Common Questions and Answers about What is welchol used for

welchol

401016 tn?1201451802 I would assume they're giving you welchol for diarrhea and the Ami for GI spasms. This is a combination that is given to many (or combinations like it) when someone is experiencing unexplained abdominal pain (perhaps due to spasms) and diarrhea. Ami is used fairly frequently in GI problems, so don't consider it a 'head med.' It is, but in this case it's probably being used to work on the receptors in your GI tract - not your head, although it will do that, too.
Avatar m tn I think they have concluded that neither do Zetia, except when used with a statin, so it is the statin doing the work. I also think Welchol has been shown to not reduce cardiac events too. not sure. I am on Repatha. Third bi weekly shot. have about 1/3 of the severity of symptoms that I had on statins. headache, muscle aches. may put up with it and may not. just keepin on keepin on for now. Will see if this gets better, worse or stays the same.
Avatar f tn No but it sounds like this is what I too should be taking. What a common problem for us all isn't it? I dont know the answer I hope someone does!
Avatar f tn m also going through the process of getting tests done for my tight chest, feeling as though my esophagus is very tight all the time. are you also getting food stuck? do you have constant belching? if so it's could be dysphagia. personally i'm finding my dysphagia very difficult to deal with because the constant pressure in my chest makes me unable to concentrate on anything else, and eating makes it feel much worse so i've lost 8kg of wieght in 3 weeks.
Avatar n tn One of the most popular drugs used for this purpose is Questran (Cholestyramine), it dows the same as Welchol. The problem probably is that you are sometimes having too much bile in your system. When this happens, it moves quickly to the large intestine where it acts as a laxitive causing diarrhea.
Avatar n tn Londres is certainly correct that there are a few other options available to treat what could be assumed to be familial hypercholesterolaemia, even though your doctor has obviously tried those that would be most obvious. Generally, if you experience muscle weakness as a side effect of Lipitor (atorvastatin), other statins will produce similar effects, so that eliminates the use of Zocor (simvastatin), Crestor (rosuvastatin) etc.
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
Avatar n tn I have found that a old cure for this type of problem that a Aunt has used for years is simple flour and water. I mix 2 tsps of plain flour in a little warm water stir till no lumps and drink it down in a gulp. Has worked wonders for me no more problem.
Avatar n tn I just my surgery on Monday, 4 days ago and so far I have eaten anything I wanted and haven't had a problem. I agree about the IBS, GB surgery does not cause it. But, I am convince it is the catch-all diagnosis for when they can't figure out what is wrong. I was told for 20 years that I had IBS, even though I had no bowel dysfunction and pain in the wrong area (URQ). I finally got a GI to run a HIDA Scan and found out my GB didn't work.
Avatar f tn I am curious if you tried cholestramine or welchol pills for detox? I use the welchol because I can't drink liquid meds.
Avatar m tn This is another one of those things that's different for everyone. I tried the gold bond...it did nothing for me...Aveeno, oatmeal, nothing touched it. I went to topical cortisone...2-3% over the counter stuff....that's the only thing that gave me relief....then, after about 6 weeks, the itching & rash just went away...and it's one of the sides that never came back. Of course, then my hair started falling out....
Avatar n tn I take (2) 500mg of metformin at breakfast and supper. I also take powder welchol at supper. I would like to take my 1000mg of Januvia at bedtime to help lower my morning blood sugar readings that usually run in the 150's to 160, Any cons to taking the Januvia without food at bedtime?
Avatar n tn My wife had her gallbladder removed about 3 months ago. Since then she has had what is called chronic hives. Is there any connection between the two? Any help would be appreciated. She has gone through many tests and doctors, and still no relief except through steriods. Thanks!
Avatar m tn the first two times, there were a few blockages - 10, 18 and 20% The last time was in December 2013 with a different cardiologist (I moved across the state) and he said I had NO blockages at all. HUH??? My lipid profiles are still horrible even with medications. Pravacol, Tricor and Welchol. His answer for this question was: "Those medications took the blockages away." Of course, I am no doctor but this seems funny to me.
Avatar m tn Thanks for your reply. She is already taking Ciproflaxin, plus Flagyl, Pentasa and Welchol. In assition, She was presecribed the steroid enemas to combat ulcers which fomed between the pouch and her anus; which is so contracted (possibly from the lack of solid stool for 20 years?) that with the constant irritation of liquid stool, cleansing and shrinkage she says it too painful to insert the tip of the enema bottle.
1139187 tn?1355706647 Once a medication is dispensed from a pharmacy it cannot be sold back to the pharmacy or any other person. This is because even if you've only had it for a day and the bottles are still sealed, it is impossible to know if it has been stored properly and has not been tampered. I know this seems wasteful, and it is, but it's the law. I work in a HIV clinic and patients come in with unopened bottles of meds to donate to ppl who can't pay, other countries etc.

Avatar m tn I take Welchol. Burascano recommends it for detoxing if you can't take Cholestryamine. For adults It is in pill form and the later is a liquid. You just have to make sure that it is taken 2 hours after other meds or an hour before. I take it 2 hours before to be safe. It also lowers my cholesterol which went up due to Lyme. I use to take activated charcoal but switched because of the cholesterol problem. It does help detoxing so I think your daughter is on the right path.
Avatar n tn My husband had his gall bladder removed three months ago and he still has almost daily diarrhea. He is careful with his diet and does not comsume too much fat. Does any one have any ideas on why and diet .
