Back when I was 14-17 I would join my father in the gym, but his trainer gave me different things to do to just be fit and toned. I do have some equipment at my house and my husband works crazy hours so we can't just go to a gym. Plus, I would like to look semi-decent to be able to even show up at a gym. (Yea, I've let myself go that bad.
Avatar m tn Generally, you should take breaks when working on specific muscle groups. Give your abs at least a day of rest between each session, and you'll get better results. It gives your muscles time to heal, especially after an exhausting workout. I hope I helped!

Avatar n tn When I did crunches I always put my fingertips behind my ears without any pressure. Your abs should be the only thing working your body during an ab routine. So definitely try again but maybe try a more recent workout. There's a GREAT ab workout routine at s park p eople (no spaces) and the trainer will talk to you about how to do them without straining your neck. Good luck!

For six pack abs, quite frankly, most who have them don't get them through exercise -- it's a sure sign of steroid use, since the belly should have some fat. You'll never see agricultural or hunter-gatherer cultures with flat stomachs. Other than this, the above post is right on.

Like I said I've been disciplined and going every day, but I'm getting discouraged because I don't see my body changing.. Avatar m tn I only do 6-8 sets for my abs at each workout. I usually do 3-4 sets of crunches and 3-4 sets of hanging knee raises, 2-3 times per week. I let the dieting and the cardio work do the rest. Both of them combined help me eliminate all the unwanted body fat that's covering up the cuts in my abs.
Avatar n tn Ok, so this is kinda of hard to explain, but if you work out, before you lose the weight, i know obviously the fat has to go first , but after you do the workout everyday and then run evrryday aswell and eat properly, will your abs come through after all the workout, when you lose the fat? Doing your cardio after your abs workout may help to directly target this area for fat burning as well. Avatar f tn I am in good shape and exercise regularly but when I spend extra time on my lower abs particularly in my hips my muscles get extremely sore. I do not tire out easily while doing the exercise but when I am finished and sit down my muscles lock and sometimes I can not get back up or even lift my leg. One time it caused me to fall out of my car because my leg was locked in the sitting position at the hip. What could be causing this? What can I do?
Avatar f tn Not sure about working out but I know a lot that worked up until they went into labor so that they could have more maternity leave with baby. If they didn't go until they went into labor they usually went up until a week or 2 before their due date.

I have been doing abs workout early in the morning (just for 5-8mins) cause I have to go to work and prepare my lunch box right after workout done. Now I am wondering if I should do my evening workout eg. Cardio-12mins, exercise using elliptical machine-20mins or butt workouts-5mins-8mins. I admit I feel so lazy and just tired after work and I always ended in the kitchen for dinner around 5.45-6pm.

The only thing I would do is to test your blood sugar before you workout and if it is anywhere near normal or low, I would just disconnect the pump or lower your basal rate for that hour. Your doctor can give you better guidelines on how to adjsut your insulin when you exercise. I have exercised with my pump and I have never had any problem, other than being in lousy shape. Those pumps are pretty sturdy and stay put pretty well.

Avatar f tn Any exercise helps in the long run (definitely for labor), just be careful to not over work yourself, take breaks and careful of the abs as you get farther along
Avatar f tn I think it is more important to do the right kind of abdominal work than to do a lot. Have you ever taken pilates. I highly reccommend it for having long, lean muscles and a flat strong core. A video is not the best way to learn it as you don't get any feedback as to if you are doing it right or not. It is easy to "cheat" without knowing it.
