Avatar m tn I have had breathing tests that shows my lung capacity is 65%. I just started to take Symbicort. Could the Symbicort be raising my blood pressure, or is it all in my head? When I take my BP a couple of hours after taking Symbicort its high. My Meds are: Crestor 40mg Amlodine 5mg Synthroid .250mcg Lisinopril 40mg twice a day Zolpidem 10mg Metoprolol 50mg one & 1/2 pills twice a day Symbicort 80/4.
718416 tn?1259680550 Does anyone know whether long term acting beta agonists or cortisteroids are safer long term? What is safer on the heart? Also does xanax counter effect the high blood pressure etc. associated with asthma medicines?

Avatar n tn t quite sure myself about the Symbicort and blood sugar levels, so I did a little research and here is a link to what I found - it comes directly from the Symbicort website. http://www.mysymbicort.com/asthma/index.aspx?source=20048&WT.
Avatar f tn These are not adverse reactions from Symbicort. Please make an appointment with a gynecologist and/or an endocrinologist.
Avatar f tn I have tried all of the antihistamines around, none with a decongestant. Benadryl will put me to sleep and make me feel tired the next day, so I try not to use that unless it is a must. Alergia made me dry up too much but then it started making me feel odd, so I waited a few days and tried Zertic, that was the same reaction, so I again waited a few days and went back with Cleartin, same reaction. My PC doctor did give me the Singulair since I do have Asthma.
Avatar f tn Hmm, really? That is so interesting! I am only on an oral contraception at this time. So Symbicort can cause pupillary abnormalities? Is it specifically known to cause tadpole pupil, tonic pupil or pupil movement? Or all of what I am experiencing? Do you know any more about this or the mechanism by which Symbicort causes that side effect? Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn Yours is a very common history of asthma that varies in intensity over time through a lifetime, often for reasons that are not immediately obvious. The great response to Symbicort is very encouraging and the best indicator that you have controllable asthma. I would interpret your “normal” pulmonary function tests in that same manner.
Avatar m tn but it just wasnt cutting it the past year for her, and needed to advance to something else, but for many years it worked pretty good. She initally experience the rapidness but it subsided. Now she is on the symbicort and hates that it is a powdery- like substance, and is still experiencing wheezing. I think that majority of the controller inhalers do cause some jitteryness at first, and definitely the rescue inhalers do.
959034 tn?1253671476 m allowed to take up to 8/day of symbicort 200 on a regular basis. That is the beauty of this one. Unfortunately Symbicort doesn't come in a stronger dose,as I was informed by my specialist. The only other one that is stronger is Advair 500...but you can't up the number of puffs on that one like you can with Symbicort, so it too is self limiting. I'm working on this issue yet with my specialist. I will let you know what solution she comes up with...
Avatar n tn I smoked around 2 packs a day In around march of 2011 , I bought a carton of cigarrettes from a friend of mine who is a liquidator in new jersey . As soon as i smoked the first cigeratte i suddenly lost my breath and couldnt breathe for 2-3 seconds . This was the first time in my life that i experienced shortness of breath . I was scheduled for a normal visit with my gp who heard me wheezing and referred me to a specialist and ordered a chest x-ray .
1098963 tn?1257865718 My significant other is taking Symbicort 160/4.5. I have been told that the steroid in symbicort can be transmitted into my system through any exchange of "bodily fluids" and possibly have a bad reaction with my HBP meds...is this true? thankyou!
Avatar f tn I am 21 weeks pregnant & I'm pretty sure on who the father of my baby is but their is still some doubt. I don't know the exact end date of my last period, but I do know that I was on my period on August 3rd 2012.
Avatar f tn GERD can aggravate asthma because stomach acid can reflux into the lungs and irritate them. This is especially true when you're lying down. Symbicort can cause increased acid in the stomach, which can be a problem if you already have severe GERD. This may be contributing to your increased breathing problems at night. Zantac and Prilosec might take a little time to work, and if the Symbicort is causing an increase in your stomach acid, it could be harder to control the GERD at night.
1580703 tn?1651904887 ve been prescribed prednisone for 1 month at 10mg/day and heard that it can be bad for the liver and cause adrenal damage. Is this true?
1580703 tn?1651904887 I do have low cortisol. the thing is my FEV1 is stuck at 73 for over a year on symbicort/singulair and I thought that 80% at least is the goal do I have COPD or asthma? isn't there a metacholine test or should I get a bronchoscopy?
1511949 tn?1290193751 my doctor has put me on nexium to dry up things, but i stopped taking it - just felt i didnt need it at the time. i may need to go back on the nexium or find out if the omnezaprole will work too.
Avatar m tn So while they do not have the same medications, the medication groups are the same. So id Advair was helping you, Symbicort should also help you. Please discuss with your doctor. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.
Avatar n tn The Symbicort keeps me awake at night when I take the 2x spray/2x a day. The doctor mentioned I need to use Symbicort for a few weeks consistently before seeing the results. Do I really have asthma if I don't really notice a difference using Albuteral? Should I reduce the dose of the Symbicort to 1 spray 2x a day? Are there other reasons why my peak flow would be so low? I will be calling my doctor about this tomorrow, but I would love a second opinion. Thank you.
Avatar n tn My questions are, How serious is this side effect, Should I continue using the Spiriva, Continue the Spiriva but stop the Symbicort, or Drop both and just take Combivent which I currently use as my emergency inhaler? Are there other alternative that I and my doc should consider.
Avatar n tn COPD is the umbrella term that includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema. The symbicort is good for reducing the inflammation (therefore narrows the breathing tubes) in the lung pathways. It should help your bronchitis.
Avatar f tn Finally my doctor diagnosed pneumonia and put me on antibiotics, Avamys and Symbicort. Unfortunately, either the Symbicort or the Avamyst has given me a fungal infection in the throat (and beyond ... it seems to go down quite far). This was not too unexpected as Advair gives me horrible thrush that lasts for months. My question however is, if I stop taking the Symbicort and the Avamys will the thrush go away, or should I go see my doctor to get anti-fungal stuff (i.e. Nystatin)?
Avatar n tn I am wondering if his sore throat is caused by the Symbicort and what can I do for it, I am giving him throat lozenges and pop sickles. This has been going on for about 4 days now and he has been on the Symbicort since July 7th.
Avatar f tn I am starting to think maybe I should get off of Singulair because lately I have had what feels like an infection and my ear canals feel irritated with major sinus headaches all the time. Symbicort I think is causing throat issues. I have yet to catch another cold since the first one which gave me asthma. I really hope it clears up fast and don't end up completely out of breath like I was last time. Infections are more common for asthmatics because the medications weaken the immune system.
