Which is better zocor or crestor

Common Questions and Answers about Which is better zocor or crestor

zocor

Avatar n tn My understanding is that the statins with the greatest LDL reducing effect are Crestor, Lipitor, Zocor, and Pravachol, in that order. I don’t mention Leschol and Mevacor since they appear to be rarely used since recently due to the aforementioned being more powerful. Do we have any available solid data on the effects of the various individual statins other than LDL reduction? For example, do we know which ones raise HDL the most? What about effects on particle size or Lp(a), etc.
Avatar f tn The free clinic I go has switched me from Crestor to Lipitor even though my LDL is very high. It's a thorn in my side and won't budge even with Crestor. The cardiologist was even talking about adding another medicine to fight it. When I mentioned this to the clinic they told me every couple of years they switch drugs. So basically they can't afford to care about exceptions.
Avatar n tn Last thing you want to take is a statin drug like Crestor or Lipitor which have known to cause serious, serious muscle problems and have even been linked to ALS aka Lou Gherig's Disease which will kill you in about 2-3 years due to paralysis! Beware! Not everything that the doctors say are safe truly are. Just listen to the disclaimer in Lipitor commercials. It is unbelievable that the general population are unaware of the dangers of cholesterol lowering drugs!

Avatar n tn I started and took crestor for a while. This is right around the same time my afib started. I wonder if that is why I was getting it? Now I am getting because of Paricardial Effusion hopefully it will just go away! I cannot stand afib!!!!
Avatar n tn Fat-soluble statins like Lipitor and Zocor cause more damage than water soluble statins like Pravachol and Crestor. Hence the latter should be tried at lower dose. Possibility of hypothyroidism and diabetes should be ruled out as the presence of either disease can complicate the muscle pain. Please discuss these points with your treating physician. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted.
Avatar f tn Not that new; I've been on it for almost a year with good results and no problems. But my best lipid results ( raising HDL, lowering LDL and Lp(a) ) came from taking RX Niacin which I take with the 10 mg Crestor and 325 mg aspirin at bedtime. No problems with Niacin either.I take RX fish oil also as I am in big time prevention mode due to cardiac microvascular dysfunction.
Avatar f tn Fenofibrates in my experience do have side effects especially if prescribed together with Statins ( Lipitor, Crestor, Zocor are some of the brand name statins). Check drugs.com for drug side effects and interactions.
907968 tn?1292622204 but that's another point, you say go with what is proven. Which is proven and which is truth? when several studies conclude different things, how do you possibly know which is proven? they can't all be correct. If you designed an electric car and gave 10 to each of 2 research companies to test them and publish the results. One said all 10 cars broke down and were a waste of money, the other said they were fantastic, which would the public believe, or be expected to believe?
Avatar m tn Hello Chris, You didn't mention your height or weight which could well be factors. If you are overweight the strenuousness of intermittent physical activity like cutting the grass or digging in the garden could cause temporary shortness of breath or even dizziness. If either occur but pass quickly this is more or less normal for patients on beta blockers or other blood pressure medication.
Avatar n tn Glempiride (for diabetes) can give dizzness or light headness; Crestor is to control cholesterol, have more offen side effects but doses of 10 mg are the lowest , and side effects can be abdominal pain (not chest). So is better to talk to the doctor about this side effects. She is very well medicated but allergic reactions can happen. TALK TO TE DOCTOR is all I can tell.
Avatar f tn t read anything that says the Zocor was responsible, just conjecture that it may be based on some Internet research. Zocor which is merely simvastatin is very safe and the incidence of side effects very low, but some will be affected differently than others.
Avatar f tn The only FDA approved drug that has had clinical trails is Crestor. It is a statin drug so you have to watch for muscle pain , fatigue with it. If you get any tell you doctor right away. Have they done a full lipid panel on you too? Diet only lowers your cholesterol by about 10%. So, it helps to not eat any extra cholestrol as your liver is what genetically controls the amount of receptors you are born with that break down cholesterol.
Avatar f tn We thought our doctors would not be happy, but they were all for it. I had pain in both my arms which is now gone, and my husband can walk pain free again. In my research I read that half the people who have heart attacks do not have high cholesterol. Plus, statins deplete our bodies of Coenzyme 10 which the heart uses an abundance of. They have found that people who live to be 90 and older have high levels of this.
446474 tn?1446347682 The agency singled out atorvastatin (Lipitor), rosuvastatin (Crestor), and simvastatin (Zocor) for the new warnings and restated a warning about mixing lovastatin (Mevacor) with HIV and HCV drugs. Today's FDA safety communication follows label changes announced Tuesday that added cautions about new onset diabetes and transient memory problems for users of any of the cholesterol-lowering drugs in the statin class.
