Common Questions and Answers about Workouts without lifting weights

Avatar n tn Hello all, I have noticed recently, during my weightlifting routines at the gym, that I will occasionally get a fluttering sensation in my heart that lasts about 10 to 15 seconds and occurs randomly while lifting weights or doing abdominal exercises, but oddly enough never during cardio workouts such as running or swimming (chance?). These "flutters" are quite worrisome, as I feel as if my heart may not recover it's consistent beat sometimes.
Avatar f tn I've heard its ok to still workout but what can I do exactly?
Avatar m tn The only way is to workout (lifting weights). Even then there is no guarantee that you will look like them. You would get stronger yes, but the amount of mass you would gain is also determined by genetics not just working out.
Avatar f tn So my fiancè just got us a gym memebership. What workouts can I do while pregnant?
Avatar f tn Be very careful about lifting weights, that can be dangerous for the pregnancy, but if you're already a jogger it won't hurt you si long as you don't over exert yourself. Light exercise is always recommended during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Same here! I am 17+5 and am still lifting weights, spinning, and I started prenatal Pilates. I hope I can keep going, modified as necessary, right up until my little one is here!
942671 tn?1245401709 Talk to your doctor but most recommend continuing with your regular exercise as long as it is not rough or lifting weights too heavy. Though, I know many crossfiters who lift heavy until delivery. Most yoga (except for hot yoga), pilates and even running are fine.
Avatar m tn After I lift weights I get sick, during intense lifting I can feel getting sick, like a cold coming on. I have lifted weights since 18 and I am 24. This started two years ago. Also 2 years ago I was under the assumption I contracted an STD due to my genitals hurting like crazy 3 days after unprotected sex.
Avatar f tn s what your muscles are trained for that counts. The fetus is well protected. Which said, lifting weights requires proper posture and lifting with the legs, not the back. When your bump gets in the way of doing it right, sometime in the third trimester (?), you should ask for help when necessary. Your co-workers will be happy to pitch in. Just my opinion.
Avatar n tn I have always worked out 4-6 days a week (I did the Sweat with Kayla workouts), but since I found out I was pregnant I have switched to walking 2-3 miles like 3 days a week. I feel like I could do more but don't want to push it... Do you guys know what limitations we have on our workouts in the first trimester?
Avatar f tn I do and its healthy for you. If your body is accustomed to lifting moderate to heavy weights I would continue until you get farther along. I just hit 18 weeks and I'm still lifting moderately-heavy. My doc says go with how your body feels. I'm sure by third trimester the weights will have to lower but you r so early on! When in doubt ask your doc!
Avatar f tn I was at the gym probably a little more than a week ago using one of the weight lifting machines for my shoulders, on the last repetition I must have strained myself too much and got a sharp pain at the very top of my neck below my skull followed by a bad headache. Now whenever I try and lift weights I get rather severe headache that lasts anywhere from 15-45 minutes and I feel kind of dizzy and lightheaded.
Avatar n tn I was very active before I got pregnant but haven't really worked out until 18wk cuz I was sick all the time. . I'm 20wk now and I started by walking more and lifting lighter weights like 5lbs.. my dr said it was ok but dont over do it and listen to your body.. if you get tired or dizzy make sure you stop right away. I found some good 2nd trimester safe workouts on pinterest that I love too!
Avatar n tn 30pm when I was lifting weights (I was fine before I started and seemed to be worse when I was exerting myself trying to strengthen my arm muscles). It came back today around 4pm, went away for awhile and is back now at night 11pm. I don't generally get headaches, almost ever. I'm 30, female, and have had probably 3 or 4 headaches in my entire life. So having a headache this long is strange for me. I might also be getting sick, I'm not sure.
559862 tn?1311516637 I also lift weights about once a week and wondered if anyone on here has had experience with lifting while pregnant. From what I've found (of course always ask your doc) that you can continue lifting just not your max and as you get farther in your pregnancy cut the weight in half?!?! Thanks in advance for any replies! p.s. I have not lifted since discovering I am pregnant and till I discuss with doc but wanted to get other womens opinions!
Avatar n tn We could recommend specific exercises, but those two areas can be reached with probably over a thousand different ones, both with weights and without. But they do have to be done correctly to hit the right areas and so you don't injure yourself.
Avatar f tn Vegetables, fruit, and lean meat. Start lifting weights instead of doing lots of cardio. Weight lifting burns calories after you have finished working out. This should help you reach your goal!
Avatar n tn I lifted weights 6 days a week, used professional bodybuilder workout plans. 4-5 workouts per body part, and I hit them pretty heavy. I had a 3-4 % body fat and was extremely fit for my age. It all came with a cost, I was at a local gym and my lung collapsed during chest training. Doctor told me to wait a month, then continue with lifting. I did as they said. Everything was fine...then 4 months later it hits again.
Avatar m tn Do your mean lifting weights as in weight lifting the sport, or lifting weights as in bodybuilding, I cant think of a reason that bodybuilding should stunt your growth, but that you may just a small build, in that case you may find it hard to build your weight up, and weight lifting could stop you growing by the amount of weights that you lift over your head.
Avatar f tn I was a gym addict too lol I was told no weighted squats so stay with air squats. If you are you should be good to continue it. I was still working my arms and back real good and haven't had issues. I have done some free weights but that has to do with how good you are at them.
Avatar f tn But around June 2022, I noticed that I started having some slight knee pain plus heel pain, I didn’t put much attention, thinking it was probably due to my heavy workouts. I would give myself about 3 days to rest and continued lifting weights twice a week. Fast forward to July 2022 I noticed a red lump on my thigh and had it checked out by my dr. who said it was a lipoma.
Avatar m tn First thing before doing any exercise is to warm that muscle by lifting a light weight about 10 times to bring blood to and warm that muscle! As for how much weight to lift it's important to perform the exercise correctly!! (perfect form). Try lifting the maximum weight that you can 1 time but with perfect form!! When you find the weight you can lift with perfect form 1X then only lift 65-85% of that weight!
Avatar f tn ll need to avoid is too much ab workouts, like push ups, weight lifting; and as you get bigger, listen to your body and stop when you need to. No need to push yourself.
