Common Questions and Answers about Workplace stress scale

stress

Avatar f tn s face it, stress is in the workplace in our schools in our private lives and in our world. It is state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances. However, stress and the effects of stress is a subject that has not been thoroughly studied. Even so, prescription drugs are readily available for illnesses that are the product of a stressful environment.

Avatar f tn I just found out that I lost my work today because I cannot stay well in a workplace that has clorox, paint, polyurethane, bacteria, with NO return air. I am in a very specialized field--I teach newly arrived refugees from Burma, Africa, etc. tospeak English. It may be too late, but is there any kind of mask I could get and still teach--I guess, however, that it would have to cover nose, mouth and eyes--maybe I coul wear it half the time. I need/love the work.
Avatar n tn It definitely sounds as though you were in a hostile work environment that caused you a great deal of stress and eventually caused you to have to seek a new position. The fact that your immediate supervisor was involved rather than trying to help you is also deplorable...and wrong. However, the burden of proof in a legal situation is on you. If the new job caused you to take a pay cut, then you certainly could seek damages for the loss of income, not to mention rank.
Avatar n tn m not much help regarding the buzzing in the ears. It could be related to high stress or anxiety, or uncontrolled blood pressure, sinusitis, ear disease like menier's disease, or medication side effects. Make sure your hearing is tested and of course see your primary care doctor to have a whole body physical exam and see an opthalmologist becauese of the eyestrain. I wonder if you might have some problems with your workplace - such as enviromental issues.
Avatar n tn Can stress cause you to have body aches and sometime memory loss also loss of appetite?
506514 tn?1210785523 Hi PeacelsAlllWant, how are you? Can you give some details of the nature of job you are doing? Usually the stress and strain to the body does cause a bit of muscle soreness at the end of a hard day out. The events at the workplace if bothering might also make you mentally stressed. When you are not working probably you might be following a set sleep cycle, which might make you sleep better. It is better to keep yourself physically active whether at work or not and follow a healthy sleep habits.
975514 tn?1324997938 I wanted to start a thread for those of us who have CFS and or FMS and are dealing with stress in the workplace. For those of us who are still working, the economy in the US and perhaps in the UK too has been extremely tense over the last couple of years. This has compounded the pressures I think we usually feel at work dealing with our illness and managing our careers. How do you all do it? I find myself struggling to keep a healthy balance.
Avatar f tn Anyone else weigh themselves at home and get a completely different number when you step on the scale at the doctors office.. Ahh it bothers me. Past pregnancys I have gained 40lbs and I'm trying to control how much I gain this time around. pre pregnancy I was 150 (according to MY scale). I weigh myself on a daily basis and have been at 152 for awhile (ill be 15 weeks tomorrow). Well I went to the doctors and stepped on their digital scale and got 158.
Avatar n tn ) just dont stress yourself out mama!
Avatar n tn 125mcg to 150mcg is a fairly large jump, and should be enough to bring your hormones back into line. It should take about six weeks. With Unithroid, there is no dose between 125mcg and 150mcg, so if you find 150mcg is too much, you may have to get creative. For example, a scrip for 50mcg and a scrip for 88mcg taken together would give you 138mcg per day. Just a thought if the 150mcg turns out to be a little much. You need to get your TSH down to between 1.0 and 2.
Avatar f tn I am a asian living in central Europe. I got sick a bit often lately, so my doctor decided to give me a full blood test. In general, she said the results look ok. Only that my S-aTPO is high and she sent me for an ultrasound, the result of which shows nothing of immediate concerns. Though the doctor ask me to come back for a follow-up checkup in 6 months. I feel cold easily, especially my feet and hands are just like ice packs most of the time. I guess I have a bit low blood pressure.
Avatar f tn The average calibration pulse is used to determine a correction scale factor for each channel which is used to scale the actual channel ECG waveform data....I believe this is what you are referring to when you state focus and that is adjusting the intra-channel skew. It is beyond the poster's question so there is no need to go into high and low filters for passage of a signal.
Avatar f tn Hey there! So, I'm supposed to get my period six days from now and when I stepped on the scale today, I realized I gained about 2 pounds I think? (I hate our scale! It's in kilograms, not pounds!) So usually, I'm 72.1 or 72.3 but when I stepped on the scale, I was 73.4! Also, my waist got bigger by I don't really know how much. So my question is, IS THIS NORMAL???? Thanks!
Avatar f tn I know exactly how you feel and I react exactly the same to work stress. My only answer for myself is that I've decided to quit my job and look for something less high profile. I think we have to be aware of our 'stress vulnerability' with Bipolar, it really is a very big trigger, possibly the biggest trigger of all to mood episodes. As ILAD says I think we have to learn what coping skills work for each of us. Work stress drove me to drinking badly, and made my BP even worse.
Avatar m tn I feel I am on a huge dose for my sliding scale, which still barely seems to keep up. I am on Lantus 40 units, twice a day. Humalog sliding scale, starting at 20 units. For every 50 mg/dl over 150, 2 more units. In a typical day, Between 20-28 units multiple times a day. A1c=7.7 currently. Is Humalog maybe not the right choice if I need such high dosing?
