There have been a lot of questions about this but I want to find out what brown discharge before a period means for me.
I am 21, NOT sexually active - in fact, I've never had sex. I took pills awhile back to control my acne breakout but stopped after 3-4 months of use.(I became really moody) The last time i took them was about less than 2 years ago. Then around November last year, I noticed brown discharge before my period and it has continued ever since. There's no odor.
the brown watery discharge sounds like your period is ending or beginning to start. All women's discharge are very different. I've experienced a huge amount of discharge everyday and I was scared so I went to get a STD test. All my symptoms came back negative and said that is just my normal everyday discharge. Now if you are not using a condom it is likely to catch a STD.
As I draw nearer to my period date, the discharge seem to get heaver color-wise. It would be light brown discharge one day, then red-ish the next, then back to brown and so on, sometimes red. I'm due in about a day or 2 and just today it started to look more like period blood when I use the bathroom. I thought I would start today, but after a few times on and off through the day, it seem to disappear and has resume back to light brown discharge.

it just started to itch, and there is a white/light light shade of yellow discharge now. For this year, Last January, I had my period at the 2nd week to the last of the month. I had sex again last Feb. and my period missed. Now it is March and for the first week, I had this discharge, yellowish and sort of sticky.. After it was a brown stain.. I thought it was my period but still I don't know yet..
I used to be regular, then I missed my period for several months, not pregnant though. Just this past week however my period came as dark brown throughout the whole thing, never getting red blood. my periods have been irregular and never a normal flow since feb. 2010. my boyfriend and i do have unprotected sex and only use my pills as contraceptives, which i take same time every day...been tested for stds a few months ago, what should i be concerned about???

Brown discharge is usually the result of old blood. An irregular period or delayed (late) period can often shed older tissue that will begin with a darker burgundy or brown appearance because of the older cells being expelled during the start of your period. Bleeding during or after masturbation shouldn't be considered normal; you either need to use a water based lubricant, or be more gentle during masturbation.
After i stop taking BCP , 8 days before my expected period I experience heavy bleeding and cramps for 1 day and the next day I have a brown discharge for like 2 to 3 days. And now I am almost 17 days late, and have a white discharge.
Also experience headache , feel sick , back pain and my nipples hurt.. I have unprotected sex few times since i stop BCP..

Please elaborate the symptoms that you are having like heavy, scanty bleeding, increased/ decreased number of days of bleeding, post intercourse bleeding, brown discharge, smell during discharge or intermenstrual bleeding so that a list of differentials can be made and I can help you in a better way.

On March 28th I started a regular 4 day period, felt like I ovulated the day I should have (had a tiny bit of brown discharge during ovulation) and its now may 15th and I haven't even spotted since march. I have taken multiple pregnancy test and all negative. How long should I wait with no period before going to the dr? My periods have always been 28 days and VERY regular.
for the past few months Ive been spotting 3-6 days before my period...Like a brown, orange, and light pink discharge...It will be on and off for those days some days ill spot in my underwear and some days I wont...but If i take a q-tip and place it in my vaginal area it will always have discharge I guess up there...What does that mean...It has never active when it happened and Im not that active when it comes to sex....can someone help!!!
I had brown discharge for 5 days before my last period...I had a normal period. It came when it was souppose to and lasted the usual length. The brown discharge was kinda heavy and very dark. My next period is due in 15 days. I had protected sex a few weeks before this happened,and had protected sex 2 nights prior to the brown discharge starting. After the last time I had sex I took 2 of my birth control pills that I had missed,I didn't know if that could have messed up my hormonal balances?
Your body may be preparing to start your period. The brown discharge is called old blood. The first couple of times you may have this discharge but you will eventually have the red blood. I would not worry unless it has an unusual smell, last for over a week or if you start having bad pains before discharge. If that happens go get it checked, until then just relax and see what will happen. Best wishes.
Hi all. I'm 17 years old and I've been on birth control for a little more than a year and a half. I've had brown discharge before but not the week before my period, but during my ovulation. I'm a little confused as to what this means because it's never happened to me before and if I should go see a doctor about it. As of right now, it seems that the discharge is slowing or stopping I can't figure out which one at this point in time.
I had a very heavy period in April. (I've never had one like this) It lasted about 8 days. Once it ended I spotted and had brown discharge in May and in June. I haven't had a period since April. I have not taken a pregnancy test because I have no symptoms. Every time I wipe there is a little bit of brown discharge. Can anyone help me?
I'm on birth control and i suddenly have brown discharge 2 weeks before my period. I had sex a little over 2 weeks ago w/ a condom and he did not finish in me. when i saw the discharge, took a test and confirmed i am not pregnant. I started getting the discharge on Sunday. I got my cartilage pierced 1 week before that and it didn't hurt until sunday as well. i also developed a cyst behind my ear (still on head and not on ear) .
