Hi all, wondering if you have come across information indicating that flagyl can treat babesia at the same time it's treating Lyme. I understand it's also a antiparasitic, so not sure if that counts. If anyone knows or has heard their LLMD mention this please let me know. I just took my first dose of Flagyl, keeping my fingers crossed that I see some fantastic results!
Nope, I haven't had any cultures done. That's why I don't want to take such a strong antibiotic or any antibiotic for that matter, unless I know its the right antibiotic for what I have. Since the symptoms started after the oral sex, it is logical to assume that this was sexually transmitted. So I'm assuming I don't have a normal UTI bacteria but a sexually acquired bacteria, such as ureaplasma/mycoplasma. I don't think bactrim will be good for that?
I'm not sure how long my LLMD is proposing to treat me. I started on a four day coctail of flagyl, biaxin, and omnicef.
That was fun.
now on omnicef which seems to be somewhat helping except the days with the herx which are terribel but a means to an end.
I'm not sure about any co-infections. The doctor assistant mentioned doing some parasite testing via stool sampling.
It basically cleanses your sinuses with a warm saline solution. Its a bit tricky to get the hang of it - but once you do, its very soothing - and keeps things "moving" nicely. Before C Diff I had chronic sinusitus, but havent had an infection since using this thing (knocking wood). Best of luck to you.

About 1 year ago I as given Omnicef for a bacterial infection. After 3 days of tumultuous diarrhea, I finally stopped this drug but not soon enough. Ever since then, I have had stomach problems. It first started out as irregular and often BM’s, and then progressed to

I am prepared for even bigger herx once I add the septra.. I am on everything except the Cefidinir(Omnicef) bc she is adding that after we add the Septra and sees if it is well tolerated.
As others stated, you need antibiotics for a UTI - they only sell pain relief OTC and none will actually treat it. It's important to treat it soon, otherwise it can travel to other places including your kidneys.
If you treat it properly it shouldn't I am sure everything will be fine as long as you treat it before the baby is here that way It won't affect him/her when they pass thru the birth canal.
It's probably a UTI, and you'll need antibiotics to treat it. If you're uninsured, there are clinics that do sliding scale fees. Planned Parenthood could probably treat you easily for a UTI. It's highly unlikely that it will go away on its own, and it can damage your kidneys are urinary system.
Sex can cause UTIs, and some women seem to be particularly vulnerable to them.
But in the meantime, drink lots and lots and lots of water so that you pee a LOAD ;) that will help flush it out. Also, cranberry juice helped me a lot when I had a light uti and had pain urinating. Lots of cranberry juice. And warm washcloth to wipe your private parts after urinating- just make sure to dey yourself up as much as you can afterwards! Good luck! Hope you feel better soon!
Hello, My 3 year old son has had a seasonal runny nose for the last 2 years. It runs clear from about November - May and then he is fine all summer. It runs constnatly and is annoying to him, but does not seem to cause him any other physical discomfort. At night while he sleeps, it stops, and he sleeps all night. As soon as he wakes up, it begins again.
He has had blood work done and was found NEGATIVE for allergies. The doctor says he has acute Rhinitis (runny nose).
A urine culture at a doctors office will tell what kind of infection she has. They sometimes just do a quick test to start with from a urine sample and if that if positive they can do a culture but often the doctors just treat with antibiotics. They may want to take blood to check the BUN and Creatinine that shows if the kidneys are functioning properly as well. I would get her to the doctor as soon as you can. A lot of times implants can become infected so that is another issue.
