December 09, they've been occurring daily. They appear at different areas on my body (including my palms), but rarely on my face, and usually last 2-3 hours. I've been tested for allergies, both food and environmental, and the only positives were certain molds, trees, and grasses.
Avatar f tn I have seasonal allergies and was wondering the best OTC antihistamine would work better. Allegra, Zyrtec or loratadine. I was on 12.5 zoloft for 2 weeks and tapering up to 25 mg (split another 12.5 in half so 3/4 a pill then one whole 25 mg. I have to do this slowly as I am super sensitive to meds. Thanks for any help. Plus I eventually need to taper down my ativan when I level on the zoloft.
Avatar m tn I did not change my eating habits or my lifestyle and did not change any kind of soap or liquid using for bath or washing powder for my cloths! I don't believe that this coming from stress because when i am relaxed and when I wake up in the morning I still have itching! Today, I informed my dermatologist and he told me to double the Xyzal tablets, one tablet 5mg in the morning and one tablet 5mg at bed time.
