coreg

Avatar m tn 25 twice a day if this is your first experience with it. It is a powerful drug. I started with the 3.175 dose X 2, and it gave me a lot of symptoms such as exhaustion and I do recall a lazy peristalsis (swallowing) issue, but my body got used to it, and he doubled it, then doubled it again. carvedilol is very effective at re-modeling the heart, which includes bringing life to 'stunned' heart cells that aren't dead but in limbo, so to speak, but it is a very difficult drug to take.
Avatar m tn The main effect of Carvedilol it is not to low the BP but to reduce the heart rate. Does he take other medication? It normally takes 3-4 weeks to get used to the medication, anyway, if his body behaves like mine, days of low BP can appear at any moment .... I am on the same dose of it for more than 4 years and right now I am having days in 80/40 range, but I am in a lot of other medications. Jesus.
Avatar m tn First observation I know is correct, Coreg and Carvedilol are the exact same drug, except Carvedilol is the generic form of Coreg. Increasing the combination would mean over 120mg, an unheard of dosage. You are already taking a gorilla dose and that can cause a drop of EF in my opinion. EF ratings fluctuate. I'd ask for a BNP test that is used to determine the level of CHF one has. Usually less than 100 indicates no CHF.
907968 tn?1292622204 It drove me nuts until I got used to the drug and the symptoms reversed. I also have developed a hoarse voice and at first questioned Carvedilol, but it turned out to be caused by a Hiatel Hernia and my vocal cords were burning out from stomach acid. I now talk like Kim Carnes sings, and a recent surgery called a Nissen Fundoplication stopped the GERD, and my vocal cords are no longer eroding, among other symptoms.
Avatar m tn It recently dropped to 80 over 51 and the doctor took me off of my carvedilol for 2 weeks and said to monitor my blood pressure and call in two weeks. It has been 2 weeks now. I do not know what my heart rate should be at normal and at exertion. I live in a quad level and go up and down a lot of steps to do laundry. I get winded very easily. I want to feel better.
Avatar n tn Coreg (carvedilol) as I understand it is a powerful drug that can help remodel the heart, e.g. bring back 'stunned' heart cells surrounding the area of a heart attack. I'm not a doctor, but I did take it for a long time. I was started out taking 3.175mg X 2, because of EF of about 35% it just wore me out for a couple of weeks, but my body got used to it, I guess. I had just had a heart attack and stents.
Avatar f tn I don’t know about that side effect.
907968 tn?1292622204 Doubling Carvedilol can be like a sleeping pill until your body gets used to it. Your symptoms are typical, you may also experience some weight gain. I'm guessing you had a heart attack prior to the bypass. Carvedilol (Coreg) is in my opinion a wonder drug, it can revitalize stunned heart cells surrounding the are area of dead muscle caused by the heart attack, and can improve heart function. It is typically doubled as needed gradually until improvement is seen in the heart function.
Avatar m tn I would like to minimize the coreg and statin. The diet I am on is helpful for Nitric oxide and for endothelial health as well as providing some level natural ACE inhibition, and platelet aggregation inhibition, and is high in natural anti-oxidants. So, what will staying on 6.25 mg coreg and 10 mg pravastatin do for me in the long run? I would like to try going back to 3 mg coreg for a bit if my echo is good and drop pravastatin all together.
Avatar m tn s at time, so I have been prescribed Carvedilol to help control the heart rate. My question is, doesn't Carvedilol control hypertension as well...Why should I be taking carvedilol in addition to amliodipine?
Avatar f tn If the patient has idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy, drug named as carvedilol usually helps the patients. Carvedilol is originally a blood-pressure-lowering drug. But, this is very effective on the hearts with idiopathic cardiomyopathy. I think your hasband may have this type of disease from statistical knowledge. If the heart function does not recover after these treatment, you can consider the use of a heart-failure-treatning pacemaker (cardiac resynchronization therapy).
Avatar n tn I am 76 years old, I had a bypass 14 years ago. Recently, my PC Dr put a holter monitor on me, and the results was not very good. . .so, they put in a stent, a defibrillator and pace maker (august 13,2010.) They have put me on some new meds (right now I am taking Lisinopril, Carvedilol(Coreg), Lipitor, Lasix(as needed) and asprin, Oh yes, Plavix. The angagram (sp) Indicated I have one artery totaly shut off. They also said my Enjection Fraction was 30.
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
Avatar f tn I too was on nadalol beta blocker and had to lower the dosage by half but no longer take it. That seems to be the way to take the Carvedilol too so check with your doc. The 39 bpm is very low. You could take a break from the meds altogether. 39 bpm is dangerous. Check with your doc asap.
Avatar f tn I've had anxiety a long time so I've seen a lot of different practitioners and have seen lots of different therapists and have been on several meds, but that doesn't make me an expert. When it comes to anxiety there really are not experts because science hasn't really figured it out yet. So I really can't tell you what's causing this. I can only tell you what might be causing it.
907968 tn?1292622204 The ENT told me what I already knew, it "might be" the estacian(?) tube. The Audiologist confirmed that everything works right and my hearing is near perfect. The ENT used a endeoscope(?) to look down my throat because of a voice problem . everything looked normal but he did mention the possibility of slight reflux, in essence everything looked good.
Avatar m tn Like Vienna suggests, perhaps the Beta Blockers are too much for you given your symptoms. I'm not a health provider either, but would ask if you could try to go on just the HCTZ and see what it does for you, or take a small dose of Metoprolol. Coreg and Metoprolol simply knock me on my butt, but I have to have these drugs because of Congestive Heart Failure, and I'm an old man. I was started on 3.175mg twice a day and slowly increased to the present dose of 50mg a day.
Avatar m tn Coming to Carvedilol, it is not a simple anti hypertensive medication used to treat high blood pressure, but is also a cardioprotective drug, used in patients with heart failure. As far as your mother's blood pressure is concerned, it is not alarmingly low, but in the low normal range. Usage of antihypertensive medication keeps the blood pressure controlled and stopping it will lead to sudden increases.
Avatar m tn Dear p1954 Carvedilol belongs to a class of drugs called beta blockers. It is responsible for inhibition of beta receptors present ubiquitously on the heart muscle. By blocking these receptors, it helps prevent the effects of adrenaline/noradrenaline on the heart thereby maintaining a low heart rate and reducing the energy expended by the heart per beat.
Avatar m tn one being what is the best drug for HCM and the second being the intake of the carvedilol which is definately considered to be in the lower stages of beta blocker potency and considered a level one on a scale up to four.
572651 tn?1530999357 Vertigo is a known adverse reaction for Carvedilol. Dizziness is a fairly common adverse reaction listed for many medications including Furosemide, Diovan, Pravastatin, and Carvediolol. So it seems he is experiencing known side effects for these drugs, but not because they are interacting with each other.
Avatar n tn ve now added Carvedilol 3.125 2x/day and Lisinopril 2.5mg. Ejection is 55%, Cholesterol-119, LDL-64, HDL-29, and Triglycerides-131. BP is usually 120-130 over 80 pulse 60. My husband is 60 years old, no other health problems, does chew some snuff, 5 ft. 10in 209 lbs. No diabetes. The dr. seemed very discouraged and couldn't understand all this blockage after 5 years, what do you think is wrong and do you agree he shouldn't have bypass?
