561227 tn?1218383358 What are the options in VA? That's my immediate thought. It's difficult to deal with panic and anxiety alone and I would agree that you could draw benefit of a mental health professional to find coping techniques. What about asking your GP for a referral to a psychologist? That has been and still is my way out of anxiety/panic.
Avatar n tn Hello~ My daughter is 3 yrs old and was scheduled for her 3rd Nystagmus surgery this week but since Dr. Hertle is on leave we were cancelled. He gave us a name of Dr. Edward Wilson at the Storm Eye Clinic in South Carolina. We live in Louisiana but we have traveled to Pittsburgh to see Dr Hertle because we thought him to be the best! Any new on Dr Wilson or about when Dr. Hertle may return. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Avatar m tn Then my doctor quit and my new doctor cut me off...I did rehab at Coatsville in PA at the VA center there..I stayed clean for about 6 weeks after leaving there...I was spending about $1500 monthly for these pills and just recently asked the VA to see a Pain Management Clinic and they declined because at the VA they just give you Methodone for pain..I am requesting an increase in my percentage due to all of these new problems I am experiencing...
Avatar n tn The VA uses tmed for things like treating disability cases that are not close to a VA center. Does that make any sense? I went through PTSD therapy at the VA and never found a therapy named tmed that was used on me. If you find out more let me know.

645800 tn?1466860955 Of course while I was up at the VA I got a call at home from the VA. It was the rehab clinic calling to have me come in for a fit for crutches and training in using them before the surgey. At this rate I should should just move in to the VA as I'm spending all of my time there. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to do the rehab clinic next Friday before the LP as it is scheduled for 10AM. And I sure won't be able to do it afterwards.
Avatar m tn Now i have glasses. I get double vision if i try to read looking up or down. I see a bubble in the center of vision sometimes. The neurologist said i should check up in a year to make sure i dont have ms. MS went in one ear and out the other. Yea right, i dont have MS. I thought he was a quack. 2013. Spring. I started having horrible fatigue. I would wake up exhausted. I still have it now. Everything just takes so much energy to do now.
1196731 tn?1265083734 I got out of the hospital about a week-and-a-half later after busting my tail in physical and neurological rehab, doctoring my answers, if necessary, to get out of said cold, uncomfortable setting.. One thing that arose during my physical rehab and despite the cornucopia of meds I was on, was a serious pain on the inside half of my left foot. My PT dismissed it and all rested comfortably. 9 months later, sans the veil of daily tramadol and lyrica pills, the pain and limp is still there..
Avatar f tn I never discourage people from going to a treatment place if they can. My dad, one sister, aunt and I are all alcoholics. I went to several rehabs and would reccomend them all. Hina Mauka on Ohau HI was a 6 month live in when I was there. Unfortunatly they are outpatient now. But there are 1000s in america I would think. I never paid for any of them. I went to the VA rehab in Albany N.Y and now I think that's not a live in either.
535822 tn?1443976780 Thanks for the input butterfly I have heard it mentioned a lot in this administration and it does have connections back to Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson..sounds like both parties have members with the same beliefs, as this movement ...a lot of interesting connections ..
7689249 tn?1408018598 well i found a rehab to go to I'm going on aug 25th but the weird thing is she said its tricky with insurances and detox and mine might not pay and she can't see if they will until I'm there and if they dont cover it it cost 9000$ so i will have to leave weird i think but whatever i just hope they will pay without any trouble cuz i need this real bad i am very excited to be going i can't wait to see what life is like being free and sober
471949 tn?1236904026 At one time I had spoken with the suicide coordinator at the VA medical center where I get treatment...she promised to keep in touch with me and see how I was doing; but she has never called me again. That's how the VA works. Just one of the many reasons why I want out of their system so badly. My new therapist has done me more harm than good. These horrible thoughts are ever-present. I won't go to the VA ER....out of the question.
Avatar f tn I think the only rational for the different regional control is that it cost more for one VA center to be run over another (doctors pay, etc) is due to the different cost of living. This I do agree with but it shouldn't control the level of care we receive. There should be a national policy on what they level of care we get. If one Vet center gives those WalkAide foot drop systems to Vets with MS, why can't we get them at other VA center?
Avatar m tn When you get your appointment with your primary care physician, ask for a referral to the VA physical rehab unit. They have an excellent program that will teach you exercises to diminish the pain, separate the vertebra, increase muscle tone and relieve pressure on the nerves. They will provide you with a TENS device for pain, and transdermal lidocaine patches. The lidocaine patches are not in the VA system so there will be a small review before they are approved.
Avatar f tn I heard from the Pharmacy today. We signed all the paper work to start treatment with teleprivir and the two others. The Hepatologist tried to get it through the VA but couldn't. VA never treated pretransplant and we went out of VA to get the transplant. The pharmacy was so shocked that VA wouldn't pay for the drugs. The Pharm Co's are providing the meds.. Pretransplant my husband read about it until he was to encephaloptic to concentrate.
501205 tn?1227345442 I cant sleep and was watching the VH1 show Celeb Rehab and I have to say I wish I could have detoxed in that center! Its so nice. Hell, I wish I could stay there right now. I like Dr. Drew too. People say that he is a fame--- but I dont know . he seems to really care about his patients. Either way that recovery center is so nice and beautiful.
1481176 tn?1291392092 I have finally been authorized to go there by the Atlanta VA Medical Center. At first I was told I could see a non-VA neurologist but only in the state of Georgia. My neurologist intervened and suggested Vanderbilt as 'the only program found that can perform this rare and specialized service." I have been approved by the VA to go to Vanderbilt. From the research I have done, Vanderbilt seems to be an excellent choice. But I want to ask others on this forum what their opinion is.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately, I am not in a position to select Doctors...I must utilize the services of my local VA Medical Center. Veterans using the VA MC's must manage their health care or risk becoming one of the many horror stories about VA care that seem to perpetuate. Some are true...
