When will lexapro side effects go away

Common Questions and Answers about When will lexapro side effects go away

lexapro

Avatar f tn Hey again... okay, actually... I just checked the prescribing information of Lexapro and apparently it is actually not a good idea to take any sort of NSAID at the same time as Lexapro... so, if you're taking ibuprofen it is probably a good idea to not mix the lexapro and ibuprofen and I wouldn't suggest getting a prescription NSAID after all. Usually the prescribing information says something about when side-effects tend to go away... but, I couldn't find it. But...
1295419 tn?1276822872 I too have noticed a pretty high increase in blood pressure with the increased dosage from 10 to 20 mg. Unusual for me, but it's the only thing I can attribute it to. I am also really like the benefits of Lexapro, and would hate to switch......again. I am checking with my GP and Psychiatrist today just to make sure. I'd watch it, take it again (or buy a cuff) and let your doctor know if you don't see a change.
Avatar n tn once the medication is our of your system the side effects will have gone away, what you are experiencing is most likely due to another medical condition or a symptom of depression/anxiety/etc whatever the reason you were taking the lexapro for, if it was for depression, a common symptom of depression is weight gain/weight loss. i was on zoloft for a bit and ballooned from 140 to 160 in about 2 months, i came off it eventually and lost the weight, but i also wasnt 'depressed'.
Avatar f tn s thru the years (at different times for each), and some were a breeze to start, others had some pretty awful side effects. The good news is...those side effects started improving for me usually by the 2nd week, and once they started getting better, they went away pretty quickly. Hang in there...keep the line of communication open with your doc and of course, we're here for you too!
Avatar m tn Since radiation and chemo for anal cancer, I have 0 toleration for Effexor, Zoloft, Prozac, Lexapro, etc. Several were ok when tried years ago...now extreme side effects, which make them unsuitable. Everyone is different, so hope you will give meds a try. I have never taken Ativan...but many here do. I was switched from Xanax to Klonopin many yrs ago...and it is still what I take...not ideal...but a base. Hope it helps to know what you are experiencing is normal for people with anxiety.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am too experiences horrific effects from coming off 20mg Lexapro. But I can't take all the side effects anymore. I wish I knew what to do to stop the vertigo/dizziness but the only thing I can find on internet (but havent' tried yet) is a motion sickness tablet that contains a vestibular suppressant. Only thing I wanted to mention is that a friend/nutritionist has suggested I take SamE as an alternative to the Lexapro.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately after 12 plus years on Zoloft it pooped out on me a year ago... But once again it will take time for the side effects to go away stay positive!!
677061 tn?1226275988 When it comes to side effects which is more benign as far as cardiac function concerns?
Avatar n tn Getting ready to start Lexapro and I want to know the side effects you have experienced? I have been on Wellbutrion and Cymbalta and both were not for me. Made my anxiety worse. I lost weight on both but wanted to know the weight issue with Lexapro since there seems to be one. Thanks for the help.
Avatar m tn I took one Lexapro a month ago. Severe symptoms, couldn't eat or sleep for 4 days, terrible depression, anxiety hundreds of times worse than what I took the 10mg pill for. Obsessing about suicide. Doctor says side effects don't last that long. Still having trouble sleeping, eating, I don't know if I'm going to get through this. Does it ever go away? Where can I go? Who knows anything?
Avatar f tn I only take it in the morning when I wake up due to severe anxiety upon waking at 5am everyday, and then when I go to bed at night. I'm looking forward to better days myself. What mg are you taking? I started on 5mg, then tried 10mg, but it was way too much, so I am now on day 4 of 7.5mg, and am still very jittery, but making myself try to get out of the house at least once a day for an hour instead of sitting inside and obsessing (over my health and death), which leads to more anxiety.
Avatar n tn However the tremors are still there as well as extreme sweating, and muscle tightness. (I have been on this dose for approximately 2 weeks.
Avatar m tn Our dose differs from what others might need, so it takes some time for some of us to learn if a drug is going to work or not or if start-up side effects will go away or stick around. I think this is more important for you to think about with your doc than serotonin syndrome, which even when docs do everything wrong isn't common.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have very very reluctantly gone on a low dose of Paxil 5mg per day due to anxiety, panic and agoraphobia. I made this decision after trying 'everything' natural and nothing really making enough difference, the years are going by and I'm geting used to this 'small' world, well had to do something. I tried Lexapro 2 years agao for 3 days and was very very ill from it. So now the Paxil is making me have a lump in my throat...will this go away?
Avatar m tn Healthcare providers can adjust the dosage to meet the specific needs of each patient. Easy to Use: Lexapro is typically taken as a simple daily pill, making it convenient for users. Supportive Therapy: It can be a valuable component of a holistic treatment plan that may include therapy and lifestyle changes. 709686 tn?1277432159 I have terrible constipation, lower abdominal pain, my chest gets really tight and I experience severe muscle cramps in my neck, shoulder and back. When I called my doctor he told me these were not common side effects of Lexapro and to continue taking the med. When I asked him if these will go away he said he could not be sure. I became very angry with him. Oh well....guess I will discontinue the Lexapro and try Zoloft.
135456 tn?1301437624 So to answer your question i was on 5mg and it helped fine, but the side effects do go away, and the other comment is true about your body getting used to everything in a 4-6 week span.
Avatar f tn yes there are some annoying side effects when you first start but they will go away within 2 weeks or so.....taking klonopin with it will reduce the startup side effects big time....talk to your Dr about it....
