I suspect it is too harsh as complaints about increased wrinkles from retin A are just a google away. It sounds like it's just too drying. The last thing you want is to be pulling at your eyes because they feel tight and itchy. Maybe try something with vitamin C. That seems to soften fine lines well, but do not get it in your eyes because it has enough acid to cause a burning sensation.
Angebelle, thanks for your reply. That is good news about the Retin-A. I am going to a dermatologist in a few weeks, and and am going to ask for it. I always thought it was only for acne, so wish I knew sooner! I appreciate your descriptions about your Mom's skin. In the meantime, I will use my Vichy, which is highly rated, but as you say, is not prescription strength..

I've been reading alot of websites, doctors advice, books on dermatology about how Retin A can improve not only your acne but your overall skin. By erasing fine lines ("only cream to have been proven to erase wrinkles") -which is B.S. to say the least, gets rid of acne, builds collagen, youthful looking face!
Sounds like a deal. A general doctor just wrote me the prescription in 5 minutes and a day later I got a $150 dollar Tretinoin cream 0.1%.
The newest treatment for age spots is an alpha hydroxy acid gel or beta hydroxy acid gel. Retin-A cream, alpha hydroxyacid peels, and liquid nitrogen therapy are other options.

I am very worried that I may have accidentally harmed my baby without realizing it. I have used retin A for years for acne and wrinkles all over my face, and on my back and chest. I have used .1%. I found out at about 3 weeks pregnant that it can cause birth defects. I have stopped using it of course, but I am so scared. Studies on the internet say many different things. I welcome any thoughts for my situation.

t done much for me either. But have you tried low percentage retin-a cream? This may be a solution for you. Applied at night, the thin layer of cream can do wonders in a matter of weeks, and over several months, there's a big improvement. I've used it as an acne treatment, and my 50+ age mother uses it for acne, wrinkles, and overall skin appearance. She looks fabulous for her age!
I have tried Olay regenerist, ROC and Garnier Nutritionist and currently seen ad for Hydroxatone that contains matrixly 3000, argireline and hyaluronic acid and is there anything you can recommend I use that can help minimize the wrinkles while adding collagen and elasticity to my skin. I am tired of products that offer a lot but delivers nothing. I want a product I can stick to. SO PLEASE what would you recommend I buy and how should I use it.
Over one year my skin has become a bag of wrinkles - my facem my arms my legs - basically all over. THis is very depressing as I seem to be withering much faster than all my contemporaries. It is not advisable to use retin A without a doctor’s guidance. For the skin thinning caused by steroid use, there is no topical treatment as such. However you can use topical vitamin C and vitamin E cream under a dermatologist’s supervision. Vitamin C promotes collagen production and in effect your skin will become thicker with regular use. Vitamin C is present in a wide array of lotions, creams and serums.

Hi, I have used salicylic acid face wash heavily along with Benzoyl Peroxide, my skin type is really sensitive. My under eyes have gonna really red and burt and left me with deep wrinkles when smiling, one of the eyes have completely recovered as it didn't have much deep wrinkles, although the other eye looks really wrinkly and the wrinkles look deep, I am only 21 and my skin was like baby's skin, didn't have any wrinkles before the bp use.
It has taken on a wrinkly scaly effect when flaccid but they wrinkles are not rough. I have seen my local doctor about this who said it looked like balanits and gave me cream which has not helped. I recently was std tested and everything came back negative except for herpes simplex 1. My girlfriend has periodtidal dermotitus (I think that's how it's spelled) and I think that may be the cause? All the wrinkles go away when erect so what could this be? Help!!

Cleanse the area thoroughly and apply a good mild exfoliating scrub on that. Apply a medicated cream or gel containing resorcinol, salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. This helps is soaking the oil and helps in peeling away the blackheads. If benzoyl peroxide leaves your skin dry, apply an oil-free moisturizer after 10 mins of applying benzoyl peroxide.
If the symptoms still persist then please consult a dermatologist and get cysts ruled out.
t discussed my concerns with a doctor, but I do have a hunch as to what the problem may have been. I was prescribed 0.05% retin-a for post-acne marks. I used it on various spots of my face. However, on my cheeks (around my nose), I noticed small holes that had never been there before. They looked almost like small incision holes...i soon realized that these were pores. I was pretty upset, because before using retin-a, my pores were pretty much invisible. Not small, but invisible.
I Have a home microdermabrasion kit from neutrogena that uses a sponge dipped into a sandy cream which I bought to save money on spa visits. I find a few scattered milia on my chin, forehead and hairline, which I pick out with a needle. They pull right out with no mashing or discomfort. I wash my face twice a day with dove soap and a washcloth and use lotion with15SPF on my face each day. I use a bit of eucerin on my lips and eyelids, and have tried it on my nose creases.
My esthetician said this was caused by the dehydration. So I went to a different dermatologist whose solution was to stop using retin A for a while and use Oil of Olay on my skin. I was quite upset that I waited 2 1/2 months to be given the same advice my mother would have given me. My esthetician told me it would take 12-18 weeks to rebuild the lipids I'd destroyed and that my skin would look worse before looking better.
