Avatar n tn I had cataract surgery on Thursday, November 5th. Everything was going well (I guess, I called the doctor's office about a few concerns but was told what I was experiencing is normal). No pain. Very blurry, bothered by glare, but that all seems to be SLOWly improving. This morning I felt like I had an eyelash under my upper eyelid. I pulled up my lid a bit and saw what looked like a bump with a dark center. It is on the outside of the iris.
Avatar f tn Bandage lens placed on eye with one week follow up to remove lens. Used Zymar drops 1 x day while bandage on. Told 4-6 wk. heal time. I am at the 4 wk. mark. I have scratchy, gritty, irritated, burning eyes. Called opthamologist several times w/same response of give it time. Using eye drops several times and hour still and pm ointment. GP is ruling out Sjogrens syndrome with bloodwork.
Avatar f tn To continue or not to continue ? I've been using Zymar for 12 days and the eye infection (mucus film and pink eye) is not completely gone. I was supposed to be completely recovered in 5 days. After 12 days, my eye is about 95% healed. Since " . . . prolonged use may result in overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms, including fungi.", I would like to know if I should continue for a few more days or stop now.
Avatar n tn I forgot to mention, I used the Pred Forte every two hours (8 times daily) for first week only. I'm presently using Xibrom and Pred Forte 2 X daily. I'm wondering if inflammation is increasing with lower dose.....
Avatar n tn My doctor gave me prescriptions for Zymar (0.3%), to be used 4X daily for 3 days AND Xibrom (0.09%), 2 X daily for 3 days prior to surgery. After looking on the RXlist medication information site, it says that Xibrom should be used only 24 hours prior to cataract surgery. Any longer could cause corneal adverse events......what kind of events? I'm really nervous about surgery and am beginning to question if I want to go through with it at this time.....What are preferred anesthesias?
Avatar m tn She went to the emergency room where they witnessed this. They admitted her to the hospital for one week and could find nothing despite several more episodes of the bleeding. She was discharged with a referral to return next Monday to see a pulmonary specialist. She took the following medications after the catarcat surgery: zymar, pred forte, and ciprofloxicillin opthalmic, all prescribed by the opthamologist.
Avatar m tn This is a buildup on questions others have asked and have recieved anwers for. My question is regarding the phrase "wide open nasolacrimal duct" i have seen in other responses. Ive had no problems with my eyes, in feb 2008 i got lasik, june 2009 i was in vegas and got a sinus infection. after recovery from sinus infection ive had watery left eye., rubbing it with my hands seemed to have caused an infection., mucus in my left eye.
Avatar n tn I'm scheduled for cataract surgery on Wednesday. I started the prescription drops (Zymar and Xibrom) on Sunday morning as directed. I've had some peculiar symptoms and wondering if they are drug related. Sunday morning, a few hours after both drops, I sat down to read the paper (next to a bright light) and started feeling very hot. The left (cataract and light) side of my face felt a little numb, with some prickly feeling. I also felt very flushed....weak and faint feeling.

Avatar m tn I am using drops prednisolone acetate drop(predmet), zymar, cyclopent, acular ls. Also there is no retina detachment. I still find haziness in day light. I am 36years old and after the surgery my vision is almost 6/12.
Avatar n tn Azasite is the new new thing for blepharitis. Also use TheraTears SteriLid to clean your lids and be sure you are tested and treated for dry eyes if necessary as blepharitis and dry eyes are frequent fellow travelors.
Avatar f tn Sure, you can subsititute another antibiotic (if you can tolerate these drops) such as Tobramycin or Polytrim. For about one patient a week, I have to substitute Tobramycin for my usual floroquinolone Zymar, because the patient has a allergic history. Talk to your surgeon. There should be no problem making the switch here if needed.
Avatar m tn 5 weeks post surgery after Acrysof IQ implant I see starburst around lights at night and double vision at a distance (Venus and stars, etc.). My surgeon is watching it and keeping me on Pred Forte and Zymar. I was 20-30 the day after surgery and 1 week later 20-40. (Our goal was Plano.) I had my Optometrist check the eye today as an informal second opinion and he said there was a strange film like coating on the proximal (front) side of the lens and that was likely causing the starburst.
Avatar m tn ve already had cataract surgery. Are you talking about problems all in one eye or both? Which eye has what problem? What was recommended to you?
Avatar n tn Yes, this is totally normal and done millions of times a year all over the world. I have done it for every cataract surgery I have ever performed. You want to keep the eye from getting inflamed after surgery. If we didn't use proper anti-inflammatory drops, the success rate from surgery would be awful due to inflammatory complications.
