Avatar f tn 7mm and 13mm. He took chemo: Folfox, Avastin, Oxaliplatin, and Xeloda until April 2008. The April CT scan revealed that the tumors had grown slightly and that there were four more small nodules visable. He discontinued Chemo and chose alternataive therapy with High Dose Vitamin C, and B17, changed his diet, and had some blood boosters. In August a new CT showed the good news that no new tumors were visable, but that the primary tumors were slightly larger.

484033 tn?1208516117 I will be recieving oxaliplatin and I have read that it always causes some toe and finger numbness. Does anyone know if this can affect the use of the computer keyboard? I am also an artist and piano player. Will holding a small paintbrush or playing the keys be a problem?
Avatar m tn Consider progressive metastaic disease Oncologist suggested to start her on gemzar + avastin + oxaliplatin Just wanted to know your thoughts on this or other alternative regimens you have used with success
Avatar m tn Thank you for your response. We did meet with her oncologist again and he has decided to continue her on GEMOX-B. He said he would dose reduce GEMOX 20 % and she will get Gemzar at 800 mg(D1 and D8), Oxaliplatin at 100 mg(D1) and Avastin at 400 MG(D1 & D15) along with pegfilgrastim.
Avatar m tn They are talking about using chemo drugs that are normally used for bowel and other GI cancers (5-FU and Oxaliplatin) as a second line therapy. I remember that Marie3B went on to something similar.(FOLFOX?) Does anyone have an opinion on this? Any experience? Marie3B? Clearly my wife has no response to standard drugs so I am not suprised that they are looking in other directions. Mucinous tumors seem to lack response against standard drugs so we are quite prepared to take our chances.
107366 tn?1305680375 We are all so different that our tolerance of these drugs really differs. Avastin has been a breeze for me, but Oxaliplatin was one I thought was going to kill me after my 2nd treatment the last time I was put on it. I have met others that got through Oxaliplatin just fine. The disease is such a horrible monster and sadly our treatment options are also horrible. We need more funding to research safer drugs.
540822 tn?1313086322 The problem is that there have been insurance issues with using Avastin for treatment. Apparently, Avastin is FDA approved for colon cancer and insurance will cover it. If used for ovarian, breast or other cancers then it is not FDA approved and insurance SOMETIMES will not cover it. This treatment is approx. $17,000.00 per round.
Avatar n tn My onco tried me on taxol, and avastin, then xeloda. Neither of these worked. He suggests that I try Jemzar. I have stage IV mestatic breast cancer that has spread to my spine. I was dx in Feb 2002. I have previously been on different chemo.surgery, hormonal.. arimidex, aromosin, fasoldex . and several radiation treatments. I am undecided on doing any more chemo. My cancer , of course , is er/pr positive. Is there any advice on this chemo. or is there another hormonal I could try.
408448 tn?1286883821 I have posted before while I was on the Avastin Folfox chemo. I have mucinous cystadenocarcinoma found at stage 3B/C in June of 2007. Primary site was originally diagnosed as ovarian, but was questioned as possible GI origin by University of Chicago. Recurrence was treated with the Avastin/Folfox but had tumor growth after 6 cycles. Tumor was successfully removed sugically from near the portal vein. During the surgery samples were taken. I have a nest of neoplastic cells by the pyloris.
Avatar f tn I have an ovarian cancer (carcinoma, cerous), operated in November 2004, had 4 courses before and 3 after an operation of topotekan/oxaliplatin, in 7 month recurrence, treated by 11 courses carboplatin/taxol, 1 course of CAP, in 8 month recurrence - now undergo 7th course of doxil. CT shows reduction of the main tumor by about half, metastasis in liver (reduced a little), lungs, limfoid node in groin enlarged. What is the best way forward for me? Would be grateful for advise.
564735 tn?1263943526 It is in a combo like folfox called folfiri. It replaces the oxaliplatin. You had such a good response before it does seem your cancer is responsive. Mine was responsive in one lesion, but not on the tumor. One tumor grew while the other area resolved. Odd, huh? I wish you the best in whatever choice you make.
Avatar f tn My wife is resistant to Taxol and is now taking Oxaliplatin (along with 5-FU and Avastin) and it is working for her. My wife has Mucinous type and these are very similar to bowel cancers. This combination of drugs is used mainly for bowel patients. Oxaliplatin is a platinum based drug, but her oncologist explained that in combination with 5-FU it works in a slightly different way so some people who are Taxol resistant can use it successfully.
Avatar f tn It is with avastin and has 3 arms, so I had 2 chances to get avastin and will never know whether or not I did. I am now in the monitoring stage and get CT scans every 3 months for 2 years (I have one more year). For the 2 year monitoring, there's, of course no possible individual benefit for me. Although I do not like scans and am concerned about the radiation, I am planning to stick with the trial.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed oral Xeloda together with infusions of oxiliplatin, but had to discontinue the Xeloda. My body smply could not tolerate the drug and while taking Xeloda I lost more than one pound per day, snd had relentless nausea and terrible pain in my hands and feet. After one three-week cycle my doctor discontinued the Xeloda. I was able to complete treatment with the oxiliplatin. This was in 2004 and I am cancer free today. Ask your mother's doctor for something else.
564735 tn?1263943526 My doctors are not going to typical route with taxil/carbo...MD Anderson suggested a different regime of Oxaliplatin,Avastin,5-fu and Leuvocin ( sp?). will pass any new info and good news.
Avatar f tn are the lesion smaller than 1 cm? Mine are less than 1 cm. I am currently undergoing 5-fu/oxaliplatin/avastin/leucorvin chemo regime every 2 weeks for 3 months. My gyn. oncologists consulted with GI oncology specialists and they decided on this chemo regime. Some insurance companies won't approve avastin because it is very expensive but mine did. my prognosis is really good from my doctors. I also had an upper GI and a colonoscopy to confirm that there was no other cancer anywhere else.
Avatar f tn will xeloda given alone treat both tumours in chest wall with mestases in liver.
484033 tn?1208516117 Capecitabine, Fluorouracil, and Oxaliplatin. All three drugs, whether used singly or as part of a combination regimen, are relatively well tolerated and have "milder" adverse effects when compared to other chemotherapy drugs.
408448 tn?1286883821 Anyone ever use Xeloda pills? It is for colon cancer, but has been used in ovarian too. More for mucinous type. My cancer got pretty active on last treatment.
