Common Questions and Answers about Why would blood sugar drop after eating

blood-sugar

Avatar n tn t understand why this happened so sudden. I ate 2 slices of pizza and my blood sugar dropped after eating the pizza so there has to be something else wrong.
Avatar f tn Hypoglycemia/ low blood sugar would be considered blood sugar levels less than about 70. Your result of 103 is normal, not hypoglycemia. It is likely that your symptoms may be from other causes. Sometimes headaches can be a sign of not drinking enough - so a glass of water and a few minutes to relax / be quiet - may help a lot. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn blood sugar 137 before exercising. After 15 minutes light-to-moderate exercise, it was 85. One time I felt particularly shaky, and it was 65. I didn't test before, but I felt "normal". What's worse is that I am getting these drops from even minimal physical activity. As an example: blood sugar 110, after walking at a slow pace (strolling) for a mere 10 minutes, I start to feel a little shaky and my sugar is 78.
Avatar n tn I notice that when I wake up in the morning its about 90 but when I eat toast I get very hungry and shaky around noon. When I take my blood it 50 to 60. Is the bread causing my blood sugar to drop?
Avatar f tn For anyone that finds this in their searches, it turns out that I actually have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). Autonomic testing showed a drop in blood pressure after eating which cause these symptoms!
Avatar n tn To add to Super_sally888, eating foods that contain white sugar, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup or refined carbohydrates can cause your sugar levels to spike and then suddenly drop as if you have hypoglycemia. This sudden drop in blood sugar levels is due to your pancreas releasing too much insulin to counteract the sudden high blood sugar levels that occurred from eating the aforementioned food types.
Avatar f tn The only way to know for sure is to have your blood sugar tested. I would recommend speaking with your doctor about your symptoms. If your blood sugar is elevated, you are going to have to make some dietary changes. You could try making them now and start to decrease the amount of carbs in your diet. Instead of the candy bar, you could try a snack high in protein which will not cause your blood sugar to spike and then drop.
Avatar m tn This is 4 hours after eating lunch. My question is, is it normal for it to drop this quickly? Do I need to be concerned that it drops to low? Also, I was using the restroom up to 7 times a night before, and now just after 2 days on this medicine, I only went once the past 2 nights. Is this normal? Sorry with all the questions, but I am new to all of this. Thanks for any advice.
Avatar f tn Various things can lead to low blood sugars. If you go without eating for a period of time, your blood sugar can drop, or if you exercise strenuously (especially if you do both in combination). If you are on insulin than taking too much insulin for the carbs you are eating can definitely cause low blood sugars and these can be the more dangerous kind because you can drop very rapidly. If you are getting frequent lows, talk to your doctor.
Avatar f tn Even though the theory is that your baby will get the nutrition it needs from your body, if your body has no nutritional input for 24 hours and has no customary way of dealing with that fact, the baby will feel the drop in your blood sugar even if your body will ultimately be able to pull some resources from your muscles and fat reserves. A wildly swinging blood sugar level, from 0 one day to high the next, as you fast and eat, is not going to be a good signal to your body.
Avatar n tn For the past few weeks I have eaten nothing but sugar packets. Thanks to Halloween I have candy but my blood sugar continues to drop so quick. It use to 2 hours before my blood sugar drops now it is every 30 minutes. Candy nor sugar is keeping it up. I live off $7/mo. Any advice?
Avatar f tn my husband was 2yrs post liver transplant, that is the one reason why he is also now suffering from monitor blood sugar problem. my question now is about fluctition of his blood glucose, we have a kit monitoring it before and after meal, but there was time when we check it is high then after just a minute it drop down, we are really worried why is this happening? hoping that anyone could help!
Avatar m tn You say you were tested for diabetes? Well, sometimes low blood sugar can cause the sleepiness after eating, have you had a glucose tolerance test performed?
Avatar n tn Now she is type 1 and my Father is type 2 and even though its not funny we would laugh cause he would almost go right to sleep after eating anything sweet. Then he found out he was type 2 and doing good on the medications from his doctor. Get it checked out now do not wait.
Avatar n tn 30 am, this would indicate that your insulin dose was too large for the foods that you ate. Perhaps the amount of carbs in the food was less than you expected, and thus the amount of insulin injected was too much. Have you tried basal and bolus testing to determine your ideal rate?
Avatar f tn I had this very early in my pregnancy and had to change what and how I eat. Certain foods can cause your blood sugar to spike up and then drop very quickly. I can't eat cake or even toast in the morning cause it will do it to me. Try staying away from sugary and breads early in morning or just one peice of wheat toast instead of two peices and eating more often. Have you had your sugar test yet?
Avatar m tn Recently (few months back) she experienced her sugar level in around 230 (Fasting) and had to take new medicine. After that now the fasting blood sugar is somewhat OK. but the random blood sugar level still goes around 200 occasionally. The worse thing is now once in a week or two, her blood sugar level drops to around 50. When such a drop happens, she feels fainted and lot of sweat comes out. Today when we checked the sugar level it was 44 and then she took some sweets.
Avatar n tn This only ever happens after lunch time. What could cause a sudden drop in blood pressure after eating? Sometimes the end of a headache corresponds with a series of heart palpitations or a slight burning (like an adrenaline rush) in the chest. However, most of the time my head stops hurting while I'm asleep. On a related note, I've been woken up by extreme rushes of adrenaline in the middle of the night on occasion.
Avatar m tn why did my glucose level continue to rise over 3 hours instead of peak and drop down like most people do? And why would I get more sick after eating than I would having a 100 mg dose of glucose on an empty stomach? My doctor is out of town for another 2 1/2 weeks and the nurse had really no advice for me other than sometimes your body produces a large amount of insulin after you eat which can cause this feeling. So why didn't I get this feeling immediately from the test?
Avatar f tn Fasting should be 80-90, 1 hr after eating 120-140, and 2 hrs after eating 100-120. Not sure if that's what you mean or not? Or after the glucose test. I've been using a glucometer to keep track of mine over the course of a week.
Avatar n tn I also have insulin resistance, but showing signs of low blood sugar. When my blood sugar was lasted tested 20minutes after eating protein and carbs by blood sugar level was 112. I get very bad headaches if I do not eat every 2.5hrs and suffer from blurred vision and dry mouth and feel like passing out. Once I eat or drink (nonwater) anything I feel better for about 15minutes then I feel very tired and get a pressure type headache with dizziness.
Avatar m tn I had went to the emergency last week because of some other symptoms that I have been having. They did a blood work up and my blood sugar level was at a 57. I hadn't eaten anything all day and by the time they had released me I had taken a couple of sips of my daughters sprite and it went up to 98. So the said I was fine. Since then I have been very worried about this so I decided to get myself a meter so that I could test myself.
Avatar f tn My first question to you is do you get the shakes no matter what food you eat? 2) Or, the shakes specific to certain types of foods? Here's what I would do if I were in your shoes; ask the doctor for a referral to an Endocrinologist (diabetes specialist). I also suggest you start monitoring and keeping a log of foods you consume. Log what you eat, how much you eat and how you feel directly after, 1 hour, 2 and 3 hours later. Do this for every meal, including snacks.
Avatar n tn Let me add that the problem arises only after eating sugar and nothing else. She can eat large amounts of bread, cheese with none of the symptoms.
Avatar n tn And I realize McDonald's is very bad for you, but I've never felt this way before after eating fast food of any kind.
