Common Questions and Answers about When did risperdal go generic

risperdal

Avatar m tn Okay, let me ask this a different way? I want to get off the saphris because of the side effects but am afraid of being suicidal again. I'd heard Risperdal is used as a "booster" med for people being on anti-depressants. I take 40mg citalopram (generic version of celexa) and 225 mg Venlafaxine (for effexor) each day, then went to 5mg saphris in am and bedtime. I wondered about using Risperdal hoping not to have the same side effects.
Avatar f tn The longer you take it the less you will care if you ever have sex again. I am obsessive about sex and my dr had to take me off of it so I went to Risperdal. It was a nice alternative after the transfer period. It kept the voices from getting me nuts. I'm on Invega now because the Risperdal ruined my blood pressure and sugar levels. Being diabetic sux rox but I'll live with it if I don't have to hear them telling me I'm scum all the time.
Avatar n tn If Risperdal is treating psychosis it will of course return when stopped. If its treating mood disorders same in that regard. Best to have your psychiatrist have your medications adjusted to something else. As for the second poster what you describe could be a medication interaction and pressure sores can be lethal. Speak to the physician in charge or the hospital complaint division and make sure they adjust her medications and insure she is properly treated. They need to follow up at all times.
309783 tn?1271958229 Does anyone know why a general doctor would prescribe Risperdal for OCD when a psychiatrist has said my friend is just anxious (controlled by citalpram) and does not appear to be suffering from a serious mental illness ?
Avatar n tn We always use the same pharmcy, on the 19th of Dec we picked up what was supposed to be risperdal that said it was the same just a generic. It ended up beening Ropinirole.Ropinirole Oral is used to treat the following: Parkinson's Disease, Extreme Discomfort in Calves when Sitting or Lying Down. My 7 year old took about 9mg over a 4 day period before I figured out it was the new med that is making him totally different.
Avatar n tn I am bipolar 2 with PTSD. I was on Geodon, risperdal and lithium. The geodon was added last, and the risperdal was weaning down. I took it when it was new. For a few months, I did okay with it and didn't really have any problems. It was stopped because it eventually caused perceptual,,, especially visual, disturbances all of a sudden, and I ended up misjudging the freeway and drove my car over the embankment.
Avatar n tn Did you find a solution for the insomnia? i am suffering from this too after stopping respirdal. how much should it take?
Avatar f tn I went to a psych around 6 months postpartum and was changed to Lexapro which I did ok on till I tried to go up from 10 to 20 mg. it made me jittery and worse sleep problems etc...Psych then added Risperdal which I don't want to take and made me nervous after reading it is used for bipolar and schizaphrenia. After my last appt I was put back on Zoloft with the Risperdal which I'm not taking like I'm supposed to. AND I just found out I'm hyperthyroid. So....
Avatar n tn Let me assure you I never used horse tranquilizer to go to sleep but I will If I don't get better meds soon. I tried natural stuffs (herbal teas, relaxation, melatonin), I tried the OTC sleep aids and I've been prescribed seroquel (quetiapine), desyrel (trazodone) and recently imovane (zopiclone). NONE OF THE ABOVE WORK!!! (even after doubling or even tripling the doses) What's after imovane?
Avatar f tn 25 mg, but I am jut not sure if it is normal to start meds this early? Also, if anyone has a child on it how long did it take before you noticed a difference in behaviors?
Avatar m tn There was one side effect that I read that sort of concerned me aside from the movement side effects. Does the inability to move the eyes always go away or can it be permanent? How long does it take for it to go away if it occurs?
559509 tn?1216180446 But I am ecouraged to agree with my doctor when Depecote did help although it made me so unmotivated that I lost my job. Also I had a bad effect in the past with Effexor which is typical for someone with Bipolar and not taking a mood stabilzer. That was when they thought I was just depressed only. I know I have been depressed a number of times even as far back as fourth grade and now when I am depressed I have physical effects from it.
Avatar n tn is this common when weaning off a stimulant ? Also My son has gained at least 14 lbs in 2.
Avatar n tn He still gets shor tempered on the risperdal and tenex and prozac. We have upped all the amounts except the risperdal is still at 2 mg a day. He was much better in the beginning. He takes 3 mg of tenex, 2 mg of risperdal and 10 mg of prozac. He still is impulsive and gets into arguments. It seems to be an ongoing problem to adjust his meds. We see the psychaitrist monthly. He has been on other meds and they either made him worse or stopped working.
