When to stop lovenox in pregnancy

Common Questions and Answers about When to stop lovenox in pregnancy

lovenox

Avatar f tn I didn't know there were other moms like me, in the sense of having to take the lovenox shots. I just thought it wasn't very common. Well I'm 18 wks this is my third but the first pregnancy I've had to use blood thinner due to clots in my lungs and my leg calf. However, Dr hasn't planned for delivery yet. He did mention it was just as a precaution and if nothing developed thru the pregnancy my delivery could be as my other two.
1524811 tn?1333241301 When I inject the needle, I slowly do my shot. I inject a little Lovenox at a time. I usually count to 5, squeeze a little in, count to 5, squeeze a little more...and repeat until all is injected. I place the ice pack on for about as long as I had it on to begin with. It gets a little harder to inject this in with a baby in your evergrowing belly. I tilt to one side so I can get a better angle and pinch the skin.
Avatar n tn Lovenox safety in pregnancy is a question that is best answered by your obstetrician or by a high risk maternal fetal medicine subspecialist. I personally do not believe the low positive cardiolipin titers were related to infertility; the relationship is with recurrent pregnancy loss. I too respect your RE' reasoning for initiating lovenox, but would not have done so myself - a matter of opinion and my interpretation of the research and evidence available.
Avatar f tn Im on Lovenox due to the fact that I've had blood clots in both of my lungs in the past. Everything is great. Im currently using medicaid and I pay only $3 as a copay. I get 36 shots at a time so my supply lasts a lil over a month.
Avatar f tn As you get further along in pregnancy and the hCG level gets higher, the time it takes to double can increase to about every 96 hours. Caution must be used in making too much of hCG numbers. A normal pregnancy may have low hCG levels and result in a perfectly healthy baby. The results from an ultrasound after 5 - 6 weeks gestation are much more accurate than using hCG numbers.
Avatar n tn I am on Lovenox (Xaparin) since early in my pregnancy. Now my doctor wants to perform a c-section at week 37 without giving me much of a medical explanation. I feel strongly about a natural delivery. Does any one had a similar experience?
Avatar f tn m worried about what I was reading about epidural while taking lovenox, debates on when you should stop prior to surgery for pregnancy; possibly bleeding too much. That and I do not get numb underneath my skin so another c-section would be a bit uncomfortable since I passed out last time from all the pain and I like to be aware what is going on. That and if anything goes wrong I'd be passed out before I knew so....
Avatar n tn I was put on Lovenox and a baby aspirin 2 weeks prior to miscarrying. The Doctor seems to think that when we get pregnant again that I can get on Lovenox and baby aspirin when i'm 7 weeks pregnant and that the pregnancy will be a healthy succuessful one. I'm just wondering has anyone else had a successful pregnancy taking Lovenox? Just really nervous and have alot of questions now. Should I go ahead and take the baby aspirin now or wait? The Doctor says we can try again in October.
Avatar n tn we have 2 children and had no problems getting pregnant,etc..For some reason when I turned 30 I had three mc back to back..we were going to a fertility specialist and finally was able to get pregnant again the doc put me on lovenox, baby aspirin, and progesterone..looks like everything is going fine with this pregnancy..Im 9.3 weeks due Feb 21st.
1121273 tn?1325367975 OK, so after 3 miscarriages in the last year, I am a nervous wreck with this pregnancy. Just wondered if anyone knows what this could indicate: One week ago, I had a CBC with platelets done because I am on Lovenox. Everything looked good. Only thing was that my white blood cell count was 11.7. Now this made me nervous because I thought maybe it was an immune response causing the miscarriages....like my white blood cells were attacking the embryo.
178698 tn?1228774338 This is my second time with lovenox shots. The first was just to start the thinning process then I was able to take warfarin. They never diagnosed my first DVT, I was told it was a fluke. I'm now 13 weeks pregnant and have a second DVT. After testing I have Factor V Leiden and take 2x daily shots of 100mg lovenox. I already have had 3 natural pregnancies so this one surprised me.
