My tonsils are a little swollen and a little sore, with some minor white flecks. The glands on the side of my next are just slightly swollen, but not really sore. Also, I've been somewhat congested lately, but I have no other symptoms of illness/cold/allergies. I'm pretty sure this is directly related to the stressful situation I've been in, so basically I'm just trying to figure out what treatment I should seek. I've been gargling and wiping down the tonsils. Do I need an antibiotic?
(Valtrex, May of Helped, But dosent always, CMV is usually mild in Immunnocompetent Individuals. Don't dwell on that) For Closure, I would really like an answer on these spots and gland swellings....Seems I'm not going to find out.
Two and a half weeks ago, I had unprotected vaginal and oral sex with a new guy I'm dating. Two days after our encounter, I woke up with a red, itchy throat, swollen tonsils and a white coating on my tongue. I also had all of the symptoms of a yeast infection. I went to my doctor to have all of the STD tests run and am awaiting the results. I also was given treatment for oral thrush and vaginal yeast.
none of these things are really that sore they are uncomfortable they feel like a kind of electric shock pins and needles feeling like an ache for maybe 5 seconds. i still have my swollen tonsils but none of my lymph nodes are swollen. i dont think i have a fever reason i see that is because i dont have a thermometer in my house and don't know how ot teset for a fever otherwise. i have a doctors app on friday but would just like to know what anyone thinks i may have .
I started getting white spots on my throat, swollen glands, and a bright red throat. I just assumed i had a sore throat and head ache, but then i started getting really flemmy, my ears starter hurting, and i have neck aches. do you have an idea of whats wrong with me?
Hello. I have white patches at the back of my throat I guess on my tonsils. No other problems. They are just there and a little bit of discomfort that I barely notice. This is not the first time though. I have this alot. Sometimes I just look in my mouth in the mirror and they are there. I have gone to my doctor and they just put me on meds but it came right back. One time I went to the ER and they said "we are going to treat it like Strep". Any advice?
not on the tonsils. My glands are not swollen. No fever. She said it was a piece of food lodged? I looked today and there are about 3 very, very small little white spots not too far from the pus pocket (which has been there 2 weeks). I also feel a bump on the top of the roof of my mouth. She really didn't have any suggestions except to rinse with salt water. Should I see another Dr.? Is there such a thing as food lodging and looking like a pus pocket? How can I get rid of it?
also had swollen nodes in left knee area and elbow area and under arm pits. went back to doctor who examined throat and found white pus spots on tonsils and throat area for which penecilin was pescribed and this did clear up but random swelling and pain has since developed all over my body in the sites where my lymph nodes and glands are present. it is now july and after an mri scan the hospital doctor has said that it showed that my lymph glands and nodes were unusually large.
I went to the Doc's last week (Mon) and after looking at my symptoms (white spots on tonsils, chills swollen glands) he diagnosed strep and prescribed penicillin, no test. The spots went away and I felt better after a few days but it's now the following Wed and my throat is still sore and it appears as if there is a blister on one tonsil. Should I go back to the Docs?
And since then, I've had swollen glands around my collarbone, in and around my armpits, and around my groin. Its on both sides of my body, and some of the nodes are quite large. Anytime I notice a new one, its because its quite tender to the touch, and sometimes even general movement (especially in the armpit). I haven't gone to a doctor because I don't have health insurance and couldn't possibly afford to get any major tests done. I haven't had any recent infections.
I ended up going to my doctor's. She tested me and everything came back normal, so there was no real explanation for the swollen glands. In hindsight, however, I was a college student and I did drink rather frequently and quite a lot (most college students do without realizing that). I was also under a lot of stress and some emotional problems that I was not very aware of. I really do think that the stress and alcohol combined was the cause of these swollen glands.
My throat was extremely sore, with swollen tonsils and glands, and for about 3-4 days I had 3 white blotches on my right tonsil. Its now almost 3 months later, and my tonsils/glands have remained swollen, but do not hurt. I went to the dr, and he put me on penicillian, but they've only unswelled a little. I also have terrible allergies, especially this time of year, which could be a reason they're swollen. 1. Is it possible that i had gotten herpes (the white spots) in my mouth? 2.
