Avatar m tn I have the same insomnia issue for ALL milk products, including whey, casein, milk, cream, ice cream, yogurt, and cheese. The more I eat of these, the less sleep I get. People need to start facing the fact that everyone's body chemistry is different, and different substances have various effects. You simply must experiment with what you are eating to discover what is causing a problem. It took me over a year to discover that my insomnia was caused by milk products.
5606554 tn?1372445380 I used to buy frozen berries, add ice cream and milk and some whey protein powder..... Made good smoothies. What Are Protein Powders? Protein powders come in various forms. The three common ones are whey, soy, and casein protein. “Whey is the most commonly used, because it’s a water-soluble milk protein,” says Peter Horvath, PhD, associate professor in the department of exercise and nutrition sciences at the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Avatar n tn Powdered milk is cheaper then whey protein powder and they are the same, however, you only get extra protein not calories. If he will drink milk with Ovaltine in it, then give it to him with the Ovaltine. It is better then not drinking it at all. Would you please state his weight and height so I can assess his nutrition status and give you more suggestions? Thank you.

Avatar n tn As a result of my hypothyroidism, I have developed and eating disorder over the years which I am finally working on. My nutritionist, who I do like, wants me to drink whey protein shakes (1 per day) to get my protein levels up. A friend of mine with hypo told me to STOP drinking them, and considering I am on new medication (Armour-2 grains) and gaining weight with recurring hypo symptoms (please, do not tell me to eat less, I am eating under 1300 calories a day), she may be right.
1464587 tn?1307491605 What do you recommend more to avoid inflammation and flare ups, whey protein or vegan protein supplements? Are protein supplements safe to take while on prednisone and hidroxocloroquine? I feel because of my cut I'm losing more muscle than I want beacuse I don't take any protein supplements, only food rich with protein.
Avatar f tn I added whey protein to the mix today and now my heartburn is back. Whey is supposed to be super easy to digest. Has anyone else had problems with whey protein?

Avatar m tn Whey protein contains the amino acid cysteine that helps convert glutathione in the body. Glutathione is a potent antioxidant that prepares cells for battle against bacterial or viral infections. (Note: Since this comes from a cow, it may not be suitable for vegans.
Avatar m tn From what I have read so far, they suggest whey protein isolate over whey protein concentrate. They say isolate has more protein but from natural factors website, it's suggested that isolate are treated with heat and are somewhat denatured. NaturalFactros also say this is why isolate is poor quality than whey protein concentrate. Now both contradict one another. But I believe concentrate is better since it is treated with less heat and other chemical process etc. What do you think?
Avatar f tn I would ask your Dr before using whey or casein protein powder... I'm sure it wouldn't do any harm every once in a while but it'd be best to check with them first.
