I have a friend who takes only Cassodex when his PSA gets to 5, then stops 3 month later when his PSA gets below 1.0. It usually it takes 2 years to climb back to 5.0.
Has anyone else tried this? The side effects on Cassodex are not nearly as bad as Lupron, but I seem to have less energy and sore nipples.
Doe anyone have any suggestions?

In 2004 his PSA started to climb and then he was on Lupon intermittently and, a couple of years later, an injection every 4 months. Casodex was also added along the way. The Lupron and Casodex were effective for 5 years as he had no outward symptoms until now and his PSA remained under 30. My husband had the hot flashes also at first, but they did go away. If I recall, the doc gave him something for that, but he didn't take it for very long.
My Brother was diagnosed with prostate cancer about 9 months ago, doctors removed his testicles instead of his prostate( tumor was too big), he’s been taking casodex for the past 9 month, but the last couple of days he’s peeing blood, he also has a couple of stents in his kidney which the doctor said he didn’t need to remove because his kidneys were functioning on their own again, I’m concern, any idea what could be going on
The side effects were so bad from the injection that I am not having any more.I am starting casodex 50g daily. The worst was my memory loss. How long can I expect the side effects to wear off.
Terrible side effects with Zoladex so switching to 150 casodex daily.
t Have Radiation Again And He Wants Me To Start On Hormone Therapy Immediately.He Even Gave Me A Prescription For Casodex When I Left His Office This Past Monday.
Obviously,This Needs To Be Furthered Discussed With My Oncologist Who Feels 2.5 Is Still Within The Safety Zone. I Also Need To Be Educated On Side Effects,Duration Of Treatment,Etc.

My dad has the beginning stages of prostate cancer. His brother had advanced prostate cancer and had surgery. My dad's father passed away from prostate cancer that spread to the back bone and blood. My dad is on Avodart and his PSA is 1.5 which the doctor is very happy with. His doctor, who is a specialist, said that if the PSA does not go up in 6 months and continues to decrease, then he may not need another biopsy after the 6 months unless the PSA goes back up.
I have an issue during exercise though - sometimes when I am exerting fairly well (steep uphill fast walk or more flat jog/run) and my pulse is at least 155, I feel a sharp pinch or shock in the center of my chest and my wireless heart rate monitor suddenly reads zero (no signal), after which I stop running and try to relax, and the monitor begins working again when my pulse is down around the 110 - 115 range.
my husband is 50 he underwent RP in Feb this year and is currently on anti-androgen Casodex which he is to take for 2 years.
I used the opk but I dont think it told me anything so I go online to see when my fertile days are but I dont think thats correct. MY LAST CYCLE WAS DECEMBER 18-22, 2013... I HAD SEX ON DAYS DECEMBER 23, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29 JANUARY 1, 2 and 3. MY CYCLES ARE 5-6 days long. I would like to know did I catch my fertile window this time? I get little bumps around my nipples on and off, thick white discharge that doesn't itch or smell, and minor cramps that come and go.
My 8 year old son never stops talking about anything and everything, this has been going on since he learnt to speak and I don'f feel it is normal. I have got to breaking point so many times as he speaks over me and my husband when we are having a conversation and I dread going to visit people with him, or bumping into people as he makes it near impossible for anyone else to speak.

I was in the second year of my PhD program when I started having symptoms. I'm still undx (though drs all think it's MS) and that was 8 years ago... I'm really glad I went on with my life and finished my PhD and had my third child.
Do what you can do now. None of us know what the future holds.