Also, there are several lumps.. I forgot to mention there are white spots on my tonsils and I have had swollen glands in my neck/ behind ears for 2 months now. So, do you not think this mono? Does this sound more serious? I dont have insurance, thats why im online asking questions about my heath.
2 days later, March 22, 2008 I developed a throat infection which consisted of swollen tonsils with white matter covered all over the tonsils. On March 26, 2008 I went to the doctor (in NYC as I was on a business trip) and the doc took a throat swab (still waiting for results - dont know why its taking so long). I came back home on friday and went to my home doctor Saturday March 29 where he also took a swab (still waiting for results on that as well).

but the glands in my throat have been swollen (pea sized) for about 3 months now, the back of my throat very red and tonsils seem enlarged . 4 weeks after I had white spots on my tonsils, low grade fever 99.5- 100.4 it was off and on. alittle chills no much, sore throat and cough. negitve strep and mono test . this just sucks.
The throat often appears red, swollen, or puffy, and may have white spots of purulent exudate (pus). The lymph nodes in the neck often become swollen and tender. However, if you do not have symptoms at all, try to observe and gargle with warm saline solution. If it persists, have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
Infection can cause your glands to swell up bad, and when glands are swollen in your neck, it often causes pain when you move your neck or touch the gland with your fingers. Yup I agree with Evie, check your throat for little white spots... if you have tonsils the spots will be on them or if not, they will be on the back of your throat. Get better soon!
This is my 6 post I wrote I dont think I explained enough, I cut my foot on glass and it bled for about 5 mins, 2-4 hours later I think I walked in blood that was in my house from a self cutter - a few weeks later I get white spots on tonsils and red spots on roof of my mouth and went away in 2 days - but had a sore throat for about a month and is now gone - but I think I have swollen salivary glands - and buring in my feet - and pain below my hipbone -my whole neck hurts (How big is my
Then I had swollen glands for a week then had a sore throat and slight headache. I noticed I had white spots on my tonsils so took amoxicillian that I never used from the doctor this past summer. It went away the next day. I am thinking this may have been strep. I had a PCR DNA HIV test on 11/15 and the result was negative. I then a followup PCR on 12/04 and the result was negative. I finally went to the Doctor to do HIV antibody blood test on 12/27 and the result was negative.

However, about three days ago my tonsils also swelled up and I have developed are amounts of white discharge/spots on them. I went back to the doctor today and was given a rapid strep test (negative) and prescribed what I was told is a stronger antibiotic (Levaquin 500mg). I have already taken my first dosage, but am wondering if my illness may not be STD related, or if chances are it's most likely related to my congestion and cold.
The throat is reddened, the tonsils are swollen and may be coated or have white spots on them. There may be high temperature and swollen lymph glands under the jaw and in the neck. These symptoms could also be due to an injury or due to tonsilloliths, also known as tonsil stones which are clusters of calcified material that form in the crevices of the tonsils. Only a consultation with your primary care physician can help diagnose. In the meantime try salt water gargles.
A month after that, I got sick with almost the exact same thing except it was a bit worse. I had a swollen sore throat w/white spots, swollen glands, nausea (I did throw up this time) and a tad bit of a fever. My doctor did yet another throat culture.. came back fine. and he put me on a different antibiotic. which worked fine..... but now, I'm kind of afraid. I feel fine now but I read you don't get symptoms til later down the line. I don't know.
It really seems to act up when my mind runs on the situation. So this possibly could be an anxiety issue. I am going to have my blood pressure checked thou, you should probably too. I will check my pulse too when its not happening and check when it starts.
This is my second post the first one I wrote I dont think I explained enough, I cut my foot on glass and it bled for about 5 mins, 2-4 hours later I think I walked in blood that was in my house from a self cutter - a few weeks later I get white spots on tonsils and red spots on roof of my mouth and went away in 2 days - but had a sore throat for about a month and is now gone - but I think I have swollen salivary glands - and buring in my feet - and pain below my hipbone (How big is my risk my
There are some white spots on tonsils but can be wiped off with a Q-tip. Other than the sore throat, I have no symptoms. I have a few questions. 1) First, what are the odds of catching a cold sore when she did not have one present at the time? I know there can be asymptomatic shedding but still what is the likelihood? 2) Can a sore throat be the only symptom? 3) If this throat infection were indeed herpes, would I be able to wipe the spots away with a Q-tip? Please help. Very worried.
