Hi! Doctors will prescribe either clomid or letrozole to assist with ovulation. There's two main differences: it doesn't have anti-estrogenic side effects like clomid; and although studies have proven letrozole is an effective fertility drug it hasn't been approved by the FDA yet for fertility use, thus isn't covered by insurance (beware it's very expensive). Letrozole was developed to treat estrogen-sensitive breast cancers.

Hello, my husband and I have been trying to conceive since we've gotten married 8 yrs ago. I was diagnosed with pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome) in 2006. I'm not overweight, and my cycles come every month but not consistently. Well, this entire month of Nov., I have not gotten my period. I thought I might finally be pregnant so I went to my dr. and the test was negative. How can this be?? I get my period every month, finally miss a cycle, and it's negative?

Anyone get pregnant using femara/letrozole after being given unexplained infertility diagnosis? How many months did you take it before you got your positive? Me: 28 Hubby: 30 Sperms analysis perfect, laparoscopy perfect, all tests for ovulation and ultrasounds looked perfect. Trying since 2012 no pregnancy yet This is my 2nd cycle on femara, next ovulation expected on 1/14. If 3rd cycle not successful, will do iui with femara anyone else done this and got pregnant? ?

They feel if he is treated by Letrozone, it will delay his growth plate which will allow him to grow much longer. I am looking for help here. Has anyone done letrozole vs clomid? side affects? BFPs? also - i will be in NY when Af starts - and will hopefully make it back somewhere between CD2-5 or i will have to have CD3 labs and US done up there and rx called in there as well. so nervous and hesitant to spend so much $ - esp when we have a blessing with our 2.5 yr old. thoughts?

I have been on letrozole for 5 months now and nothing.I had a miscarriage in march and have been taking this since march.The only side effects I have had are hot flashes in the beginning but I do get stabbing headaches occasionally.Has anyone else had to go from letrozole to something else that helped get them pregnant.

Thank you both for this, I will put all these comments forward to my dr and if she refuses will see if I can order a small dose on internet, her reason will be for refusing is the drug hasnt been PROFESIONALY proved to help with ovulation therefore she cant prescribe it!

immediatly after he took it he started developing gyno. it has been 4 days. when do you think they will stop growing? and he bought an anti estrogen+test booster. will will start taking in 2 days. how fast should these go away. the product is supposed to superb good for this.

Some women get a thinner uterine lining on clomid, so I think just switching to femara/letrozole will help. Not really sure if there's anything you can take to thicken it, though, other than perhaps an estrogen supplement. Best of luck!

Just before i found out i was pregnant my doctor had prescribed me letrozole femara which I didnt end up needing to take. Unfortunately, because I was so overwhelmed with grief over the miscarriage and could not think rationally, I decided to take the letrozole counting the bleeding from the d&c as a period in which i used from day 2 throught to day 6.
