Xopenex and albuterol

Common Questions and Answers about Xopenex and albuterol

xopenex

Avatar n tn t supposed to make your heart race as much..I am on Xopenex after my doc switched me from albuterol due to my heart arrhythmias (albuterol made them much worse) and it has been much better for me as long as I dont take it more than 3 times a day. Also, Atrovent (Ipatropium bromide) can cause a rapid heart rate too. TAlk to your doc about your symptoms, there should be something he or she can do to help minimize your symptoms (even change them...
Avatar f tn Hi, Salbutamol is contrindicated in asthma. It is a long acting beta2 agonist that can be dangerous for asthmatics to take without an inhaled steroid. Also, they take too long to be effective which makes them useless as a resuce inhaler as you have been trying to use it. I would recommend that you request further testing from you doctor. The methylcoline (sp?) challenge is the standard and definitive test for asthma. You are give puffs a methylcoline to try to induce an asthma attack.
1315759 tn?1274044788 the last time i went to the hospital, the therapist gave me atrovent and xopenex, with 4 doses in one. i told them it was making me too jittery, way more than normal and nobody listened. instead of getting better, it was staying the same and making me feel out of control. how can i get my doctor to prescribe me a pulse ox for at home? i am on medicad and medicare and i am sure that if he prescribed it to me, that they would let me have one.
212161 tn?1599427282 Xopenex is similar to Albuterol and may cause palpitations and arrhythmias. Flovent and Asmanex are steroid inhalers, both of which are used for asthma.
Avatar f tn Then the albuterol makes it even worse and lands me in ER often for both hypoxia with out the albuterol and with even more increased angina and unable to stop angina with sublingual spray after taking albuterol. Several times Physicians have called ambulance from their office after administering albuterol and setting to off of because severe hypoxia sets off the angina. Also my Xopenex can kick of angina as well but I can normally get that stopped with nitro.
1987536 tn?1337916244 He actually switched me from advair to symbicort, and from albuterol to xopenex. 24 weeks now and my little girl is doing just fine. They do need us to give them oxygen, so take your meds if you need to.
Avatar n tn I was able to quit using Advair and only use my rescue inhaler from time to time. (When someone decides to wear certain perfumes or colognes). I am taking grape seed extract which contains OPCs which are very good for controlling asthma. Just thought somebody would like to know...

Avatar f tn I wrote in to this website when my son was 4 years old and started with transient motor tics, right after having two back-to-back illnesses (with a high temperature) and also after being treated with albuterol for severe asthma. His tics have not been as bad as they were the first time he started having them, but are still present at times. He is also growing out of asthma.
212161 tn?1599427282 i have the xopenex hfa 45mcg one and she just gave me the flovent 110 i have not got filled so looks like i can use either right. tanks again you dont know how releif i feel.
1754037 tn?1327886811 t been tested on pregnant women and she wanted to be safe. My OB said that is safe to use both the albuterol and my flovent, especially because it causes more damage when you deprive the baby of oxygen. If I were you I would talk to your OB if your asthma gets worse or the albuterol isn't working well enough. My OB also told me that albuterol doesn't harm the baby all it does is help me breath. Sorry this was so long. I hope this helps you. How far along are you?
454286 tn?1205883067 Saw pulmonologist and gave him Flow Vent and Albuterol inhalers , along with Decadron when the flare ups occurred and Croup. Saw another new doctor because son was not getting better. Same peds office new doctor but was really ill...lots of phlegm etc, she gave him a Zpak + nebulizer with Albuterol solution. We did that nothing changed. Sent him for second xray, which showed atalectasis and pneumonia altho the report didnt say any pneumonia, just atalectasis.
Avatar n tn t become short of breath or wheeze, she does respond to asthma medications like pulmicort and xopenex (she had paradoxical bronchospasm to albuterol--very scary!) Needless to say I've done some reading on varient cough asthma and it sounds like she fits the bill. To make a long story even longer, it seems she gets leg cramps right before a coughing episode, in fact, I can almost predict an attack by when she tells me her legs are cramping. Why is this?
Avatar n tn I've had asthma since I was 10 yrs old, I'm now 27. I've played soccer since I was a kid and never had any serious issues. About 2 yrs ago I had a real bad cold/sinus infection and ended up in the ER because of my asthma. Ever since then, I have not been able to get my asthma under control. I've been prescribed almost everything you can think of, steroids, albuterol, xopenex (inhaler and inhalation solution), budesonide, mucinex and that's just for my asthma.
Avatar n tn All these albuterol type inhalers make her jittery and quite anxious for about 45mins after she uses them .. nebulizers, too. Sometimes a change in brand of the asthma meds helps ... some have issues with the preservatives and Xopenex works better thru the inhaler which as I understand is in a more pure form . Have they considered Singulair? Just wanted to add my comment on the asthma. I am certain Dr.Lupo will have much to add .. great question.
Avatar n tn I take it you are talking about the xopenex ampules and not the xopenex spray? If its the spray then there might be something that can be given to him that is not as strong. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn When you get your neb machine, make sure that you do your nebs before you vest so that your airways are as open as possible. I tend to do my Xopenex and pulmozyme/HTS before vesting and then do my session. I vest twice a day at a minimum, when sick, I go up to four a day if tolerated. That is curious about your ears and bronc, I bet it was the plane ride that did it though. The last time I flew, I could not hear for a few days and felt stuffy.
Avatar n tn Do you also have a rescue medication? Some for of albuterol - ProAir, Proventil, Maxair, Ventolin, Xopenex and a few others. This is a necessity for when you have the shortness of breath (sob) feeling. Did the hospital tell you what to do about your potassium level? If you do not get that up, you could start having leg cramps. Advair and Symbicort can cause potassium and calcium levels to drop causing cramps. Take care and feel better.
205269 tn?1395534274 has tried just about every allergy medication possible like nasonex, patanase, singulair, xopenex, pulmicort, and albuterol. All of these had very little effect on him. A few days ago he had a serial dilution titration test and it showed to be positive for a number of things like: alternaria, aspergillus, cephalosporium, helminthosporum, cockroach, mite DF, mite DP, and the one thing that stuck out to me because, I don't really know what it is is candida. We are supposed to see the dr.
Avatar m tn Apparently you have asthma or some breathing problems already since you are taking Xopenex and Symbicort. Xopenex is similar to regular albuterol which is a fast acting inhaler for asthma (something I use). It will increase your heart rate for awhile after you use it. For me, that means about 10-15 minutes. I also get shaky, jittery hands. But it eases off. The Symbicort is used when asthma is not well controlled yet.
Avatar f tn I found that switching from atrovent to xopenex helped a lot. I know longer feel like my heart is beating 200 bpm and feel much less shakier.
Avatar n tn I have an appt with a pulmonary dr. in three weeks, but would love input from people who have been through something similar. I was diagnosed with asthma a few years ago. I've been on one puff of Asmanex and albuterol (now Xopenex) as needed, but rarely needed rescue inhalers. I've only seen my general dr. for my asthma and he isn't very informative. The last couple of months my "asthma" has felt worse...