4971738 tn?1390565384 I took risperidone (risperdal) off and on for many years. It helped calm down my irritation, anger and psychotic symptoms--hallucinations and delusions. I started on a small dose 1 mg then 2mg. I climbed to 6 mg until my prolactin level went way past 1000, and my gynecologist went up in arms about it because it completely stopped my menstruation. It got lowered to 4 mg.
1142551 tn?1264736930 My son was prescribed risperdal a few months ago, but just in this past week after his psych eval. and really hurting his younger brother I have decided to go with it. I wanted it to be a last resort. I have tried dieting, prescribed sleep aids because I thought he was tired (he hardly slept), schedules, pictures, everything. And the aggression just got worse. Like I said the risperdal was a lqst resort. He will be 4 in Sept. and his dose is .
Avatar m tn I read that someone can go through meth psychosis when quitting and re-starting. She gets extremely angry, depressed, and paranoid. The doctor started her on risperdal 1mg-day, 1mg-night. It didn't seem to slow her down and she couldn't sleep because she was constantly worrying about different issues. The doctor then increased it all the way up to 2mg-day, 3mg-night.
Avatar f tn I was recently taking off Risperdal I tapered like every other day for 3 days,is this enough taper would i have withdrawal,i know in the past they have just stopped me off it,,is it a drug that needs taperred,,i was on 1/2 mg since sept 13 08
Avatar f tn I guess we need to give meds some time...he has been taking Risperdal for about 45 days. He previously did try Abilify and it made his 'anger' worse, he was actually getting worse altogether. But aside form the long night of sleep, he is more calm and his 'weird' thoughts about me being his worst enemy are almost gone. He left ou home 1 month ago, he never told his father or I where he was going and last week asked if he could come back home...
Avatar n tn t care for them, they did seem to make her sleep more but I also know she had nothing elsa to do and was at more peace when she was sleeping, My mom would also fall, but most when she had a uti has he been checked for that, they make things so much worse, so please have him checked for that, Have you talked to his dr about your concern, you can always cut the pill in half that's what we did with mom, but like the nurse told us , with this alz they do sleep a lot more and their muscles get
2176476 tn?1338605299 I had that happen when I took Risperdal in combination with Lamictal but it might have been the Lamictal which isnt as effective on mania as it is on depression but each person responds differently to each medication. If Seroquel was working for you you could try to appeal the coverage denial. Also there is the Patient Assistance Program for people who cannot obtain coverage at all for a specific medication. That would be worth asking about.
Avatar n tn It is likely it will replace the risperdal, but the most accurate way to find out is just to go ahead and call you doctor up and ask him what is he planning with your med regiment. Is he going to replace the risperdal, wean you down to a lower level? Is the Depakote staying? I usually preface it with I forgot to ask you when I saw you..... I will do that occasionally, because I do forget to ask.
Avatar m tn After taking risperdal over 248mg in total over 7 weeks my penis shrinked rapidly at first I did not know what it was but slowly began to realize its from prolactin in the drug Will this recover I took some ability which decreases prolactin it made my penis feel better but its still a lot less in length then before Is this permanent any advice from anyone?
Avatar f tn How in the world would risperdal help someone that has anxiety alrdy and then stopped using opiates and got double anxiety help.
Avatar m tn I looked up my symptoms online and found ADHD to be closely related to them. I also found ASD to be a good descriptor but my (2nd) doctor (psychologist) said I don't have ASD. I do, however, experience tics or stims -- i.e I sometimes clench my hand in weird gestures or visibly murmur to myself, I do this when I'm angry the most. Are these tics? Will they go away with risperdal? Even though I found myself to be ADHD, most people with ADHD complain about not making to work on time.
2010625 tn?1329372056 I may have to go off my Risperdal. My doctor is checking my hormone levels because my periods have stopped and I am lactating. He said if my hormone levels are high I can either add Abilify or replace the Risperdal altogether. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any medications that I could replace the Risperdal with. I don't go see my psychiatrist for another 2 months.
Avatar n tn Benaadryl is not good with Risperdal. My son, age 17, is zonked out when he takes both. He basically is out like a light and doesn't wake up in the morning (until about 12 hours later) the few times he has taken it. Not good at all. Claritin does not work for him either, nor anyone in my family. I don't like Claritin and it has a side effect- nosebleeds- very bad... You should try Zyrtec or Allegra.
898530 tn?1268618782 We have tried other meds that have not really helped her to sleep at night and she has started going thru some behavior issues such as biting herself and others plus tantrums like not wanting to go to school or even not wanting to get out of my car to go to the store or come inside the house. I tried staying away from Risperdal for so long now...they recommened it to me for her about a year ago but I did not want to give it to her.
