i had knee surgery at end of Dec. and am just now coming off the pain pills and am going nuts. I'm sure its the percocet but am alittle confused about the difference between Percocet and the oxycontin as they both have said....OXYCODONE... on the label is the oxy just a time release percocet?
I have a question about the difference between oxy and vicodin are these two drugs seperate addictions for instance I am on day 7 (yippee) without and oxy's I have been taking some small doses of vicodin for the last 7 days to keep myself from going completely off the deep end although there have been many many times where I thought I was going to absolutly lose it, I have been through this once before my main issue with detox is anxiety is by far is my worst symptom I can deal with the lack
A doctor told me each Oxycontin 30mg tablet is equivalent to 15mg roxicodone tablet. So in order avoid withdrawal and keep the same dosage regimen, I had to take 5 roxicodone 15mg tablets a day for those 6 days which sums up to 30 tablets. Now subtracting the 30 tablets from the 40 tablets I had at day 1 of the PA request, that leaves only 10 roxicodone tablets left until my next doc appointment 18 days away.

You should be on an extended release medicine and then use the roxicodone for break-thru pain. This is the way it is traditionally prescibed. I am surprised your doctor has not done this for you. it will greatly decrease your pain levels.
I suggest talking to your doctor about changing your medication regimen to include an extended release medicine and this will help you alot.
I have been trying to google this and find out what I can in the difference between these 2 areas as far as where lesions present in different areas. So far I have only become more confused.

i have been without the actiq for 7 days now, only used the kadian sporadically to try and keep withdrawls and bay until i figure out what step is best next. i have had friends giving me roxicodone 30 mg 1 a day in these 7 days and another friend gave me 4 20 mg oxycontin. my pcp told me i was over the worst part when out of knowwhere last night i became sick as a dog. now i am doubting i can do this. can someone please give me some insight as to what to expect or what i should do.
You posted on an old thread that's from 2008. You should start your own thread so you have one that is dedicated to you. These older threads tend to get overlooked.
An opiate is an opiate so switching from vicodin to percocet will not help. Sure, it will get you off the vicodin but you will then be hooked on percocet. Our brain can't tell the difference between the two. All it cares about is that you're filling the receptors.
and i was eating oxycontin 80mg like candy anyways i would take around 3 oxycontin 80mg a day and i would take most of the time any were from 8 to 14 roxicodone 30mg and 15mg also, and i would still take my perscribed pain meds all in the same day and i spent 33,000 dollars in 2 and a half months, and now all of my money is gone. I just let the pain pills takeover My Life, but i want to quit my pain meds, i can't stand my pain anymore. but i dont know what to do.
Hi and welcome ! I honestly don't know about what would work best for you .It's my understanding that the fentanyl patch is one of the strongest meds .I know several on it who say it works well for them. I would discuss this with my PM and see what they would recommend for you .
Roxicodone does not contain acetaminophen, it's the same thing as oxycodone and is about 90% opiate and very addictive. It would be less invasive to the liver as opposed to Lortab, Vicodin or Percocet which do have acetaminophen, Ibuprofen or something along those lines.
Tiny little green pills sound more like Roxicodone, which is a brand name of oxycodone, not oxycontin. They are both the same drug in terms of the active ingredient, but oxycontin is the time-release version of the drug, while oxycodone is just a regular pill that you take usually every 4 hours. I have no idea what the white packets might be.
Roxicodone is a trade name for Oxycodone the generic name. Methadone is the longer lasting pain medication and the oxycodone is being prescribed for what is know as break through pain. This is a very common practice. The Methadone will not cancel out the Roxicodone.
In my opinion in addition to the pain from the damage of his injuries your brother is probably experiencing what is called phantom pain. Phantom pain can be very difficult to treat. It occurs when a limb is lost.
I am 33 weeks pregnant and have been taking oxycontin and roxicodone on and off my pregnancy . I take no more then 2-3 pills in a day and they are 20mg . I do not chew them snort them or shoot it up. I do not smoke or consume any other illegal drugs( besides large doses of caffeine lol). I can go a couple of weeks without them and have no withdrawals just the craving. My question is if I stopped using 6 weeks prior to delivery will my baby still show signs of addiction?

I alway been able to feel the baby by laying on my belly (at this point of pregnancy it won't hurt baby)! If you lay on your belly and feel that fish movement you will know if it's gas or movement when you are not laying on your belly!
m on day 12 off the norco 10s(vics when my script ran out) I am doing pretty good besides the sleep part but my question is...what is the difference between addiction and dependence? I was reading another post and someone mentioned that he/she thought someone was dependent not addicted.. I'm just curious. Thanks in advance for any responses.
