Avatar f tn I had a total thyroid removal in September 2011. It is April 2012 and I 'still' have numbness and tenderness on the right side of mny neck and chin. I went to an ENT specialist and all she seemed to be concerned about was the hoarseness of my voice....put a probe through my nose and said she saw acid on my vocal cords....?!?!??. i said I never have heartburn ... she put me on (Prevacid) Omeprazole DR (2 20mg 30 minutes before supper).
Avatar n tn It has to be an interplay of female hormones and thyroid. She has a new lump in her neck; she started to see docs about it 2 1/2 years ago, but then my sister died unexpectedly, my mother got sick s died in June, & my best friend of 50 years died on 4/1 after a short battle with leukemia. Now I'm battling to get her to deal with her health issues. And it is a battle. She just had a certvcal cancer scare; a thickening cervix AND abnormal pap.
Avatar m tn I have a 5mm herniation that showed up on an MRI but because I have headaches mostly only on just the left side of my head (unless it is a really bad day) he thinks it is just a problem with a nerve. He says that Chiari is pain on both sides of the head not just one side. Is this true? Do any of you have have headaches on just one side mostly or is it always your whole head that hurts?
Avatar f tn s or a thyroid issue, where do you feel it? Do you only feel pressure down low in your throat (where a t-shirt would touch)? Or do you feel pressure around the middle of your neck or under your chin? Do you ever feel chin numbness? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Thyroid,i guarantee it.When min started it felt like a chip was stuckin my throat every time i swallowed any liquids. It hurt really bad.Ive been on synthroid for 2 years and havent felt any pain since.Get your thyroid checked.
219609 tn?1210348114 1 last time and said there was no Parathyroid issues,Im asuming that I do have some thyroid left in there since my parathyroids were not moved during operation,, but my kidney stone issue is beyond my Urologist idea, water pills are bring my blood pressure down tp low 108/80 it used to be really high till my TSH came down as did the pressure, but still getting palulations at night..
Avatar n tn If this nodule is originated from thyroid and not a lymph node it should be biopsied according to the criteria. The ultrasound of the thyroid and near-by area is better then MRI scan to find if nodule is thyroid related. As aside note one patient with full neck was almost choked by inexperienced physician; latter ultrasound revealed that her thyroid was partly substernal due to anatomical variation and palpation was useless in this case.
Avatar f tn I am awaiting thyroid tests, but the doc does think I have a goiter judging by the bulge in my neck. I was just wondering if anyone else out there has goiter and parathyroid problems or if my goiter is causing my PTH and calcium to rise.
455126 tn?1212432198 If you can get in sooner with the ENT, like him, and know that thyroid surgery is not unfamiliar to him, then go for it! There's no reason the same surgeon has to do both surgeries. My initial TT and my recent recurrence were both done by ENT surgeons.
Avatar n tn In most cases, a lump that moves is better news than a hard, stationary lump. However, it wouldn't hurt to have an ultrasound just to be sure, so ask your doctor to order one. If he refuses, ask him to refer you to someone else. Good luck to you!
673012 tn?1225915011 Having the thyroid removed will make you feel much better in these issues. It really is an individual thing regarding the voice change. I still can't hit the high notes in Billy Joel's Innocent Man after nearly 11 months! But at least I can breathe without taking huge gulps of air and sounding like an emphysema patient! Personally I'd rather be without all the horrendous symptoms than have a perfect singing voice.
393685 tn?1425812522 t know if this is respected in the medical community but what I have found is most docs preach only what they were schooled on. We need to show doctors solid proof. We cant just say we read this or that on the 'net. I get fed up with my doc repeatedly saying, "there is NO MEDICAL PROOF that T3 works for some people - a lot is in there head" - pure insults!!
694885 tn?1232649948 I did not even know I had any problem prior to my biopsy, meaning , that I never felt anything in my neck nor did I see them. After the biopsy I knew where they were because they hurt, but I thought that this would go away after a few weeks. Now two months later I am starting to think that doing the biopsy was a bad thing because it only woke up the little guys (nodules) or pissed them off (smile) because they seem to be growing now and causing different symptoms.
822804 tn?1298226302 So, I suggest that you should get tested to confirm that your Free T3 is in the low end of its range, as I expect, If your Free T3 is in the lower end of its range, that is consistent with being hypothyroid for many people. A good thyroid doctor will treat a hypo patient clinically by testing and adjusting Free T3 and Free T4 as necessary to relieve symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH levels.
Avatar f tn when should you worry about a enlarged lymphnode in your neck? with a scratch in the eye but also a history of breast cancer.
1156914 tn?1300571629 Sometimes it can be a pulsatile tinnitus where you hear your own pulse. The most common cause of pulsatile tinnitus is noisy blood flow as blood pushes through plaques or kinks in the arteries in the head or neck. It can be made worse if there is also hypertension. Several types of fistulas in the blood vessels of head and neck, especially the carotid artery or jugular vein can also cause this. Increased blood flow as seen in anemia and hyperthyroid state can also cause pulsatile tinnitus.
570004 tn?1226980196 OK, so I realize that this is probably a stupid question, but I find the answer nowhere, so... How big is your thyroid supposed to be? Or, put another way, where is it in your neck relative to, e.g., your chin, your larynx, etc.? I have been having a lot of swelling, but I really don't know what is lymph nodes and what might be my actual thyroid. Thanks!
398849 tn?1210135972 Blanchard suggests that environmental toxins may inhibit production of thyroid hormone, noting that dental x-rays (where the thyroid is improperly shielded) and toxic chemicals are possible culprits. Also, age itself can be a factor, he says: "As our metabolic and immune systems slow down, we're more prone to infection and immune disease, both of which can manifest as hypothyroidism." Unquote...
Avatar n tn For those of you that have had your thyroid removed, how does the scar feel? I am 3 months past TT and it doesn't bother me really but when I am putting vitamin e on it before bed it tends to be a bit tender. If i apply a little pressure to it directly it seems a bit sensitive. If my husband is rubbing my shoulders and rubs a bit too hard near my neck it makes me jump - I am dying to go have my massage at the spa that he gave me for Christmas but want to wait so I can truly enjoy it.
