We didn't know sex till 21 weeks so we bought unisex animals theme but my fiance has his first stuffed animal which is an Elmo and he's giving it to her.
I'm raising three right now. I have probably raised 3 dozen over the years. If you have a fuzzy stuffed animal to put with it, that might help. They really do need something like that to help them feel secure. I have only raised one that ever cried very much, but she eventually got over it and is a very loving cat now. I didn't have a stuffed animal with her, but I do always keep one with them now and I think it helps them a lot.

I am concerned because my 6 year old child sleeps with her stuffed animal in her pants. She has done this on and off since she was 4. We have talked about inappropriate touching and what that is and that no one should touch her on her vulva or buttocks unless it is her mother or father (helping her wipe or bathe) or her doctor. I am concerned that she has had some sort of incident, but my husband just thinks she wants the stuffed animals close to her at night time.
My son use to have horrible night terrors between the age of 2-3. Some doctors say it is from an overactive mind. Which is great when their in art class but not at night night time. What use to work for me is PLENTY of night lights, very special blankets and stuffed animals. Also, every time it would happen I would make sure to do the EXACT same thing I had done the last time, same words, same tone, same way of holding him. I would talk in a low, calm voice very slowly.
My 11 year old son still plays with, talks to, dresses up his stuffed toys. He takes them everywhere he goes, including school. His father buys him and his sister a new Webkins or Build A Bear every week or two. I've tried to talk to his dad, but he refuses to stop, and doesn't see anything wrong with it.
I'm worried that he's going to be made fun of. It just seems abnormal that he's still doing this at his age.

Some hospitals offer a sibling class. They talk about how exciting and special it is to be a big brother, what to expect from a new baby and so on.
You could also get him something that emphasizes that he's the big brother now, a toy he'd associate with being a "big kid". A stuffed animal would also be nice and if your family doesn't adhere to gender stereotypes, maybe a baby doll that shares some ofhis features.
My daughter (almost 4 years old) has a stuffed animal that she constantly picks the "fur" off of it. The picking is usually fast and repetitive, whenever she is holding her stuffed toy. She will pick at the toy even if she seems relaxed, but when she is stressed or upset, her behavior intensifies.

Little pups get really LONELY at times. I always gave mine a medium size stuffed animal to cuddle up with and it worked like a charm and the howling stopped. (It makes them feel secure and safe, the fur I Guess reminds them of momma. All babies need their mommas and since the mom abandoned her, she really didn't get that security feeling that only momma dog or stand in mom can provide.
