Avatar m tn My doctor told me to start taking a B vitamin complex. I took it & my urine turned BRIGHT yellow. Is this normal or OK?
1381186 tn?1280202029 Not sure about the magnesium question -- magnesium doesn't usually nauseate people. It can cause loose stools if you take too much or if you take unabsorbable forms of it. Minerals can also be a problem if taken apart from meals, although magnesium can be useful for relaxing the muscles if taken apart from meals before bedtime. The mineral most associated with causing nausea is iron.
Avatar n tn The medical profession [if they really do want smokers to quit] might want to consider giving smokers what they actually crave in a prescription of B complex vitamins [B3, B6 and B12] The strategy could do more to get smokers to quit than the billions wasted to date, teaching the rest of us to hate them.
Avatar f tn My doctor put me on Folic acid because i had a high red blood cell count is that the same as a b complex? it was suppose to help with my fatigue also but it hasn't really made much of an improvement. I'm considering going back to my doctor and seeing what other alternatives it might be, she did an x-ray of my sinuses last time but they all came back clear.
574118 tn?1305135284 Yes there are specific FDA guidelines as to how much a person can take as regards vitamins (and other nutrition supplements as well). The guidelines as regards what might cause mania are less established because there hasn't been that much research in that area but there is that potential with higher doses of b vitamins.
Avatar f tn If your not showing other symptoms, I would go back to your dr and ask for a referral to a blood specialist. to get a better course of action. As far as the b-complex, try and take the liquid or sublingual, they work MUCH better.
Avatar f tn As soon as I took the recommended dosage of a Stress B-Complex supplement, with in 30 minutes I began to feel an itchy sensation through out my body and the out break of hives and rashes. As soon as I felt this I rushed and took dose of an Anihistimine and with in minutes the symptoms began to subside. B-Complex and other supplements are not for everyone.
1808884 tn?1324345703 MAKE SURE TO TAKE VITAMIN B-12, MULTI-VIT, VIT-C, CALCIUM (NOT AT THE SAME TIME AS C OR THE C WILL KILL THE CALCIUM), MAGNESIUM. I AM TAKING FOLIC ACID WITH B-12. I WOULD MAKE SURE THAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU BY LOOKING IT UP ON LINE, IT'S PROBABLY OK!
Avatar f tn ve pretty much eliminated dairy until dinnertime and are taking most of my vitamins with dinner now, but the B in the evening seems to be keeping me awake. I'm also considering adding a supplement with selenium but haven't yet. What specific time of day are most people taking their thyroid medications and other vitamins? Any thoughts on incorporating dairy? Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn con't the deficiency of Thiamine Vitamin B1 causing the neuropathy; because thiamine is also known as "food for the nerves...just a suggestion! (sources of Thiamine B1: Brown Rice; Brewers Yeast; peas; nuts; seeds...
Avatar m tn Thanks. I think you cover everything except: 1. Vitamin B complex (Hepatitis B carriers seem to be low in Vitamin B, see below) 2. No excessive iron (viruses love iron, I was told) http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1478-3231.2010.02390.x/full In conclusion, HBsAg serum levels could be the result of the complex balance between the virus and the host's immune system as well as the product of the transcription of specific mRNAs rather than viral replication.
Avatar m tn You could ask about trying a B50 or B75, but the more important question is why she has you on the B supplement. It might just be for one or two of the B's, but has you on the complex because B's work in synergy with one another and too much of one can leach out another. In that case, she very well might want you to waste the money just to be safe and get the right amount of the one or two she really thinks you need more of.
Avatar m tn For a good multi-vitamin, I consider the minimum to be at least 25 milligrams of each of the main Bs (B-1, B-2, B-6, e.g.). I also consider more to be better as far as the water-soluble vitamins go (the Bs, vitamin C, and some others are water-soluble, while A, D, E, and K are fat soluble). 'Bear in mind that the RDI (recommended daily intake), DV (daily value), or whatever, is calculated to be the dose that keeps you from overtly DYING of a nutrient deficiency.
Avatar f tn Some B vitamins do help convert food to energy, but they also do other things. B6 is an essential cofactor in producing serotonin, which produces melatonin, which helps you sleep. It is an essential cofactor in producing GABA, which is the body's relaxant. Niacin slows down high blood pressure, surely not an energizing function.
Avatar f tn I am glad you are followed by a doctor, is he the one who prescribed the isotretinioin? And why are you having the B12 added? I would talk to them about it as well as ask your usual pharmacist. I would be hesitant to add it myself. Here is some reading on the subject: https://www.pharmacytimes.
2001997 tn?1333888744 So why would he tell me to wait on the Prenatal??? The B complex does not have Iron. So I should take the Prenatal insteed of the B complex??
Avatar f tn There an awful lot of them that might help. I'd recommend you find a holistic nutritionist for help with this. They'll help to make you as strong as they can, and with so many things to choose from and not knowing what meds you might be taking, they can help with the trial and error of finding what works. Diet is also very important for this particular problem, more so than supplements.
Avatar f tn For a more complete answer read the book Natural Highs by Hyla Cass, a psychiatrist at UCLA. Taking what's called a stress B is good for helping the body adapt to stress, but it's unlikely if your anxiety is severe enough to require a benzo that merely taking vitamin Bs would do the trick unless you're quite deficient in the most important ones to the nervous system, mostly B6, B12, niacinamide.
540736 tn?1213914170 thanks so much..I do ovulate but have NO cervical mucus even checked by doctor so that is concerning me a bit. There has to be a reason what I don't have any. I do subhstitute with preseed. I also have a very stressful life ( who dosen't right?
Avatar m tn It sounds as though you've had quite a few challenges in your young life. How is your intake of Vitamin B? B vitamins are crucial to mental clarity and brain function. It improves mood and outlook. Adding a B Complex tab to your daily regimen of supplements may help. Consider also that naturally occuring substance in our systems called SAM-E (S-adenosyl methionine). It can not only strengthen brain function and emotional well-being, but it is also a necessary component to our joint health.
1110049 tn?1409402144 O. guidelines for the limit as regards vitamins a person can take. The field of orthomolecular psychiatry (the use of vitamins for potential psychiatric benefit) wasn't able to find any conclusive results but there is still some continuing research. There is some information on research that you could find by doing a google search on "Pubmed" that you could discuss with your psychiatrist.
Avatar n tn You and I may have the same issue. I also have all kinds of strange symptoms. Most B complex vitamins have quite a bit. I don't see how the body would/could keep that much. Any leftover would get filtered and urinated out. If your urine does not have a strong yellow color, that must mean the vitamins weren't absorbed by the small intestine in the first place. And various vitamin/mineral deficiencies can cause all kinds of strange symptoms.
Avatar m tn The B vitamins work together (synergistically), so it may not be the form of B12 but the combination of all the B vitamins which may explain why you feel a more positive affect.
760797 tn?1303264540 Royal jelly and maca root powder have a lot of the vitamins you are currently taking and I would not recommend that you take any more additional supplements to the ones you mentioned. Royal jelly has the same ingredients as the B complex drops and maca root contains many of the ingredients mentioned in a standard prenatal vitamin.
