My son had been diagnosed with pneumonia 4 times in the past four months, as well as bronchiolitis in between. He has been treated with Rocephin, Azithromycin, and Amoxil. He has breathing treatments 4 times a day (pulmicort & xopenex) has had 2 episodes of cyanosis, and been hospitalized for low oxygen satuation, wheezing etc. His pediatrician tells me I shouldn't panic and that he has asthma. He is only 13 mos old!
The doctors have put my 4 year old on xopenex and pulmicort via nebulizer. they said that is the best one for him, he has a complicated history. You really need to seek a 2nd opinion, and that is just my opinion. from everything that my little guy has been through I always maek sure that I also have a copy of his medical reports that way there if you go for a second opinion, then you have all of that stuff and you can be prepared. to ask questions or whatever.
However, my son has been on other medications for sinisitis and bronchitis that could account for a headache. He now off of pulmicort, xopenex and nasonex. He is currently going through allergy testing as well. It is very difficult for me to try to determine the cause of the headache with so much going on with him. He is feeling completely better aside from this headache.
Dec09 I was diagnosed with prinzmetal angina. I am on a channel blocker called procardia and nitro. Also pulmicort and albuterol.The pollen has been so high and I discovered a mold problem in my house. I have been using my rescue inhaler more,and the spasms in my chest are more frequent. Is it related?

He said that he must have gotten some sort of virus and it triggered his asthma. He told me to continue his Singulair, Pulmicort Respules one time a day, Xopenex in the nebulizer every four hours, and he prescribed Prednisone two times per day (dr. said to start the steroid only if the cough does not slow down).
So on Wednesday morning, my son woke up at 6:30am coughing non-stop....coughing so much that he vomited!
My son's teacher just informed me that my son is having trouble completing his work. Not that he can't do it, but he is either talking or daydreaming. He is often easily distracted. She said this has been going on for about a month. Some days are better than others. He is at a new school, but has similar problems at his old school. They give him time do his work and he will either talk to other or just sit there. He does exhibit this behavior at home sometime while doing homework.
He takes Singulair daily and takes Pulmicort and Xopenex as needed via nebulizer when he starts to show signs of coughing. My husband and I went to his parent-teacher conference yesterday - for pre-school - and we were advised by his team (speech therapist, psychologist, etc.) that we should discuss his behavior with our pediatrician. The other item that kept coming up was his attention span. Most of his intellectual skills - cutting, drawing, writing, etc - were up to par.

today while he was at school he was very short of breath and not wheezing but could feel that junkie **** in his lungs, so they gave him a treatment, as they gave him his treatment his eyes rolled tothe back of his head and started to flutter, the person said this can happen during an asthma attack.
t for sure say it is the PFO or the other stuff going on in his body, I do know that the PFO can do that. He also takes asthma medications, Pulmicort and xopenex on a daily baisis.

Needless to say I've done some reading on varient cough asthma and it sounds like she fits the bill. To make a long story even longer, it seems she gets leg cramps right before a coughing episode, in fact, I can almost predict an attack by when she tells me her legs are cramping. Why is this?
Last winter she starting having symptoms again which was a usually a cough that led to respiratory infection. If we caught the cough early enough with her inhaler (xopenex) and allergy med (zyrtec) we could avoid the infections. We made it all summer with no problems or use of meds.
In August she started again with a cough so we started the Zyrtec and Xopenex again. Her Dr said if we had to use the inhaler more than 3 days/week to bring her in for an appointment.
The second attack caused him to be hospitalized during treatment because he was not responding well to 3 doses of albuterol via nebulizer and had low oxygen sat. (88%). Both of the epsiodes occured during a cold/virus. My Dr. is reccomending a once daily pulmicort treatment for prevention purposes. I am a little hesitant to be giving him this at such a young age and only a short time of displaying these symtoms.
also breaks it down, TOBI for my pseudomonas (if you culture pseudo, this might be a good drug for you, it is a nebulized form of tobramycin, I rotate 28 days on and 28 days off..it does a fairly good job at keeping my pseudo at bay) as well as pulmicort and Xopenex. Lots of nebs....I used to use mucomyst nebs but I found them to be too irritating and caused my airways to spasm even though I used Xopenex with the nebs.

m on Immune Globulin SC weekly infusions at home for life, tobrimycin nebulized 28 days on, followed by 28 days off for the pseudo, and perforomist, budesonide (pulmicort), xopenex prn nebulized,, plus 600mg. theophylline,
daily. I have had to partially retire from working at the hospital, and work only flex-when I'm well enough and they need me. Of course I wouldn't work on a Med. Surg. floor due to risk of infection (I've been a psych.

She told me (and put it on his asthma plan) to have him use the Pulmicort Flexhaler twice, two times a day and to try it for a month Since then, I've read online that the Flexhaler should be given to children who are 4 with extreme caution and I've read that 180 mcg is the typically recommended dose to start off with.
I have recently changed my preventor from flixotide to pulmicort as when I was on flixotide I was finding that I felt like I had to take deep breaths all the time. Once I swapped preventors it improved and has now been approximately 4 months and has come back. I feel like I have to yawn all the time to get a deep breath in. I have also had a croaky voice for nearly 2 months and can't figure out why. I work in child care and have not had any cold or flu symptoms.
Hi, fast heart rate is due to Xopenex. Initially, use of this drug is associated with this side effect but over a period of time, tolerance usually develops. In case if you have a pre exisiting heart disease, please avoid this drug.
Consult you treating doctor to lower the dose or frequency, other alternative is sustained release deriphylline tablets.
Either way though, with your reactions after exercise, it sounds like a fast acting broncho dilater (some form of albuterol - Proventil, Porair, Maxair, Xopenex, Ventolin) might be a good idea. These medications can be used as a pretreatment for exercise eliminating the reaction and allowing for a better workout.

I am 32 and have suffered from migraines for about 3 years. They started pretty much out of the blue, however, a lot of people in my family suffer from them.
I have tried nortriptaline, amitriptaline, verapamil, all without success. The first two didn't do anything for my migraines, and the verapamil made my blood pressure so low I couldn't function.
s been hospitalized a few times with bronchiolitis when he was 1 years old. The typical treatment has been 2ce a day pulmicort and 3xs a day to every 4 hours of albuterol. If that didn't work they would add predisone and sometimes zithromax. And those combos knocked it out.
Well he now has 3 weeks of a rattling cough that just doesn't go away. They said no wheeze and we've been doing the pulmicort and albuterol. Well it isnt' helping. So the ped feels we'll add Singulair.
