Xyzal and high blood pressure

Common Questions and Answers about Xyzal and high blood pressure

xyzal

I was prescribed xyzal in Aug, but I've been taking it on and off with allegra. I think xyzal and allegra have about the same effect on my hives. I've had chronic hives on and off since 1991. I've had allergy tests done but the tests were inconclusive since I was allergic to almost everything they gave me. I'm afraid to go back for the blood tests because they'll probably just tell me that it was inconclusive too.
For the past several months I have been dizzy, not to the point of falling, but when walking at times, kind of unstable. I also had vertigo when I first laid down but only when I turned my head to the right. Since I have hearing loss more in my left ear than the right, my ent sent me for a hearing evaluation where I was diagnosed with bpv. This has since stopped for over two weeks now. I also noticed my left pupil was slightly larger than my right at times.
What is odd, my breasts shrunk, (undergarments do not fit, too big), my abdomen sticks out as far as my breasts so my shirts do not look nice or fit nicely, and my now huge fat butt doesn't fit into my clothes. My blood pressure jumped up from normal, 100/60-120/68 to 150/94 - 136/84 and headaches. I can tell my blood pressure is off from the headaches and feeling odd - like I am hooked to an air or water pump.
The dizziness resembled being carsick, with lightheadedness and occasional moments of nausea and feeling faint (but I never passed out). I had a CAT scan and blood work twice, and so far no diagnosis for the dizziness/fatigue. It got better for a few weeks but last week I began to have dizzy spells again, this time accompanied by maxillary sinus pressure. I had just switched allergy medications, from Nasonex to generic Flonase, right at the time my symptoms returned.
and now I've been off of them for a week and getting back to feeling bad and the facial pain and pressure. Whatever this is has certainly changed my life (because I don't feel like I can function) and the others are saying the same thing. We've gone to our doctors and Ear, Nose, Throat specialists, I've had CT Scan, x-rays, blood work, been to a chiropractor, been given about the same meds. with no help. Something strange is going on this year....
I sometimes have slightly high blood pressure but that's just recently and it's not real high. Thanks in advance for your help.
It is 4 a.m. and I am desperately trying to figure out why I continue to break out in hives and have joint pain in my elbows, feet, hands and legs. I too started breaking out in hives after taking the antibotic Solodyn for acne. After a trip to the ER, it was assumed that I had an alergic reaction to the medicine. I stopped taking the medicine after only 3 weeks and needless to say, I am still breaking out in hives and have joint pain. I have been tested for allergies and that was negative.
I had a bout with high blood pressure, and it's normal again. I have had migraines where one pupil gets large and the other stays small and I've been tested for animal and outdoor allergies and was allergic to everything on the test. I am on: buspar, atenolol, lutera, xyzal, sumatriptan, dicylomine, naprosen, and wellbutrin.
MRI - first they thought they saw a narrowing in her cervical spine but with a second MRI said her skull sits high on her spine and all was normal. She used head and shoulders shampoo and her hair began to break off and fall out by the handfuls for months. When her hair grew back it came in thick and with a different texture. Last year her attacks became worse - she passed out every time she tried to run the track field in school.
Now I am constantly on antihistamines (Zyrtec D by day, xyzal by night). But I am soo tired of the meds. I am irritable sometimes and tired and fuzzy. I am trying to find an alternative. Besides the regular red bumpy hives I have been getting weird splotches in random spots on my hands and arms. Its bizarre and itchy. It makes no sense. They are in no real pattern. Its beyond baffling. I can't help but wonder if there isn't something else to this. I too am athletic but I am not a runner.
The swelling on my face ended up where I felt all the burning sensations, such as my cheek bone area , under eyes - outside sides of nose - and also where glasses would sit up high on the nasal bridge.-even my temple area. I don't know if you have any issues with your nose or not. I also have watery eyes even though I was diagnosed as having dry eyes. This all started at the same time. Autonomic dysregulation of glands I guess that is how the doctor described it.
For a few weeks now I have woken up with hives on my legs, arms, stomach, and so on. I've tried zyrtec and claritin and neither has really helped. Xyzal seems to work the best. The keep putting me on prednisone, because it is the only thing that will make the hives go away.....I am younger then most of you as I am in middle school......it is so frustrating because I am missing so much school.....any advice???
Still, she doesn't understand and it frightens her. She lives here in town. She has high blood pressure and she is getting so upset, and I feel horrible. I'm so upset about all the worry I'm causing her.
7 today), High Blood pressure (Lisinopril/Hctz--and yes this was looked at first as a probable cause), Hypothyroid (Synthroid) and apparent allergies with post-nasal drip (calmed by Sudafed over the counter--does not stop cough). Does your cough seem to peak and subside at times? Mine seems to be fairly quiet for a couple weeks.. still coughing but not as horrible and sometimes able to calm it without coughing. Then it gets worse and is as bad as ever.
I started getting hives (believe me they were awful, they would come and go but they were everyday without warning) about 7 years ago and was sent to an allergist who tested me for everything and the only thing that was positive was thyroid peroxidase antibodies, and they were very high. I have taken a prescription antihistamine for this for years (I also have seasonal allergies).