873190 tn?1304812975 Of course, I will never know whether the reason this pregnancy continued was due to the Lovenox or just a conicidence...but I was not taking any chances this time, and I'm glad I didn't. Did they tell you what blood clotting disorder you tested positive for?
645220 tn?1233764146 I really had to push very hard for the needle to go in then it stopped about a third of the way and I had to jam it in the rest of the way. does this sound right? I have plenty of fat so it's not as if I got held up on muscle or anything. I'm hoping the needle might have been blunt because if not then along with the burning this is going to be pretty barbaric for the next 8 months Anyone have thoughts or tips for me?
1414636 tn?1288284680 I've used lovenox with my last pregnancy and with this pregnancy due to a blood clotting disorder. Lovenox is perfectly safe. does not cross the placenta but thins the blood just enough and very evenly to prevent blood clots. there are no side effects except maybe I bruised slightly easier.
Avatar f tn I'm 31 weeks tmrw. Been on lovenox since 16 weeks when they found a blood clot. I have to do twice a day till 37 weeks when they switch me to the low dose heparin. I also have to be induced at 39 weeks and then continue lovenox for 6 weeks after delivery.
Avatar f tn During the first few weeks of pregnancy has anyone experiecnced nosebleeds? I've been reading about it but never heard of this happening before I looked it up. It doesn't seem like a common symptom. I'm only about 7 weeks and this past week I've had a few nosebleeds, I've never had them before. I'm hoping it's normal and will stop soon. Any advice???
281219 tn?1219114914 Well I JUST picked up my Heparin Rx yesterday. I did hear about a recall eons ago (well eons in pregnancy speak) and it was certain batches but I hadn't heard that about Heparin now. Yikes...will need to investigate. Lovenox, from what I understand, is perfectly safe and fine and is a newer medicine than Heparin. The issue is that when you get closer to c-section time Lovenox can't be reversed whereas Heparin can.
Avatar f tn Sometimes the progesterone can extend your cycle, but if so, it usually starts when you stop the supplements. I would probably give it a couple more days, then call and ask your doctor if still no AF. (Don't you just "love" those lovenox shots? I was on them throughout my pregnancy...pain in the butt...
Avatar n tn Not me personally, but my sister-in-law had to be on lovanox shots the entire time during all of her pregnancies. She had issues with clotting; only when she was pregnant though, and was also higher risk due to age (between 36-40 years old for her pregnancies). She managed to have 2 successful pregnancies and only 1 miscarriage.
Avatar f tn My sis has 2 girls and then went on to have a molar pregnancy back in Oct and then had another m/c in April losing the baby at 11 weeks. Sure enough they tested her blood and she was positive. So she is now ttc and is on baby aspirin daily and she may have to go on heparin shots once daily once she gets a positive pregnancy test. She is very fertile so hopefully all she needs is to be on an anticoagulant to give her a successful pregancy. I will be sure to let her know of your post.
9137321 tn?1402710290 t wait on my doctor to call back I would go to the emergency room. I had spotting in my early pregnancy and everytime I would see blood I was at the emergency room. I even witch doctors because my doctor never called me back after I called inn about bleeding.
Avatar f tn ve also had surgery to place a little screen in my body to hopefully catch any blood clots from moving elsewhere in my body to my heart. Now that I'm pregnant I've been on Lovenox shots since week 12ish and I take a baby asprin with it to hopefully prevent any blood clots from forming. Though shots are not my favorite thing in the world, I'll do anything it takes to hopefully keep this baby safe.
Avatar n tn 1) Have you ever heard of lovenox injections to prevent further clots in stents and 2) what are the risks from lovenox to her relatively healthy kidneys (after 30+ yrs of diabetes)? Thank you for your good advice. You were the only Dr. who said E.R.
