xeloda

408448 tn?1286883821 The drug should act on the tumor in the same way that 5-FU does as it is basically converted into 5-FU inside the tumor. This should mean fewer GI side effects and less bone marrow supression as you don't have 5-FU in the rest of your body... Good luck with it.
Avatar f tn 5KGS AT 5FT HEIGHT, WE ARE TREATING THE METS WHICH HAS GONE TO HER LUNGS AND BONES AND LIVER WITH XELODA 1GRAM TWICE A DAY FOR 14 DAYS, AND THEY SCARED US WITH THE SIDE EFFECTS,BUT WE ARE ALSO GIVING HER HOMEOPATHY. Avatar f tn To determine if the increase in liver enzymes is due to side effects from Oncolet or from the recurrence of cancer metastases in the liver, an imaging procedure such as a CT scan or a liver ultrasound needs to be done first. If no metastatic nodules are seen on CT or ultrasound, then the possibility that the increase in liver enzymes is due to new lesions in the liver is already ruled out. the next thing to do is to temporarily withhold the daily intake of Oncolet.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately the long term ocular side effects are still unkown for this drug. So for now the drug does have FDA approval for appropriate use. I wish I could answer your question - but I don't think anyone knows. Michael J.

Avatar n tn Your oncologist will prescribe drugs to alleviate the side effects of chemotherapy like nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea etc. Certain side effects like hair loss and mucositis are temporary and will reverse after the chemotherapy course is over. Other side effects like neuropathy, hearing loss etc are less common and dose dependant ie they depend on the total dose of the drug given.

Avatar f tn I've been on Levaquin twice. Ugh!!! I have severe joint pain and fatigue both times. I have a really high pain tolerance and was allergic to my other options at the time, so I toughed out the 10 days both times. I don't recommend that and my doctor has promised to figure out an alternative for future infections. The first time, the serious fatigue and joint pain lasted about 3 weeks total (including the 10 days). The second time it was about 5 weeks.

Avatar n tn The symptoms of ocular migraines vary from person to person, and may include seeing zigzagging lines or patterns, especially at the outer edges of your vision, seeing shimmering or colored lights, loss of vision in one spot or off to one side. With typical migraines, but uncommonly with ocular migraines, you can have severe pain following these symptoms. You may also have nausea or vomiting. Ocular migraines usually require no treatment, other than rest until the symptoms pass.
Avatar f tn Dr. O - if I could find anything definitive, I would not have asked. I was interested in your opinion as a physician. Is there a glaucoma specialist on this board that you could forward this to, perhaps? Thank you very much again for your time.
Avatar n tn Is it normal to experience dull, lingering eye pain that lasts months following an ocular migraine? Can these headaches and lingering effects also make it seems like vision from the effected eye is not quite as good as it was before? If you've heard of this happening, can you suggest a way to remedy the long-term problems?

Avatar f tn I cannot take infusion chemotheraphy for this as my side effects were so extreme the first time that Xeloda seems to be my only choice. However, I mostly would like to know what sort of bandages I could use if it breaks through and what can be done to diminish the rancid odor.