After 6 years of battling this, it is a relief not to have the hives everyday. I have high blood pressure and when the hives are present my blood pressure goes up. With Xolair I have a life again without all of the unsightly sores and rashes. I am now worried about what I am going to do once the trail is over. How do I go about getting in touch with the Genentech Foundation so I can continue on my medication?
I notice they happen most commonly when I move around a lot and my blood starts to circulate more, or I get more warmed up. I work and office job and sit in a chair all day, so I thought my back was just getting irritated from sweat and poor air circulation against my chair. I did not think at all that it might have been related to what my wife had. However, over the course of a few days, the itching has increased in frequency and intensity.
Some of you may have other things going on but this may just be your body responding in a normal physiologic way to an environmental stimulus(the skin is supposed to vasodilate in response to heat because it helps to keep your core body temperature from going too high by releasing heat through the skin . Just like when it is cold out and your vessels in the hands vasoconstrict to prevent heat loss from the core. This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
not being able to find a cause. I have had an allergy test and I have high allergy to dust mites. How can you totally free your home of dust mites! I have used Tea Tree oil in my washing machine for my towels, bed sheets and clothes. I have had a blood test, which was pointless. I'm not sure what else to do.. you forget what it was like to be itch-free! My hives started on my back.. extreme fiery red itch. But recently it hasn't been on my back at all..
Called the doc immediately and the nurse would not verify that steroids make the blood sugar go high. I told her I was going to blow up between high blood sugar if I kept taking the prescribed dose. My blood sugar stayed high until the next day when the doctor finally prescribe Medforin. When I took that the blood sugar went down but when I took the steroid it went up. So I decided to take them together and started redusing the steroids at my own rate. Just couldn't take them for 3 weeks.
So I decided to go see an allergist They said once again you have hives AHHHHH I was about to go out of my mind He said stay on the Aterax and Cimedadine and also add Clarinx and Singular yay two more meds to take. So I did . He did a bunch of blood work and said it all checked out great no autoimmune disorder or anything. Crazy thing is he said he cant do an allergy test when I am in a active break out and on meds. So I am in a Catch 22 situation.
The CVS Pharmacist said she should stay away from anything with a PRIL at the end (generic) She takes high blood pressure meds Lisinopril and the combination causes such a allergic reaction. Also, anything with SARTAN . Her Dr. prescribed Methprednisolone, a series of 21 pills over days. This is scary ! I almost took her to the hospital ER last night, but I think we nailed it ! Thanks, CVS !
my daughter has been diagnosed woth the condition and we are told its rare. she has had a barrage of blood tests which some had to be kept hot on the way to the lab for testing. She is on high antihistamines. tap, rainwater, bottled water, pool water, sea and river water all bring out a reaction. one eye swells if she cries so she looks like she has been hit, and when her eye watrs her skin under her eye feels like its burning.
Plain ole brown rice and friut and salad. Also exersice gets the blood moving and expells toxins. Iv been itchy for 3 weeks and have tried a lot of products, and its very frustrating not knowing the cause and no one seems to beleive the severety of it. Loss of sleep is the worst though because its when we sleep that our bodies heal, so try to keep that under control 1st. I like the natural stuff cause then at least your not loading up the body with more toxins and causing more problems!
Since the outbreak I have had itchy palms and occasionally itchy ankles and feet, but my only outbreak of DH is on my elbows. Celiac Sprue or an allergy to wheat can be very silent and difficult to diagnose without the proper blood tests or biopsy of the small intestine. I'm hoping that following a gluten free diet will resolve my DH and itchy hands and feet, not to mention my chronic anemia.
First I had the condition for about 3 months and have managed to miminize it to a point where it’s much less of a problem then it was when it started. Of course it could come back. 1. Facts – I’m 61 no high blood pressure, no diabetes, not overweight and never any serious sinus problems. 2. Clues: - I would get an attack at almost the same time every day. Mid afternoon at work and watching TV in the evening.
a couple months ago i went to a doctor about dizziness and painless sinus pressure and congestion (which i still have problems with, so that was pretty much a waste of time) he looked in my ears and noticed a blistery looking spot where the itch was coming from. he gave me antibiotic ear drops and they temporarily relieved the itch but now its back. i think that was his solution to get me out of his office though haha. you shouldve seen him squirm when i mentioned the dizziness.
This has become debilitating and I am becoming depressed. I have a high profile job and don't want to be seen because I look like I have some awful disease. Can anyone suggest a next step? Surely somebody knows what this is and how it can be treated.
and that after googling about my own ears, i ordered zymox. got it today and already feel the itch is 50% less. i have such high hopes for this because ive had excema in my ear for about 10years now...so yes will try anything.
