I just went to the doctor to get blood tests and make sure that my drinking has not already damaged my body beyond repair. My doctor gave me Prevacid for some stomach issues I have been Having. Does anyone know if it is safe to take it when I have been drinking? I am really trying to stop but I am having problems with the withdrawls so I am trying to wean myself off. Any one have any opinions? I would hate to do more damage when I ma trying to correct already done damage.
Started Prevacid and also Strattera for ADD. We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.
In my opinion, neither one is new to me, but the halitosis is. I suppose the only way to figure it out would be to go off the prevacid. What is the consensus out there?

t leave her on prevacid forever, but he could not offer any other solution. I cannot see him taking her off medication only to have her suffer again. I am at a lost as to what is the next step in "managing" her reflux. She also has allergies for which she takes Zyrtec and Nazonex for. Please tell me what is the next step in care?
My gastroenterologist does not seem to be concerned because the Nexium is working for me. Nexium is not suppose to effect the joints. Have your sister talk to her doctor. He may want to do some tests on her knee. It could be other issues.

Whether starts abruptly and since when ? Does eye ball roll up? Is there any loss of consciousness? Body stiffness and how she comes back to normal sense and does she behave like in a confusion state. You need to observe her more closely and carefully to note any abnormality; this will be of significant help to the neurologist who may provide her care. It is unlikely due to medications but certainly requires a complete evaluation by a neurologist.
CalGal thanks for your response.Well right now I'm on Prevacid along with many other meds.But he wants to keep me on that for a month the go off it and start Benefiber IF that doesn't help then start Antibiotics.
Can you still eat pretty much anything with this Dx's?I know I should start a HIGH fiber diet.

I have been on reflux meds for the past 5yrs and have had numerous side effects from hyperhydrosis, a tremor in my hand (which I was on propranolol for about 1yr 9mths for), and most recently a tic has developed in my eyelids. The hydrosis has finally went away (4.5yrs later) and the hand tremor is minimal but my eyelids are going nuts. I am assuming its the drugs for reflux (I am having surgery for that soon). Does anyone know of anything else that would be causing this?
it will go away when you change your negative thinking, to postive thinking that is the truth. when you make it through some panic attacks using calming techniques. when you find a med that works for you (this is your choice). and when you are no longer scared of panic attacks. that's the cure. easier said then done, but can be done with practice. CBT works. it really does.
I have fought taking PPis over the years but when I developed the EE, I had to go on high dose prevacid---30 mgs, 2x daily. I wake up some mornings with stabbing pain in my gut with the first deep breath that I take.
I experimented recently afte wakin gup in pain, and didn't ake the prevacid that night. i woke up with no pain in my gut.
Has anyone else had a PPI cause them stomach pain?
I am also on a swallowed steroid for the EE.
I have gone on and off PPI's (Prilosec and Prevacid a long time ago). When you cut back you get acid rebound. It's better to do it slowly if you can. I think Prevacid comes in 15mg but you need to ask your doctor as I'm not sure if the over the counter version is exactly the same as the prescription. You can also ask your doctor what else you can take to help with the acid rebound. Avoiding acidic foods also helps. Good luck!
Hi I am a 29 years old male, been healthy all my life.
I don't drink but I do smoke, like 7-8 cigarettes per day, sometimes less.
About 2 months ago I started having stomach cramping and chest pain. When it started it hurts so bad I couldn't even eat. After a few days I went to the doctor and he prescribe me a H2 blocker (forgot name sorry).
00AM and wait 1/2-1.0 hr before eating food.
Also Mylanta .. space that out too cause the meds won't absorb
