My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?

I think after this month, that will be 3 months on losartin(cozaar), I will see how my blood work is then add vasotec to the cozaar wait 3 months check my blood work and make a decision on dropping cozaar for vasotec. Cozaar is a medication used for high blood pressure. Amiloretic is a diuretic. Your doctor prescribed these to you for a reason and you should not stop taking either of these medications unless your doctor directs you to. The reason why your feet ankles are now swollen is because you have stopped taking the Amiloretic. And the reason for your headaches is because you have stopped taking the Cozaar. The headaches are likely to be because your blood pressure is now too high again.

Sorry, the Walgreen brand is not Cozaar (that is the alias for Losartan). It might be Merck. In any case, I have canceled my Apotex order and going to order from Walgreens again as an experiment.

This drug is still available as a generic, it looks like the price of the drug has increased due to higher cost for Walgreens to purchase it. I'm afraid the other drugs available for BPH will probably be as or more expensive than Doxazosin, but I would check with your local Walgreens pharmacist for more price options.
