Avatar f tn t get invited to the big presentations given by drug companies, only those in top positions in hospitals who are responsible for funding get that privalidge. So, where is the voice for the GP? and the patients who DO suffer?
Avatar m tn s important to see if (and if so, how) HBV would try to escape this drug control. HBV is always tinkering to escape control. Remember LAM was the miracle drug in the beginning. Doctors were prescibing it left and right....then came the consequences. It was the Wild-Type before. Our immune system eSeroconversion process led some to PC or BCP mutants. Antiviral treatment led some to other mutants. How will this go if this becomes a legit treatment option? Who knows at this point.
1846163 tn?1331048748 m not quite sure if the contrandication is a result of the Incivek elevating the plasma concentration of the statin or the statin lowering exposure and loss of efficacy of the Incivek but it's one or the other.
428155 tn?1203688894 I'm on simvastatin (zocor). I started it *after* my PVC episodes increased dramatically. I wasn't concerned about arrhythmia as a side effect. My PVCs have gone down quite a bit since I started it. I don't attribute this to the zocor at all. My total cholesterol is down to 150, from 245. I'm on the lowest dose, 10mg.
Avatar n tn 1.) " ...I used to take 80mg. Zocor but she told me to stop..." 2.) "should I continue to take the Zocor" Is there something in statement #1 you do not understand?
Avatar n tn s knows how much of a nuisance they can be both physically and emotionally. Is there any other drug that is not in the same class as statins that works on cholesterol. I already eat oatmeal, take fish oil, etc. Thanks!
Avatar n tn He has been using Zocor 40mg for the period of almost 2 months and he lost 18 pounds of mostly muscle mass. What is he to do next? How to recover his muscle mass? He is 68 years old.
Avatar n tn That's not very good advice to give to anyone, especially if you're not that person's doctor. Statins are not all evil or bad, and if someone is having a serious side-effect from one statin, there are many others that they can be tried on. Also, where did you get the notion that 222 is an optimal cholesterol level? The optimal level is highly dependant on the individual...
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
1699287 tn?1318491298 Thanks, I found that the Epilium is the one that causes this reaction. After stopping it for a few days, the irritation is very much reduced. I am seeing my Doctor for an alternative drug.
Avatar n tn Londres is certainly correct that there are a few other options available to treat what could be assumed to be familial hypercholesterolaemia, even though your doctor has obviously tried those that would be most obvious. Generally, if you experience muscle weakness as a side effect of Lipitor (atorvastatin), other statins will produce similar effects, so that eliminates the use of Zocor (simvastatin), Crestor (rosuvastatin) etc.
Avatar n tn See if if works for you. If you are completely against trying the drug, ask your doctor to try a drug like hydrochlorothizide, a mild drug that can reduce high blood pressure. I made the mistake of refusing drugs that would have helped me, and I've paid a heavy price to my heart health. Do be careful. Keep us informed.
Avatar n tn More important than the hair loss (though I am sure this is a big issue for many) is the fact that statins cause CoQ10 deficiencies that CONTRIBUTE to Heart Failure. I'd rather drop dead of a heart attack than suffer for years with Heart Failure if I had a choice. Be aware, coronary heart disease may not be increasing but there is an epidemic of Heart Failure in the western world, and the disease is devastating! The answer to heart disease is not more drugs and surgery!
Avatar f tn Hello, I have been using suboxone for about 6 months and I have dosed down to about .5mg a day. Rough to kick. I have possible hemochromatosis as well but still have not gotten a straight answer yet. They have done several tests and I have been to many doctors. I've been in the ER twice now because of heart attack symptoms and all of the doctors have had no answers. My feet are turning brown with these bruises under the skin or have been for years now.
Avatar n tn Six years ago my husband had a stent placed at the top of the LAD, he had restenosis in 6 months, they did radiation therapy and placed 2 more stents. 6 monhs later he had another stent and then in a month 2 two more. A couple of them they said artery was 60 or 70% but while they were in there they decided to stent it in one place he was having spasms. The last 2 were des.
Avatar n tn I've been on Zocor for the last 4 1/2 yrs and never had any sleep problems, but everybody is different. Tell your doctor about it and see what he says/thinks should be done.
Avatar m tn I don't have a Cholesterol problem! My problem is I have a cloting problem I have Prothrombin and Lupus anticoagulant don't quote me on the spelling!! I was on Cumidon then aspirin now off the aspirin and on supplements and blood is good. I also take some other supplements that I haven't mentioned for keeping blood moving.
620048 tn?1358018235 I've been taking Zocor for years, then they switched me to Vytorin, which is the same drug with another one added to it. Once in a while some of my liver enzymes are mildly elevated, but I've never noticed a problem that I could readily attribute to either pill. I do remember that I'm supposed to watch for muscle aches, I think. Maybe I'll go read up on it again, just to be sure. Do talk to your doc about it, regardless.
Avatar n tn I came across some soma and really do not know what it is for. is it a narcotic? is it addictive?
514523 tn?1215832667 is giving me Toprol and Zocor too while I wait to see the ENDO . I am kinda scared to take all these meds along with what the Endo is gonna give me. Anyone with hyperthyroidism taking any of these meds and do they have bad side effects?
Avatar f tn There is a medication that is being used in Europe that hopefully will be here in the US soon. It is a combination of Coreg and Tropol XL, I believe. This gives all the benefits of Coreg and reduces the tiredness that people complain about. Our relatives in Europe use the medication and have energy to travel to US and all around the states. I am not sure what the name will be of the medication when it becomes available in the US.
Avatar n tn He has been experiencing short-term memory loss for the past 3 years. This spring, my mom took him to the doctor for a series of tests. They conducted an MRI to check for tumors or a possible stroke. They also conducted an initial screening for Alzheimers and dementia. Everything came back clear. The doctors agreed that there is some short-term memory loss but not enough to warrant medication.
Avatar n tn Here is what Wikipedia has to say, and it is a daunting list that they note may be incomplete. It is quite a long list, but I don't see amoxicillin on it. To be certain, I would talk to the pharmacist.
