Avatar m tn Dr. W. I'm sure you've heard the phrase "fat and happy." Well, it's not just folklore. The same carbs that make you fat (and contribute to diabetes and other problems) also make you happy. It's simple science: Carbs allow more of the amino acid L-tryptophan to penetrate your brain. The L-tryptophan triggers your brain to make more serotonin, and the serotonin makes you feel happier. It's as simple as that!

The only thing missing is organic or not and whether it is cold processed. I have tried this before without any issues, but didn't see any benefits either for 3 months. Avatar n tn I am also afraid of the Hight Protein, High Amino Acids Whey Powders so I was wondering if there is a diet or medicine or something I can ask my doctor for. He doesnt seem to be very attentive to my weight problem. In fact,he always advocates being thin so as to not to tax my liver, but I am now beyond thin... I don't know if I will be able to survive an illness being THIS thin.
Avatar n tn As a result of my hypothyroidism, I have developed and eating disorder over the years which I am finally working on. A friend of mine with hypo told me to STOP drinking them, and considering I am on new medication (Armour-2 grains) and gaining weight with recurring hypo symptoms (please, do not tell me to eat less, I am eating under 1300 calories a day), she may be right.
