296025 tn?1233256719 WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF PREVACID USE WITH HEP C? SINCE ITS EXPENSIVE IS THERE A GENERIC FORM?
Avatar f tn I am taking tagamet otc- Walmart generic brand and for me it is better than the rx ones- But that's just me....
Avatar n tn (1) Is the above true? (2) Are the side effects the same, and (3) What's the difference between the two. Thanks for your time.
Avatar n tn My GI explained to me because the H. Pylori bacteria was eradicated by antibiotics and Aciphex my stomach is now in a hyper acidic state and this is causing the water brash. Has anyone heard of this as a reason for water brash. I have read water brash is caused because of "minor" acid reflux. This means a small of acid backs up into the esophagus and the salivary glands as a defensive measure produces excess saliva and in some cases the sinuses produce mucos?
Avatar n tn All the tests came normal except they found H-Pilory infection and I took antibiotics and subsequent Stool test for H-Pilory showed negative. I am still having all the above discomforts which is going on for 5 months. I normally eat very healthy and I am following a strict diet since this problem started. My Gastorentologist asked me to continue to take Aciphex.
Avatar m tn While GERD could cause a few symptoms you describe it's unlikely it's causing the shaky, anxious, sweaty feelings. A reaction to meds can however including an allergic response that mimics panic attacks or heart problems. When you say that Prilosec didn't work out but you are on omeprazole? It's the same medicine--omeprazole is the generic. If Aciphex works and doesn't cause side effects, that might be a solution unless something else is going on.
Avatar f tn I have been belching almost nonstop for nearly two months and also have substernal pain which my doctor has diagnosed as GERD and started me on Aciphex. Unfortunately, the Aciphex does not seem to help at all and I have been taking antacids without much relief either. I have noticed on this forum that an H.pylori test might be indicated and I am going to suggest that to my doctor.
Avatar f tn The generic doesn't seem to work as well for a lot of people. My endo also feels the same way, that brand name is good and generic stay away from.
Avatar m tn I connect a straight line between the taking of aciphex and the development of GERD. Is this a reasonable conclusion? or is there some other more likely explanation?
Avatar f tn ve tried Prilosec, Nexium and Aciphex, all for extensive periods of time. My # 1 all-time fave is Nexium, and Aciphex is also very effective. Prilosec doesn't seem to work as well. Just my experience.
Avatar f tn well I am going to see my GI doc monday.. I have GERD and was taking AcipHex but had to stop when I found out I was pregnant.. so I am hoping it is just severe GERD related to that.. however, my lower back (flank, both sides) )is hurting more this morning, where the kidneys are.??? I am just wondering if the 2 can be related.. took pepto bismol last night and that seemed to help the stomach pain a little, but not completely... thanks for input!
906759 tn?1275957620 I dont feel anxious anymore but still have the pains. I usually dont have anypains when i am busy. Usually when i am less busy i have these. I can go out and pushmow the yard when its 100 degrees out and be totally pain free. But when i take a break and sit down within a while my pains will reapppear. I am currently on xanax and some BP meds. Seen a counselor a couple of weeks ago but do not get to see a real therapist until end of september.
Avatar n tn when I was first diagnosed with Barretts I was taking aciphex. Two years later when I went for a re-check endoscopy the gastrointerologist suggested that I go on nexium. He said he thought it worked better than aciphex. Well about 8 weeks into the nexium I was getting great pains, I thought my desease was getting worse. I went back to the Dr. and asked to be put back on the aciphex. I beleive those pains were a side effect of the nexium.
198506 tn?1251156915 Now I am having cramp like pain under my left rib cage which is relieved somewhat when I lie on my right side as opposed to my left. And the pain extends to my left flank. The pain gets very bad when I am standing for too long. Do you think this may be a side effect of the Aciphex? Thank you in advance for any insight you could provide.
Avatar m tn told no I am not fine, one area no concern, other area metaplasia, was I still taking the Aciphex. I have gone back on the Aciphex but am terrified after reading on websites that I did the wrong thing. Endoscopy only done originally because I had still unexplained/diagnosis following three days of diarrhea, cramping, dehydration. On antibiotiic, H pylori ruled out. History of GERD, hiatal hernia. Control symptoms with diet, OTC Gaviscon.
Avatar f tn pylori bacteria in the digestive tract. The irony is, if you have ulcers and take Aciphex alone, the Aciphex could make the symptoms worse. Clearly something changed after taking the antibiotics, and now your ally in heartburn control has become your enemy. It might be worth getting back to your physician on this one, since antibiotics can often be a "swinging door", killing some bacteria while making it easier for other bacteria to get through that otherwise wouldn't have.
Avatar f tn Also, just a more agressive treatment program might be necessary. Aciphex is a proton pump inhibitor. You can talk to your dr about adding an H2 blocker like Pepcid or ranitidine. There are also many natural measures you can take like probiotics, digestive enzymes, not eating food triggers (common ones are acidic foods, spicy, anything with caffeine in it), and raising the head of your bed 6 inches (pillows, foam wedge, or supports under the bed).

Avatar n tn i take zantac 150 now maybe itll work. idk... just wondering if anyone else feels this way or am i going crazy or is it something else. also i have lots of gas that seems to come and go from time to time. i hope im not the only one feeling like this.
Avatar n tn These days I tend to take whatever I have in my medicine cabinet (Aciphex or Prevacid) twice a day, max dosage, and occasionally a tagamet to help out. I have a hiatial hernia that is going to be fixed soon so I am hoping to get off the meds and that the side effects will eventually go away...I hope.
Avatar f tn I would like your opinion on if you thing that the Aciphex is still the best choice and if there is anything else I should be doing. I have gotten to the point that I'm very frustrated because it has been so long since I have felt really good.
Avatar n tn small intestine...large intestine. When I lie down....no burping occurs. My dr. put me on aciphex about a month ago thinking it was my acid reflux acting up as I was on Aciphex for one year...2 years ago for mild erosive esophagus and GERD...(I never got hertburn or anything....guess I'm the silent GERD). The aciphex has helped with the few episodes of stomach pain I was getting in the middle of the night but didn't help with the burping or bloating.
Avatar n tn Dear Mrsrobert, welcome to the medhelp forum. Aciphex or rabeprazole is proton pump inhibitor and tingling extremities can occur with prolonged use. You need to inform your doctor immediately if you have been taking this drug for a while and have suggestive signs of Vitamin B12 deficiency like sore tongue, excessive weakness, tingling and numbness in the extremities due to decreased gastrointestinal absorption.
Avatar n tn He might want to consider getting a colonoscopy. I lot of people think their pain is in their stomach when it is really in their intestines.
Avatar n tn Has anyone tried Zegerid? So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?).
Avatar m tn Been on prilosec, nexium aciphex, etc., ever since. My GP ordered an upper GI. All normal except MASSIVE GERD. He doubled my nexium to 2 a day. Also had a chest xray which was normal. He ordered abdominal blood work - all normal (gall bladder, liver, pancreas, etc) Still couldn't shake the intermittent nausea....Had an endoscopy - showed gerd, slight irritation of esophagus, small hiatal hernia and stomach blisters and nodules which were removed and benign.
Avatar n tn CalGal, thanks. You are probably right. I should not have stopped Acihpex. My GI doc was uncooperative when I told him about the water bash(it's like my mouth is always full of bubbly saliva). The GI said "I don't know why your are hypersalivating". I probably didn't word the question properly. I have started on Prilosec again with the Bendaryl. Aciphex is rather expensive($146/month). I am in Southern California? Are in Cal?
