why do my fingernails grow so fast

It's so true. I can not believe my baby girl will be 1 in two months its unreal how fast it goes by.

My daughter is 11. When she was 4, all of the bases of her fingernails started to disappear. There was no nail growing. After a couple of months, her nails began to grow again. The doctor said it was probably from a fever she had weeks prior. Now, she has the same problem happening to her left thumb. There is a large circular area at the base of her thumb nail that is void of nail. She went to the doctor yesterday and they said they have no idea why it did that.

This is so frustrating! I can't grow my fingernails out at all, because when I do, parts of my fingernails 'droop' over the tip of my fingers. It's not the entire nail -not like a club nail- it's just parts of the nail. Parts of the nail are straight while other parts of the same nail 'droop.' The mail becomes 'wavy.' Almost as if parts of the nail are stronger than the rest of the nail. All of my fingernails are like this.

My fingernails have always been as hard as,... well,.... nails. They got brittle during TX especially my thumbs. All my fingers nails are not as hard as before but have strengthened. My thumbnails are another story. The center (from side to side) is soft as can be and brittle, they split but the sides are hard so I end up with rounded wear gouges that I can't keep up with. They look like cr@p not that it really matters.

isn't it just amazing how fast our little guys/gals grow? my oldest (by 5 minutes lol) brett started cruising today!!! he pulled himself up to standing next to the couch (he's been doing that for about a week now) and cruised his way down to me. lol. i do have a question for those who have already had their babies....what did you do about your stretch marks? no matter what i do i can't get them to go away completely.

I ask because for the past few years my nails have been very blah, the minute they start to grow they just split and peel. Now, I have noticed being on the VD for the past few weeks/months my nails finally seem to be growing slowly and not splitting or peeling, yet anyhow.

Does anyone have osteoarthritis and bone spurs? How fast do bone spurs grow? Do they grow on the base of the thumb? I have a lump that is hard (and hurts if I press on it) and about the size of a small pea, that was not there in September. In under 2 months this lump grew, and I want to know if it could it be a bone spur, or a rheumatoid nodule. (I have "diffuse osteoarthritis" in my joints and spine) and I am only 58. Does osteoarthritis manifest like this?

Are you sure they don't grow or does he bite them maybe? My son will be 2 in July and I rarely have to cut his nails, I think while he's playing they may break or get snagged on something and tear off, just like what may happen to an adult, when he was younger I had to cut them, or at least I did to make sure they didn't get long.

I have to live with what I have today, which is a brain that doesn’t function is fast as others and the reality that my career may not grow any further. But that reality is so depressing. I know I could do things to help myself improve but I’m not sure why I don’t. I’m a little stuck right now in life.

Just get a few things but honestly the babies grow so quick and they are so expensive that you will be so thankful! My husbands makes really good money but my sis n law gave us all her boys clothes, plus baby clothes are just as expensive as adult clothes! Just wash them trust me your mind will change !

s orange and not red, that is significant because there are some causes of red fingernails that are pretty serious. (The most minor sounding one is carbon-monoxide poisoning.) So again, unless you know an obvious cause such as a blow to your hand, I'd see the doctor.

The doctor says my thyroid hormone levels fluctuates as do my symptoms. My fingernails are the worst and I am so very tired and weak. They are very soft and thin with ridges. I thought the synthyroid was supposed to help with these issues. I have cravings to cut the upper part of my left arm and i dont know why? I plunge my fingernails or sharp tools which i can find, into them and they leave very visibly scars. I really want to stop. I really want to stop feeling so unlike me. I've had this problem for maybe 3 years or so .. and now its getting ridiculous. I've been taking them for over a year now in hopes of getting pregnant...I was pregnant but lost the pregnancy in Dec., and have continued to take them...My hair grows pretty fast anyway, so I'm sure about that, but they definately make my fingernails grow faster and they are more strong than they used to be.

All of my toenails have turned white. Some ridges. One has some brown spots. My fingernails, you can see the change occuring but not as noticable & I have ridges in all of my fingernails. My doctor could not give me any explanation except that it wasn't due to fungus.

I had surgery to remove one 2 years ago in my inner lip.. it wasn't painful and the recovery was fast good luck!
