what is the difference between byetta and symlin

and what information I can gather on the web works as well as Victoza. I understand Byetta is coming out with a medication that lasts much longer but it uses a larger needle and is truly an injection. Don't understand why these drug companies in the US price their product out of reach of most....

I used to be on a regimen where I used both Regular, NPH, and Humalog to balance my blood sugars but it required a lot of effort and a lot of test strips which are so expensive, even with insurance! In January 2005, my endocrinologist started me on Lantus to try to find some balance with my sugars. My a1c readings have been under 6.

this is whether it is refridgerated or not. this is also what the pkg insert says. If you are using beyond the 28 days this cld b the problem.

I would like to add my own question which is what are the indicators for using symlin? Should every type I diabetic be on it or only if you are having after meal highs?

Have you been monitoring your blood sugars (while on byetta)? What is your fasting and post-eating blood sugars. What was your Hba1c when you started this med? Have you done any other relevant testing? If so, please also post results.

I have been trying to google this and find out what I can in the difference between these 2 areas as far as where lesions present in different areas. So far I have only become more confused. Thank you in advance.

I have a insulin pump and the doctor told me that when I injected the symlin make sure it was not near my infusion set. The insulin and symlin don't mix well. I hope you have better luck with it than I did. Hope this helps.

I would really like some help with this. Byetta has been wonderful so far, and I've lost 30 lbs, yay! But now I've developed insomnia - terrible, only 3 hours of sleep a night insomnia, which has never bothered me before. If I skip my second Byetta shot for the day, I can usually get a full night's sleep. So that's certainly a clue that I may not be able to take the full two doses of Byetta a day.

My best way to describe the baby movement (early movement) have you ever felt a gold fish swim in a bag of water?!?! That light swooshing is simular to the baby moving. Also when a fish pecks at the bag is simular to the kicks! I alway been able to feel the baby by laying on my belly (at this point of pregnancy it won't hurt baby)! If you lay on your belly and feel that fish movement you will know if it's gas or movement when you are not laying on your belly!

m on day 12 off the norco 10s(vics when my script ran out) I am doing pretty good besides the sleep part but my question is...what is the difference between addiction and dependence? I was reading another post and someone mentioned that he/she thought someone was dependent not addicted.. I'm just curious. Thanks in advance for any responses.

I used Byetta for a long time and I am not an expert or medical person. You are best to get the information from your doctor. Before I started using Byetta, I had to take classes from a nurse on how I had to inject Byetta into my stomach. It was prescribed by my Doctor. Byetta has side effects reported by some people but I had no problems with it other than the expense. It does give you a feeling of fullness and it has a nickname (Spit).

Ok I am a some what new diabetic released from the hospital 10-20-07 and because of diet, weight, and stress. I was working way to many hours and eating whenever I could. I have to go on a very strick diet and for the first month i lost month and a half i lost 15 pounds. Now a year before the hospital my weight was close to 400 when checking in to the hospital i was 280 and checking out i was 300 lbs.

What is the difference between herniation and overcrowding, I understand the concept of each but from a Chiari perspective is there a difference, if the tonsils have herniated into the foramen magnum then surely this leads to overcrowding….. on some of the medical sites they talk of these as separate issues, others role them into one. My only problem now is that some days I take all of my other meds twice but only have the Byetta injection in the morning. I suppose that is simply because I do not want to eat late and quite frankly just do without it. All I can say is HURRAY FOR THE WEIGHT LOSS. If this is what we must do to have that, I'm with you - I can take the med for the weight loss.

In March while following up on a case of Ludwigs Angina my enhanced CT scan showed.small non pathologically enlarged lymph nodes bilaterally with some inhomogeneity within the thyroid. I hadn't really worried about it until today when I saw a commercial for a law firm warning that the diabetic drug "Byetta" could cause thyroid cancer. I used this med for over a year in 2006 and was taken off because of other complications. Now I'm scared. Should I be?

You posted on an old thread that's from 2008. You should start your own thread so you have one that is dedicated to you. These older threads tend to get overlooked. An opiate is an opiate so switching from vicodin to percocet will not help. Sure, it will get you off the vicodin but you will then be hooked on percocet. Our brain can't tell the difference between the two. All it cares about is that you're filling the receptors.
