stress

Avatar f tn s face it, stress is in the workplace in our schools in our private lives and in our world. It is state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances. However, stress and the effects of stress is a subject that has not been thoroughly studied. Even so, prescription drugs are readily available for illnesses that are the product of a stressful environment.
975514 tn?1324997938 I wanted to start a thread for those of us who have CFS and or FMS and are dealing with stress in the workplace. For those of us who are still working, the economy in the US and perhaps in the UK too has been extremely tense over the last couple of years. This has compounded the pressures I think we usually feel at work dealing with our illness and managing our careers. How do you all do it? I find myself struggling to keep a healthy balance.
1945565 tn?1330465775 I recently lost a job due to what I thought was a complication with one of my meds. They caused me to be cloudy during the intro sessions which made it difficult to learn everything necessary for the position. My pdoc asked if I'd mentioned my medications to my workplace before I got fired, my answer was no. This has had me wondering, though. Should I be claiming disability/that I am bipolar II from the beginning to possibly avoid this kind of problem in the future?
398920 tn?1218779347 Obstructive sleep apnea could be a reason for you to wake up number of times at night, many times you may not even be aware of it ending up having excessive daytime sleep because of fatigue, feeling unrefreshed, daytime sleep attacks at your workplace. Added to this, stress can be a trigger. Modafinil can be used for the treatment of narcolepsy. Please go through this link for more info http://www.emedicine.com/neuro/topic522.
Avatar n tn m not much help regarding the buzzing in the ears. It could be related to high stress or anxiety, or uncontrolled blood pressure, sinusitis, ear disease like menier's disease, or medication side effects. Make sure your hearing is tested and of course see your primary care doctor to have a whole body physical exam and see an opthalmologist becauese of the eyestrain. I wonder if you might have some problems with your workplace - such as enviromental issues.
Avatar n tn Upto last November when there was a department change at work I managed to work full time with workplace adaptations. The new role i was allocated brought bullying and removal of the workplace adaptations and three collapse and consequent relapses. Since then over the current year I have become much more ill and been diagnosed with postural hypertension (low rather than high blood pressure issues) I have also had a colloid cyst appear on my thyroid gland the size of a chicken egg.
Avatar m tn Do you think my symptoms are other sex related infections or other health related infections? Sometimes looking at ARS symptoms freaks me out. I had a blood test done I think serology I hope it was a false positive. I have never had vaginal intercourse with any girl so far but been to massage joints a few times. I learnt a Lessing purely from this tension and fear now and never again to any of these activities. I hope I dont have any infections.

4152590 tn?1350772856 t know how to reduce stress either, because life just simply is stress. I agree with Alex, finding a counsellor who spealizes in chronic illness is very helpful. And some sort of meditation, yoga, or something along those lines help too. Stress can always aggravate sx's and pain, so it is important to find ways to help relax you. I do massage therapy and acupuncture, and see a counsellor.

382218 tn?1341181487 This is an article published in the NY Times yesterday. It addresses a dialogue initiated on this board last week by MCBCON, regarding the decision to disclose one's illness in the workplace. The article is interesting, as are the Reader Comments. Lots of different perspectives on this, most leaning towards limited/no disclosure unless absolutely necessary. FYI. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/21/fashion/21WORK.
446829 tn?1212425523 I have gone through a few diagnoses since a workplace injury one is tension headaches and the other is post conccusive symptoms. It finally has been confirmed through an MRI over 15 months later to be a bulging disc in neck area. I would like to know how a bulging disc could be related to the above diagnoses or if over time could a bulging disc occur from those diagnoses.
899491 tn?1243773627 The med's have flatten out my moods and that's a good thing. The highs are fun to have but I don't want to be followed by the terrible depression either. I had some people say I'm looking better which is nice to hear and treat my illness like any other illness. But this "It's your illness...isn't it" person really p@ssed me off. I guess she wanted the old Bluetwo back with the wicked sense of humor and talking a mile a minute for her entertainment.
Avatar f tn My daughter is 16 and has been going thru an illness where she vomits a lot, GI drs can't find anything wrong and labeled her with IBS. Above not feeling well she can't sleep. Says she lays awake until wee hours of the night or falls asleep but can't stay asleep. Whatever her illness is this non-sleeping is not helping. The insomnia came with the vomiting. This start in April ... she was 'ok' in July/Aug little to no vomiting but she still wasn't sleeping good ...
Avatar m tn Hey guys :) (18 Y/O Female) I'm looking for opinions here; I've had a horrible, worsening condition for almost two years now. It impedes everything in my daily life, and I simply cannot take the whole diagnosing process anymore. I've had tests for so many different conditions, but each time everything has came back fine. I honestly have a ridiculous amount of symptoms (some probably not connected) but somehow they don't correlate into an illness that I could possibly have?
