when to discontinue aricept and namenda

my mum was diagnosed with alzaheimer in October 2008, she was prescriped dogmatile fort 200, aricept, trittico and lustral, I wonder if this combination goes well as she is more depessed since she took the medication.

my mom also took it and it made her worse we took her off of it, its only to last a year and help slow it down but i have talk to lots and they say same thing you are there was no difference , just the cost of the meds. sorry its so hard to watch our love one go down, but you will be blessed for being there and doing all your doing . I went to my PCP yesterday morning because my neurologist's office recommended I see her for a possible medication interaction causing my seizures... well, as you can guess, there is no medication interaction. My PCP, who's a nice intelligent grandma-type, thought this was an issue for the neurologist. I have tardive dyskinesia which is clinically similar to Parkinson's and I have tardive akathesia which is similar to restless legs syndrome but it would depend on the cause of it. If its clinically similar to Parkinson's, I did not find Bachlophen, Mirapex, Aricept and Requip to be of help but many people do. I was ruled out for Tetrabenzene and Namenda but those have shown to be of help.

they put me on aricept for a month when they tried to convince me I had alzheimers and they say I got REAL ugly, my primary at the time said she was not surprised, I never should have been on it! ha ha my neuro should have been!

Are these mood swings and memory issues somehow related or located in the same area of the brain? Would taking Namenda and Aricept together help? Is there any type of anti-depression/anti-anxiety medication that has been found to work better in patients with MS? I have been on Zoloft, Effexor, and Cymbalta, at the highest recommended doses and none of them seem to help after about 10 weeks. Thank you for your time.

He came back in and said they wanted to do more testing. I feels like I bombed the testing compared to last time. I told my neuro today all of my symptoms/issues & she looked very concerned. She did a mini neuro/cognitive eval and said this may be something more than MS. Now she has prescribed Namenda XR for me. I googled it and it says it's for Alzheimers. I do have family that have/had dementia/Alzheimers. Does anyone else with MS take this???

I'm just curious if anyone has been on Namenda and could tell me how long the initial brain fog lasted for you? I just started Namenda yesterday, 5 mg a day for 1 week then 10 mg a day in divided doses. I have memory issues and severe cognitive impairment. I was put on Namenda by a neurologist after a thorough examination. I expect the brain fog from starting Namenda up but am just trying to get a time frame for when I could expect the initial brain fog to wear off. Thanks everyone.

As for treating tardive, standard options include Bachofen, Aricept, Requip and Mirapex. More experimental options include Namenda, Tetrabenzene and Zofran. Vimpat has been helpful in me and will be written up in a case study but that's a clinical first literally. One natural remedy that if supervised by a neurologist can be markedly helpful is rhodiola. Botox shots for focal dystonia are helpful if it is limited to one area.

Hey, I took Aricept for five months to get over some cog fog. It was amazing, and kinda reassuring. I started with some samples, and noticed a difference immediately - I could follow directions, count change, remember conversations... Every time I ran out, I would wait a day or so and see if I noticed a difference. After five months, I reached a point where I felt normal without the Aricept - yay! I highly recommend it.

I have been taking aricept for about 9 months. It is hard to tell if there is an improvement. It has been a while since I forgot my way home but I still forget a lot of little stuff. I keep taking it because I am convinced it cant hurt anything and it just might help a little.

One question in my mind is whether he had a stroke which caused him to fall, or he fell and struck his head and sustained a concussion or bleed inside the brain which, in turn caused the dementia. t seem to save enough to get away from that. My employer has been cutting wages left and right to keep us all employed, which is great. But it also means that the near future doesn't promise any more money than what I have right now. Here's where the problem comes in. My neighbors doctor prescribed fluoxetine and namenda before MRI being done.test came back no signs of alzheimers disease. Should she continue to take ? She is 80 years old somewhat forgetful nothing to make you say you can't function she is 80.

you really just need to express your concerns to his health care taker and see what they say, if you want to see if they will take him off that med and see how he does if he gets better than you know it was the meds. plz keep in touch and let us know hows hes doing .
