protein

Avatar f tn Yea I'd try to avoid the protein powder and get the protein I need from the food I eat. I'm a vegetarian so I get my protein from tofu and other foods made from soy, beans, nuts, and dairy products. You don't know all the ingredients in the protein powder so I'd ask my doctor about it.
Avatar n tn Whey protein will not affect your thyroid function. It comes from cows milk and is a by-product of the cheese making process. Soy would be a problem, that is too much soy.
1464587 tn?1307491605 What do you recommend more to avoid inflammation and flare ups, whey protein or vegan protein supplements? Are protein supplements safe to take while on prednisone and hidroxocloroquine? I feel because of my cut I'm losing more muscle than I want beacuse I don't take any protein supplements, only food rich with protein.
Avatar m tn From what I have read so far, they suggest whey protein isolate over whey protein concentrate. They say isolate has more protein but from natural factors website, it's suggested that isolate are treated with heat and are somewhat denatured. NaturalFactros also say this is why isolate is poor quality than whey protein concentrate. Now both contradict one another. But I believe concentrate is better since it is treated with less heat and other chemical process etc. What do you think?
Avatar m tn For post-workout nutrition it gets a little trickier because the mixture depends on your goals. The post-workout shake is made from skim milk, whey protein. Use one cup of skim milk and a full scoop of whey protein. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Hi, I need help to choose good protein powder. I don't get enough protein from my food. I'm exercising 4-5 times a week at least one hour in the gym ( some days classes and some days cardio). My friend recommended to buy protein powder to build muscles and lose more weight. I have been reading a lot that 100% and most natural whey powder is really good but there are so many different ones and I don't know what to choose. Can you help me please?
Avatar m tn Egg protein has about the same quality profile of Whey, however it is a moderate absorbing protein that the body uses over a greater amount of time. Casein protein is another dairy protein like Whey, however it is very thick and sticky and your body has a hard time breaking it down, which not only acts as a great anti-catabolic (prevents muscle breakdown) but also gives your body a good 6-8 hour slow but steady flow of protein.
Avatar f tn Red meat makes HE worse and I get my protein from whey added to sugar-free carnation instant breakfast and I eat poached eggs and toast for lunch and a salad with turkey and cheese with an egg usually in the evening. For snacks I still eat the whey which Is unflavored and I can add it to anything. They wanted me to get it from plant based products, fish, chicken and turkey, cheese and eggs. I was a mess and they threatened me with a feeding tube.

Avatar m tn Hi The effect of whey protein on mice has been studied but the effect of whey protein on the human body is still under study. However the actual effect this protein, used as a commercial substitute, can only be known when clinical trials on human beings are successful.

971283 tn?1247767572 finger joints started hurting and now more fingers are affected. I started dieting ... low carbs, low sugar, mostly veggies but use whey protein bars AND whey protein powder for my high protein diet. I find that I am putting on weight and the pain in the finger joints is quite bad right now. What did you do to reverse this ? Should I just stop this protein intake ?
Avatar m tn To answer your questions, you can eat regular food to get the protein you need without using the supplements. Eggs and milkshakes (with skim milk) give you additional protein as the same as the protein shakes. The recommended dosage of protein is 1g per kg of weight. Body builders state that you need to build muscle that is why you need the protein. You will need a little extra but not double your weight. Too much consummation of protein and if the body does not use it, it will store it as fat.
Avatar n tn There is a difference between supplementing with tryptophan and the natural tryptophan that occurs in food. If the protein supplement you're taking is just whey and nothing else, then you have no problem. If it's added tryptophan, then it's not okay. Tryptophan is the amino acid that builds serotonin in the body, although it's not easy getting it to the brain.
