Common Questions and Answers about What is the medicine coreg used for

coreg

475570 tn?1280941363 It seems logical to take the medication with the morning meal. I take Coreg twice a day, rather than Coreg CR one a day with the extended release. My blood pressure and heart rate is very good.
Avatar n tn ve been taking it for almost 3 years and if I miss one dose i go into an MI and land in the hospital where they tell me my heart is still getting weaker, so I think Coreg gets more credit than it deserves.
Avatar m tn First observation I know is correct, Coreg and Carvedilol are the exact same drug, except Carvedilol is the generic form of Coreg. Increasing the combination would mean over 120mg, an unheard of dosage. You are already taking a gorilla dose and that can cause a drop of EF in my opinion. EF ratings fluctuate. I'd ask for a BNP test that is used to determine the level of CHF one has. Usually less than 100 indicates no CHF.

907968 tn?1292622204 I can only answer for the cardiologists I have had. They tend to stick to the same brand for each medication and gain a kind of experience in what dosage to administer. My cardiologists tend to stick to bisoprolol, ramipril, atorvastatin for example. I suppose over the years you get a kind of feel for how much a patient would need.
Avatar m tn Try the supplement Resveratrol.....I have been taking it for over a year. "With Every 750mg Capsule You Will Receive the Benefit of Resveratrol found in 100 Glasses of French Red Wine .. without the calories..." The above I just looked up. It comes in different strengths. Recently I caught part of a tv show where 2 Harvard doctors were going to develop a pill with the potency of thousand (s) of liters of red wine.
Avatar m tn Can you please also share what was your heart beat(pulse rate) with 25x2 and later with 6.25x2. What I understand is lower the pulse rate better is the recovery of heart function. Are you able to maintain pulse rate below 70 bpm with present coreg dose and exercise regimen. I have no problems with ACE-I though. With 5mgx2 Ramipril my BP remains 110/70 most of the time.
Avatar f tn Thanks so much for the response posts. Sounds like you both feel stopping the Coreg is not the best idea. Perhaps a lower dosage might be prudent. I'll be talking with my Doc. Thanks again to both of you. It is awesome to be able to hear from real people who go through similar experiences.
Avatar f tn Coreg can make a person feel extremely tired and loss of energy. Coreg is the best beta blocker as it blocks more receptors than Tropol XL. There is a medication that is being used in Europe that hopefully will be here in the US soon. It is a combination of Coreg and Tropol XL, I believe. This gives all the benefits of Coreg and reduces the tiredness that people complain about. Our relatives in Europe use the medication and have energy to travel to US and all around the states.
792040 tn?1237582438 If you have this diagnosis, it would be dangerous not to be on a beta blocker which is what Coreg is. Coreg is really the best beta blocker and blocks the most receptors. Now that you are on Coreg, you should try not to worry too much. Just do not miss a dose or go off of it suddenly. Follow-up with your doctor. If you experience flutter with the Coreg, make sure to see your doctor.
Avatar n tn But having any limitations even to do things I never considered doing in the past, really pisses me off. The real bee in my bonnet is this...what if the doctor is wrong (which I highly doubt, but still wonder) about my diagnosis and the need for all this serious stuff that has now become a part of my body. On the other hand, the ICD is not all that bad and it's comforting to know it's there. The Coreg does slow down my rapid heart beat, which does make me less anxious.
Avatar f tn heart rate is in the 70s to 100s..My dr said go ahead and start the coreg, and to take it only when things are over a 100.Well my pharmasist told me that coreg is a drug that needs to be taken daiely not as needed so im so confused. This dizziness is scaring me i feel kinda confused and like i havwe been hit in the chest hard but i havent. The cardolgist says my heart is fine and its mainly my anxiety.Has anyone had such bad dizziness before.
Avatar n tn This caused me to become very fatigued and my doctor attributed it to the Coreg so he switched me to 10mg Norvasc every day (after weaning off the Coreg for 3 days). This was 2 weeks ago and I'm still feeling the same fatigue. How long does Coreg stay in your system after you stop taking it? I know that Lexapro can cause tiredness as well, but my doctor seemed to think otherwise.
Avatar f tn We could all hope for the magic pill that would raise our EF. The lower the EF, the more we would take. How low is your EF and WHY did it get that low is where to start. If it is because of rhythm problems, getting well synchronized can be helpful. If it is because if a heart attack, taking an ACE inhibitor will be helpful in the long term. Exercise helps. Do your best with nutrition and do NOT smoke. There is a spot to get started from. Take care.
Avatar f tn Do you think (from your experience that I should call him before that? What is the name for the Plavix generic? thank you for your help. The cardi thought I had MVD and was pretty surprised to find the extent of my blockage.
Avatar n tn I think he is crazy for doing this -- especially without telling the doctor . Is his heart really cured or are the meds keeping him healthy? and what will happen if he stops them altogether?
304450 tn?1192686333 What is the underlying cause for the low EF. Digoxin can increase contractions and sometimes used if there is heart muscle damage. If the heart is enlarged causing low EF, then afterload can be reduced with medication such as coreg and vessel dilation, etc.
Avatar n tn For heart rehabilation after an MI, thereshould be an ACE inhibitor as well as a beta blocker (coreg) if the condition is ischemic in nature as a stent implant suggests. This lightens the workload for heart to pump against by dilating the vessels. Coreg also has a component to stabilize heart rate. Do you or is it suspected you may be susceptable to tachyarrhythmia. A TWA and Coreg medication seem to imply.
Avatar n tn Do you have a long term history of heart problems? Have the doctors been able to determine why your EF is low? I know that Coreg has had some really good results at helping to raise the EF. Sorry you are feeling tired...It could be from the meds. Is this a new diagnosis? Do you have a bi-ventricular pacemaker/ICD? The unit would have 3 leads and would help to pace your heart simultaneously. That also has had good results for raising EF.
1198633 tn?1341182388 25ng and started on Cozaar 50mg to manage my blood pressure which is working out really great according to measurements. I was weaned from Coreg by taking just my dosage at night and skipping the morning one for two weeks and then to stop. Since about a week after I cut down to once a day I started to notice a constant pounding heart.
Avatar n tn I have tried keeping my bp higher by missing my ramipiril dose on some occassions. The problem is more when bp is in lower range. As regards ramipiril, it was my cardiologists advise to initially bring down ramipiril from 2x6.25 mg to 2x2.5 mg as he felt that the dose was very high and it could adversely effect functions of other vital organs due to low bp. Subsequently he advised to reduce it further after an year as my bp again started reducing.
758444 tn?1234028617 I would love to find a non addictive form of medication for anxiety. To me they are all the one. Only some are longer lasting. Like Klonopin. It is used for more lasting anxiety sufferers. Not a quick fix for an anxiety attack. But if you ever have to come off it, well, it is the same old problem. Weaning and withdrawls. Just like every other form of medication. Just a case of which one can be used, without losing tolerance, for the longest amount of time. Klonopin wins that race.
Avatar n tn I just started to take ramipril at night and now my bood pressure is elevated in the morning. I used to take it in the morning and my bp was higher in the evening.
